This includes, helmets, boots, body armour, knee braces, neck braces and goggles as enduro protective gear. This also applies as motocross protective gear. These enduro training vids cover many dirt riding skills and dirt bike techniques for improved off road riding. Cross training applies trials to enduro techniques. HELMETS The good news? Any helmet approved by a major helmet standard does a reasonable job of protecting you, yes even the cheap ones. ENDURO & DIRT BIKE BOOTS. Lower leg injuries are extremely common, we recommend get the best boots you can afford. These vids provide an introduction on how to ride dirt bikes with our 70 free training vids. Many of these riding tips come from Graham Jarvis, Chris Birch and other top extreme enduro riders to form the concept of cross training - a blend of trials and enduro techniques. KNEE GUARDS. Some riders don t use these, but most of us see them as essential. GOGGLES. These are a no brainer. The huge risk with wearing sunglasses is that stick or branch that wants to gouge out your eye. GLOVES. Another no brainer. It can be worth having a bit of armour on the knuckles and fingers, especially if you aren t using a full set of handguards on the handlebars. The rise of extreme enduro, endurocross and hard enduro events has led to cross training - trials skills applied to dirt riding on enduro bikes. Subscribe to this channel for endurocross training, enduro techniques and dirt bike skills. Now what about the protective gear that many see as optional? KNEE BRACES offer a lot more protection than basic knee guards. Knee injuries are extremly common with bone fractures, blood vessel or nerve damage and injury to four main ligaments. An excellent study revealed that proper braces halve your chances of knee injury. NECK BRACES. There s a lot of debate around these due to so little information. BODY ARMOUR There is so much available here, but no research that I could find for offroad riders. What do all the world s best extreme enduro riders have in common? Almost without exception they are former trials champions who applied who have applied trials techniques to their dirt riding skills to tackle some of the world s toughest events - Romaniacs, Erzberg, The Roof of Africa and Hells Gate. PADDED PANTS Most offroad pants have some padding for the hip. It s a high impact area so the more the better. Some riders wear padded underwear too for extra protection. So there s a basic overview of protective gear. I ll leave a space here if more info comes up as we do some more detailed vids. Ride safe, guys! Parts of it look familiar, but make no mistake, this place is different. At 78 degrees North, it lies just 800 miles or 1300 kilometres from the North Pole. And with over 2,000 permanent inhabitants it is the Northernmost real town on Earth. There are only 50km of road, including the small streets between houses, so people get around the island mainly on snowmobile. In fact there are more registered snowmobiles than residents. Anyone leaving town is required to travel with a gun and someone who knows how to use it because the islands are also home to polar bears. The average daytime high is below freezing for all but four months of the year, and from the end of October to mid-February the sun doesn’t rise at all. This is the long polar night. Living here is tough. This past December an avalanche in town destroyed 10 homes, which used to be here, killing two people. So how did this cold, remote, ice-covered archipelago come to be inhabited? The hills around town are rich in coal deposits that have been mined for over 100 years. The coal was transported to the port via a series of aerial tramways some of which remain today, though they are no longer operational. Coal is a reminder that Svalbard was not always an Arctic ice world. 360 million years ago it was actually in the tropics North of the equator. A swampy area, it was covered with the precursors to modern ferns, which were much larger than they are today, reaching 10-30 metres in height. This vegetation was then covered in mud and sand and submerged under the sea. Over time it turned into the coal deposits that in the 20th century brought miners from Norway, Russia, and the US. Most of the coal mines have now closed and the economy is gradually shifting towards tourism, education and research. Tourists take trips on snowmobiles and dog sleds. There is a university centre in Svalbard, which offers semester courses in biology, physics and geology. And up on the side of a mountain is the Svalbard Global seed vault… but that’s a story for another time. The locals tell me that interest in the region from different nations is increasing. As the globe warms and Arctic ice shrinks, trade routes are opening up across the North. And Svalbard is strategically placed between North America, Asia and Europe. One day in the future Svalbard may no longer be as cold or remote as it once was. But for now it is a reminder of how through our ingenuity people can live in the most inhospitable of places. Get more Amman travel tips, things to do, where to stay, and delicious food here: http://migrationology.com/travel-guides/amman-jordan/ On Day 5 of our trip to Jordan we traveled outside of Amman, first to Dana Village in the Dana Biosphere Reserve. We had an incredible local lunch, and were served a dish called muqlaba, which literally translates to upside down - it was an incredible local meal. Finally, we moved onto Petra, and after checking into our hotel, we went to Petra by Night. 00:23 Breakfast and Leaving Hotel - To begin the day, I had a quick breakfast as the hotel in Amman, and then we packed everything up and headed off to do some traveling around Jordan. Driving towards the Dana Biosphere Reserve, we took our time, stopping off at a variety of different rest stops. One of the things I grew to love immensely while traveling in Jordan was Arabic coffee, and the good news is that coffee was available at every rest stop along the highway. 1:41 Maqluba (مقلوبة‎) at Dana Biosphere - The Dana Biosphere is a nature reserve in Jordan. The reserve is home to a variety of different natural environment, and starts on a plateau and descends all the way down in the Wadi Rum valley. The views of the valley were incredible. We continued driving until we reached the Dana Village, located on a hill overlooking the valley - it’s a historic town in Jordan, and they are trying to renovate certain areas of it - it’s an amazing little village. They had set up for us to have a local Jordan food lunch at a home within the village, so after walking around for a little while, we went inside to have lunch. There’s a famous Middle Eastern, Arabic dish, that’s also very common in Jordan called muqluba (مقلوبة‎), which directly translates to upside down. The reason it’s called upside down, or flipped over, is because the dish is cooked in a big pot, with meat and spices, or in this case chicken, topped with rice all in the same pot. When the dish cooks, all the flavors start to mingle and blend to create another incredible dish. When it’s finished cooking, the pot is flipped over onto a tray, so the rice goes to the bottom, while the meat stays on top - that’s the upside down part. After the rice and chicken was flipped onto the tray, it was then topped with lots of chopped up parsley, fried peanuts, and finally some lemon slices for decoration. The dish was incredible, the r 11:08 Wadi Musa, Movenpick Hotel, Musakhan for dinner - After our incredible lunch at Dana Village, we continued driving. Along the way to Petra, we stopped at Wadi Musa, which is said to be the place where Moses struck the rock and water came out. There was a rock there, and extremely clear water was flowing out. We drove to Movenpick Hotel at Petra, and we checked in. For dinner, we ate at the Movenpick buffet restaurant, and they had a good selection of both Western and Jordanian food. The dish I was most interested in eating was the musakhan, a Jordanian and Palestinian food of bread, chicken and spices, all cooked in lots of olive oil.
