What will the dogs do if I leave food on the table and pretend to be asleep? Yes, I repeated this experiment again. This time with a puppy Olive. Adult husky Yuki feels strong competition and therefore behaves more decisively. Only the humble Agouti Monty was a good boy almost all the time! But these two husky girls are a real food destroyer. And of course the cats witnessed this ridiculous crime again. Well, it s my own fault. After all, it s a husky. Their instincts are stronger than good parenting. They travelled a long time in the back of the van for their surprise but when the doors opened they were so so happy! Having 3 excited dogs is a handful but having a hairy cat too is the tipping point haha. There was fur flying everywhere! We moved out of this house to our new house last year and Harley (Phil s favourite has been living here since. She didn t get to see Phil unfortunately but she s just bought a new house so moving on now. We all stayed in the main bedroom on the floor which was pretty cosy. It was nice to stay again and see all the neighbours and friends. The dogs had a good sniff everywhere all the familiar scents and back to their favourite walking places, Teddy peed everywhere including in the house to make sure the next dog knowa Tedz woz ere! Phil curled up in a squished ball by the fridge and back door like he used to and Milo lay in his regular spot! Nathan had never been here before but he doesn t have a clue yet anyway! The weather was good for the most part so it was nice to be back and see everyone. We basically took a carboot sale home in the van as marketplace is no good in the countryside so we bought everything whilst in the city to carry home haha.

There’s nothing more devastating to pet owners than losing a beloved companion, especially if the loss is very sudden. In this video, we will talk about possible causes of sudden death in cats. Lily Nephrotoxicity All parts of the lily plant are toxic to cats, from the roots of the plant to the flower’s petals. Even drinking from the water tray of a lily plant can be fatal. Lilies cause acute kidney failure within 2 days of ingestion. Without treatment, a cat will die. Other common dangerous plants for cats include daffodils, English Ivy, azaleas, Calla lilies, aloe, begonias, and ficus. Ensure that any houseplants in your home are non-toxic to cats. Of course, preventing exposure to these dangers is more difficult if your cat is allowed outside. Urinary Obstruction. Urinary tract blockages are extremely common among male cats. Therefore, it s critical for cat parents to know the signs of the condition. A cat who tries to go potty but isn’t producing anything may have a urinary tract blockage. They might sit in the litterbox straining but still not be able to urinate. This is especially a concern if the cat seems to be in pain while trying to do their business. When untreated, most cats will die within 72 hours. If this happens to your pet, a vet visit is urgently required. Heart disease Heart disease is one of the most common causes of sudden death in cats. It is usually more common in Persian cats and Maine Coons but can also occur in mixed breeds. Young, healthy cats are more likely to show sudden death without symptoms. As for cats that die from cardiomyopathy, death is often the first symptom. Blood Clot Cats can sometimes develop blood clots in their bodies. These blood clots can travel to the brain, lungs, or heart, resulting in sudden death in cats. If the clot travels down to the back legs, it can get stuck there and block the blood supply to the hind legs. This can cause the cat to lose control over their back legs. Blood clotting can be caused by a wide number of conditions, so you need to spot the symptoms. Diabetes Unfortunately, veterinarians are seeing an increased prevalence of diabetes in cats and dogs. This is likely due to the growing prevalence of obesity, inactive lifestyle, a high carbohydrate diet, and lack of exercise. Diabetic cats with uncontrolled diabetes may develop a condition known as ketoacidosis. Essentially, the condition progresses to the point where the body lacks insulin, so sugar can’t reach the cells, resulting in cell starvation. It’s an extreme medical emergency that requires immediate veterinary attention. Trauma This is more frequent in outdoor cats, but can happen to any animal. Trauma can be caused by animal attacks, being hit by a car, or even a bad fall from a height, all of which can cause sudden death, or internal bleeding and organ failure that can lead to death. Stroke Cats can suffer from stroke just as people can, with similar symptoms occurring. The symptoms can come on quickly and cause sudden cat death. Plastic bags Paper bags with no handles are acceptable for cats to play with, but plastic bags should be avoided for the same reason we keep them away from our children: Cats can get wound up and trapped in the bag, leading to suffocation. Chronic Kidney Disease. Chronic kidney disease is a very common problem in cats. It is a progressive illness that can lead to total kidney failure. It is a gradual condition that typically develops over several months or even years, and is typically caused by autoimmune diseases, cysts in the kidneys, and genetics. Sometimes, it is simply a result of old age as a cat’s kidneys become weaker and weaker as it ages. Raisins and Grapes Cats should never eat grapes and raisins. These fruits are known to be extremely toxic to cats. Bones and toys Another common cause of sudden death in cats is choking. Sometimes a cat choking incident is caused by a hairball that they can t expel, but accidents are more often the result of an object (food, hair tie or plastic toy) lodged in their throat. Feeding your cat fish skeletons or cooked bones is also dangerous as the bones can splinter and cause harm. Heartworm Heartworm disease is a serious disease that results in heart failure, organ damages, and death in pets. The worms enter the body through the bite of a mosquito. As the infection spreads in the animal, infective larvae from the mosquito begin to mature into adult heartworms within the heart. Heartworm disease is preventable by giving the cat a monthly medication. Limiting your cat’s exposure to the outdoors lowers its chances of being infected. Toxins and Poisoning Ingestion of toxins and poisons such as antifreeze, rat position, or medications that contain acetaminophen is one of the leading causes of sudden death in cats. Avoid using poison to get rid of rodents, and take your cat to the vet immediately if you suspect she’s come in contact with such poison.

You may be surprised to learn that dogs can detect many diseases in humans. Some illnesses cause chemical changes in our bodies, which can produce unique smells that dogs can identify on a person s breath or skin. Dogs have an acute sense of smell, and so have the ability to sniff out a chemical change in a human body caused by a disease. While humans have about 5 million scent receptors, dogs can have up to 250 million, giving them a nose up in scent detection. If you have a family history of serious illnesses - and a dog - you will want to watch this video to learn about 10 diseases dogs can detect in humans. Narcolepsy Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that affects your ability to control sleep-wake cycles. In a study published in 2013, scientists found that two trained dogs detected 11 of 12 narcolepsy patients using sweat samples, demonstrating that dogs can detect a distinct scent for the disorder. Most importantly, dogs can provide a warning up to five minutes before the onset of an attack, giving their guardian a chance to get to a safe place or into a safe position. Cancer Perhaps the condition dogs are most famous for detecting is cancer. Dogs have been able to sniff out a variety of types including breast cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer, and lung cancer. Cancer-affected cells have a unique odor that doesn t exist in healthy cells. There are even quite a few stories of a pet dog obsessing about an owner s mole or some part of their body, only to discover during a doctor s appointment that the dog was actually detecting cancer. Migraines For those who suffer migraines, having a warning before one comes on can mean the difference between managing the problem or succumbing to hours or days of intense pain. Fortunately, some dogs have a talent for detecting the signs that a migraine is on the way. Trainers and users suspect that the dogs are able to sniff out chemical changes in human breath that indicate when a migraine attack will occur. There are even migraine-alert-service dogs. A dog sensing a migraine about to start could alert you by licking, circling, nudging, staying right by your side, staring at you, pacing, or barking. Low Blood Sugar For diabetics, this can be a lifesaver. Increasingly, dogs are being trained to help people with diabetes by alerting them when their blood sugar level is dropping or spiking. Dogs4Diabetics is an organization that trains and places service dogs with insulin-dependent persons. A 2016 study published in the American Diabetes Association journal Diabetes Care found that dogs detect isoprene, a common natural chemical found in human breath that rises significantly during an episode of low blood sugar. A trained dog can wake up or alert an owner by jumping up, pawing, or nudging at owner whenever blood sugar drops to critical levels. An untrained dog may show signs of discomfort or anxiety. Fear and Stress The age-old notion that dogs can smell fear is an accurate one. Dogs can smell when we are feeling fear or are experiencing an increased level of stress, even if we aren t showing outward signs. What dogs are smelling is the surge of hormones our bodies release to respond to stressful situations, the most obvious of those would be sweating and the releasing of Adrenalin and cortisol. When dogs smell fear, they show signs of stress. Dogs that alert their guardians of the change in their emotional state can help prevent panic attacks and other possible episodes associated with post-traumatic stress disorders. COVID-19 In a study at the University of Helsinki, dogs were taught to recognize the odor signature of the COVID-19 disease. And in only a few weeks, the first dogs were able to accurately distinguish sweat samples from COVID-19 patients from sweat samples of healthy individuals, almost as reliably as a standard PCR test. Depression Dogs also have a special knack of sensing happiness and sadness in humans. They can smell and sense the rise and fall in our feel-good hormones, such as dopamine, oxytocin, and serotonin. When we are ill, these hormones often plummet, and our dogs are usually the first to know it. This might explain why many pets are known to curl up next to a sick or depressed owner. It’s also been noted that dogs can recognize our facial expressions. When we are tired and sick, the energy often leaves our faces, and our dogs see this happen. Malaria Malaria may not be common everywhere, but in the countries where it still exists, it can be deadly. Especially for children. Recent research has found that dogs can accurately tell if someone has malaria – simply by smelling their socks. Seizure This one is more for service dogs placed with seizure patients. New research led by Queen’s University Belfast has shown that dogs can predict epileptic seizures, offering a warning sign to owners that has the potential to save lives. Epileptic seizures are associated with a specific smell which is detectable by pet dogs.
Respostas no vídeo!
