Increasing AC performance by cleaning your condenser was a surprise to me. My friend and forum moderator Paul Krawsek aka College man, turned me onto this. He works in HVAC and was telling me about the benefits of cleaning condenser coils. He says one of the biggest reasons that AC systems fail is due to increased head pressure in the compressor. Higher pressures equal more heat. The increased heat breaks down the lubricant. Once that happens, it s not long before the compressor fails. One way to keep down compressor temperature is to lower high side pressures in the AC system. You can do this by increasing the condensers efficiency by cleaning it. Honestly, I was amazed at the result. This really works and doesn t require that you open the AC system at all to do it. So if your AC isn t working as good as it should, you might try this process to see if it helps. The transverse mounted, engine which is common practice nowadays was revolutionary at the time.The Mini had major mechanical problems including but not limited to the power steering pump failure, broken timing chain and coolant leaks which could potentially overheat the engine. The automatic transmission had major problems and the manual transmission was weak. Premature wear and throw out bearing failure were quite common. It is not uncommon to see early trouble at 30k-40k and 50k miles. I do not recommend a Mini Cooper as a used car purchase.

As you may know my 1993 Acura Vigor had some pretty bad water leaks into the trunk due to rust issues. To repair them I needed to do a little body work. In this video I show how to do body work using hack methods to get you by. In order to do this properly it would have been best to cut out the old rusted material and weld in new metal. I didn t feel that my $500 Acura Vigor was worth that effort so I did what you see here in this video. As stated this method works very well for floor pans or other areas where you re not necessarily going to see the finished product. Honestly, I don t think things turned out so bad, in fact, I have a new appreciation for the car now that I ve done this work, despite the fact that the paint doesn t match. Perhaps one day I ll go back and finish it properly and respray the entire car. For now, I have other work to do to keep this car in good working order.
