Banded a Baby Bird | Closed bands must be put on a baby budgie on the 8th or 9th day as their cartilage is more pliable at this age and their feet are smaller than adults are. Closed bands cannot be put on adult birds without hurting the birds toes and possible breaking the back toe. Other baby birds grow at different rates so do your research on the age of baby bird to put on the band. Open bands can be put on at any time. Closed bands will ensure the year the bird was hatched and the club or breeders initials.
