This is a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that was part of the North American Motor Car collection I was asked to restore prior to the RM auction later this year. 24 of the car show have been sitting in this warehouse for 3,5,10 and even 13 years unwashed and definitely not detailed. What s great about being hired to restore a huge collection, is that it s essentially a time capsule. These cars were all collected within (usually) a 2, 3,4 year period....then sort of forgotten. Why? I have no idea, but as the older generations reallocate assets, these collections keep popping up. Only 7 more to go in this particular collection! As you can see the paint is very dusty and is covered in swirls and medium depth scratches. The interior is dirty and has a few spiders and critters inside. The real trick to this car is adjusting techniques for single stage/clear coat paint versus matte paint. Afterwards I coated the soft paint with Reflex Pro and wheels and chrome in Gelee Pro before going for a drive....or burn out in a mach 1! Wooohooooo!!!!! New England Forest Rally is arguably one of the most notorious stage rallies on the ARA circuit. It features very demanding, fast technical stages that wind through Maine and New Hampshire.
