We got called out for a Ford F250 Superduty that was stuck in the sand out at Sand Hollow State Park. When we got there, we found the truck buried to the axles at both ends. This was another job that the customer inexplicably turned the wheels completely one way. ??? The latest example of this phenomenon is the Audi Q3 Sportback, an-ever-so-slightly more rakish version of the company s Q3 crossover. The new Audi Q3 Sportback adopts a swept-back rear window and a modestly lower roofline (1.1 inches) to project a sportier and more coupe-like aesthetic. This isn t just about a new haircut for the compact crossover, however. It also involves additional sheet metal creases along the body sides and slightly more aggressive front and rear fascias. It s not immediately clear how big of a toll these changes take on headroom, but they definitely add athleticism to the Q3 s appearances, as well as visual length, even if the the Q3 Sportback is only slightly longer (0.6 inch) than garden-variety Q3 models. Despite that modest added length, total storage space in the Q3 Sportback is less than the standard Q3: 18.7 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up is identical, but with the seats folded, there s 49.4 cubic feet -- a shortfall of 5 cubes compared to the Sportback s more upright relative. According to an official Audi release, the new Q3 Sportback will be offered with a range of four-cylinder engines, including a range-topping 2.0-liter turbo delivering 226 horsepower. A 1.5-liter option will come soon, mated to a 48-volt mild-hybrid setup to yield 147 horsepower. A pair of diesels making up to 187 hp will also be offered, and all powerplant choices are available backed by a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. A manual transmission will be available on front-wheel-drive models on the aforementioned 1.5-liter gas and 2.0-liter diesel engines, and a stick-shift setup with Quattro will also become available "shortly after market launch." Like most new Audi SUVs, the Q3 Sportback includes features like all-LED exterior lighting (in three versions) as well as adaptive dampers and a six-setting Audi Drive Select controller with dedicated off-road mode. Interesting, all models will receive fully digital gauge clusters, with lower-end models getting a 10.25-inch display. Audi s 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit is available on systems equipped with MMI navigation. Other tech on offer in the Q3 Sportback includes LTE telematics, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications and Amazon Alexa integration. The Audi Q3 Sportback arrives in European showrooms this autumn. Like its standard Q3 brethren, the new Sportback will look to take on the BMW X2 and Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class among other rivals. Audi cites German pricing from €40,200 -- around $45,000 USD -- for the 35 TDI S tronic model, which suggests a slight price premium over Audi s equivalent Q3 models. If you re wondering when the US will see this sleek little crossover on its roads, well, we ve got bad news. The Q3 Sportback is not destined for our roads. According to an Audi spokesperson reached by Roadshow, "While the [standard] Q3 is on sale in the US this month, the Q3 Sportback will not be coming to the US."

The optional Handling package s unique Pirelli Corsa4 tire and retuned MagneRide shocks work with the stability control and ABS systems and the new engine s lighter weight to give this Mustang the most engaging handling this side of the Shelby GT350. If you prefer canyon carving and autocrossing to straight-line power, this might be the Mustang for you. About the Mustang EcoBoost: The 2020 Ford Mustang provides ample amounts of style and performance. It also makes the appropriate nods to the Mustang s heritage while staying current with the latest technology features. Among today s muscle cars, the Mustang is hard to beat. The Ford Mustang EcoBoost is powered by a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, and a 10-speed automatic is optional. Other mechanical equipment includes a limited-slip rear differential, launch control (only with the manual gearbox), and an electronic line lock to facilitate burnouts (at the track only, of course). For both EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium models, an available High Performance package adds a high-performance version of the 2.3-liter engine with a 20-hp boost (up to 332 hp but with the same torque rating), larger brakes with four-piston calipers, 19-inch wheels and summer tires, a shorter differential ratio, a bigger radiator, active exhaust, stiffer front springs, a special front air splitter, a larger rear spoiler, and specialized track-oriented suspension tuning. The High Performance package also allows access to the EcoBoost Handling package (coupe only), which equips the Mustang with adaptive MagneRide suspension dampers and wider wheels (19 inches x 9.5 inches) with Pirelli Corsa4 tires. Muscle cars don t exactly scream "high tech," but the Ford Mustang gets high marks for the availability of newer features. Ford s Sync interface has top-notch voice controls, an 8-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphone integration. The optional digital instrument panel not only looks cool, but it is functional and is a great secondary control screen. The advanced safety features (blind-spot monitor, lane keeping assist, etc.) are well-tuned to avoid false alarms. The forward collision warning is appropriately startling. The adaptive cruise control executes with smooth inputs and maintains the set speeds on steep downhills. Inside, the Mustang s interior is much the same as it has been for the past few years. Highlights include a pleasing retro design fitted with the latest technology options such as Ford s Sync infotainment system and adaptive cruise control. The drawbacks are predictable. These include limited rear-seat and trunk space and a stiff ride when you opt for the high-performance suspension. Overall, though, we thoroughly enjoyed the 2020 Ford Mustang. It s modern, fast, easy to drive, and available with just enough options to make it your own. Elements of past and current BMW M offerings all feature in the design. The dimpled carbon roof in homage to the E46 M3 CSL. Extended wings in homage to the E30 M3, squarer more aggressive with motorsport cutoffs. The front wings cut outs feature mounting winglets, a structural requirement while adding a traditional 3.0 CSL feature. The ICON03 is our homage. Performance comes in the form of the three litre BMW B58 turbocharged engine delivering over 400 ft-lb of torque. Outright performance of the engine hasn’t been a focus we believe that under 500 bhp is where a true drivers car lies. True driving requires a bond between driver and machine, power in the right place builds this trust and encourages a more eager and engaging driving experience. Out in Ingolstadt, Germany, you can find Audi headquarters. Where there s a nice Audi museum, with a great collection of vintage Audi prototypes, racecars, and more. But we didn t go to that museum. Nah, because with Scotto in tow - you KNOW Audi is going to hook it up. So beyond letting the tall one drive an R8, they take us to a storage facility deep inside the factory walls, that houses THREE floors of the most drool-worthy car collection we ve seen in a long time. Maybe ever. And that s saying something, coming from a single manufacturer. But then again, the complete Auto Union is made up of Audi, Horsch, Wanderer, DKW and sometimes NSU... yeah, the episode is packed with Audi history too.
