Does your engine rattle on startup? A bad variable valve timing VTC actuator or bad cam phasers can cause a rattling noise on a cold start. This is a common problem in Honda 2.4 engines including the Accord and CRV among others. This is also a common problem in Ford Ecoboost engines. In this video I show you how to diagnose a bad VVT actuator which can cause a P1009 check engine code. Then I show you the entire process on how to replace the VTC actuator without removing the camshafts and using only common hand tools. I show you how to set the engine to top dead center, remove the timing chain, replace the VTC actuator and install new gaskets in the valve cover to prevent oil leaks. When we last saw our Ford Shelby GT500 in a drag race, it got left in the dust behind our Tesla Model Y Performance. Given the Tesla s all-wheel-drive traction and immediate power delivery, that may have been an unfair pairing. This time we ve attempted to even out the playing field by bringing a 2021 BMW M4 Competition. In this video, Carlos Lago and Kurt Niebuhr from Edmunds jump into these high-performance vehicles to see which one has the quickest acceleration and 0-60 time. The trophy truck now joins the pantheon of Block’s vehicles sporting Mexican artist Ricardo Gonzalez’s, a.k.a. It’s a Living, exclusive design including Block’s Subaru STI, Cossie V2, and Tuthill Safari Porsche Rally vehicles. “It’s exciting to see the merging of all these worlds,” said Block. “Bringing together a guy from rally like me with two amazingly talented trophy truck racers and the work of an artist like Ricardo with this truck from one of the greatest builders in the world is an incredible moment.” In today’s episode, Block and the Hoonigan crew deliver the three-punch combo of announcements about Block’s unorthodox foray into the world of desert racing which took place at the Ampudia family’s restaurant and nightclub. “Most livery reveals are pretty boring and underwhelming,” said Block. “With the addition of Alan Ampudia to the team, it was only right that we did this big and on Alan’s home turf.” Block is starting his journey to the Baja 1000 as soon as possible by competing in the first leg of the Vegas to Reno race this August with rally co-driver Alex Gelsomino. “The ultimate goal here is winning the whole Baja 1000,” said Block. “So we are using this race to throw ourselves in and get as much seat time as possible going into the big event. There’s a big learning curve for us.” Block’s odyssey to the Baja 1000 can be seen in the 8-part Whoopocalypse Now series dropping on his YouTube channel. The series will include seat-swapping with Redline in Block’s sport of rally racing at Team O’Neal, racing NEFR, Block pitting his rally car versus the trophy truck, and maybe even some trophy truck Gymkhana driving. In this video I m experimenting with adding a cold gas thruster to an RC car to see if it can compete with the Tesla Roadster SpaceX edition. This system operates at a relatively high pressure so I don t recommend trying to replicate this unless you re knowledgeable in high pressure systems and can verify the gas pressure rating of the hardware you re using. I was happy to be able to add a cold gas thruster to the RC car, but can 2 small displsable CO2 cartridges provide enough thrust for a full 0-60 run?
