“Decolonising Cinema” was the central theme of the World Cinema Fund Day, which was moderated by WCF Head Vincenzo Bugno. The consequences of colonialism are reflected in the daily life of many countries, and the topic is coming through in more and more of the projects submitted to the WCF. The WCF Day shone a light on impressive and original Latin American and African projects in different conversations and panel discussions. The following questions were discussed: To what extent has colonial history shaped certain countries and their film cultures? To what extent are colonialism and post-colonialism reflected in previous films and in current film production? Are filmmakers from the funding regions aware of this dramatic historical legacy? Here, the duo teams up to take in the resort’s renowned dry powder and family-friendly environment, along with the terrain park and iconic Air Site—where a strong contingent of legendary Canadian freestyle skiers learned the tricks of the trade—while Morrison explains the reasons the area has always been so special to him, and why he’s laid down roots in the very place he grew up.
