LA local Geoff Shackelford takes Erik Anders Lang around a favorite track of his that he frequented in college. It s not LACC (which Geoff worked on), it s not Bel-Air (which shares the same designer) and it s not Riviera (although notables have played here)... *drum roll* Holmby Hills Golf Course. Or, Holmby Park Golf Course... or... Armand Hammer GC or just "The Pony Course." It has held many names/nicknames over the decades, but Holmby Park has been home to pitch and putt golf for almost 100 years. What the course does best is act as a community center for dog lovers, resident walkers and golfers alike. One of the only parks in the world that doesn t have a sign reading "No Golfing." Challenging meat-eaters to re-examine how they think and feel about their food. It really doesn t just come from the super market - it comes wrapped in fur, feathers or scales. FULL SKINNING: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuoSzo6nnDLKOiZ_rXHE6Gw/join In this series we turn wild game into food right in the field. Burgers are the end-product, but really, it s about making game tasty and edible rather than chewy or tough. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_wooded_beardsman/ This is part of a series called "CAVEMAN! (Savage Eating):" https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDg2Qmw9pKienMQhMkFsVuhZG6giMePU3 Woodobo SPICE (FOR SALE): https://tinyurl.com/y7s5cnoo Wild game such as rabbit or hare, geese and raccoon, does not have to be chewy, rather can be made to taste very good with simple cooking techniques including mincing, pounding, grinding, salting and spicing, slow cooking, boiling and tearing. On a grander scale, we are using wild resources to take the pressure off domestic animals who often live a very stressful life on to wild game which leads a very natural and healthy life. Not only is wild game very nutritious and plentiful since very few people eat from the wild anymore, but the meat is also very healthy since it is organic and naturally fed. We can t all eat wild foods, but we can certainly learn more about eating wild foods and how humans live a more naturalize life in tune with how we originated. Eat wild! Thousands of people from Central America, especially Guatemala and Honduras, are fleeing their home countries, taking a dangerous journey north through Mexico, and claiming asylum in the US. How did this crisis begin? Much of it can be traced back to the 1970s cocaine trade. Cocaine, which is mostly produced in Colombia, used to be shipped by boat and plane across the Caribbean. But in the 80s and 90s, the US cracked down on this route, so traffickers started shipping their drugs through Central America and over land to Mexico. That created a violent and competitive turf war between gangs and organizations in Guatemala and Honduras, and after the governments cracked down, violence only increased, forcing people to flee, often to the US. Through Vox Atlas, producer Sam Ellis demonstrates where conflicts occur on a map and the ways in which foreign policy shapes a region. In need of building materials for the loft in the off grid log cabin and log sauna, Cali and I snowshoe through the deep snow in the forest to the grove of dead trees that burned in a lightening strike, seeking out a large black cherry tree that I have had my eye on for two years. I plan to mill it into planks and beams to renovate the sleeping loft, adding storage for clothes and more. I use an axe to cut down the tree - much more exhausting than I anticipated because the wood is seasoned and frozen. With few groceries left in the pantry, I cook an unusual meal of ground ostrich with onions, garlic, zucchini, celery and spices. Thanks for watching! New videos every FRIDAY. Please subscribe.
