This is a 1966 Mercury Montclair that s been abandoned in a barn for 26 years. The Mercury has a great story and was owned by Emmy Award Winning Screenwriter John Vlahos. A kind viewer of the channel recently bought the property and asked me to save the Mercury from the crusher. The collection of acorns in the barn was a sign of what s to come as I found the largest mouse nest I ve ever seen during the detail. One of the most challenging and intensive clean-ups for sure but all worth it to donate the Mercury to a generous subscriber. Mat’s got his hands on both of these performance pocket rockets and he’s going to run you through everything you need to know to find out which is best! (Ok, it’s the RS3 saloon rather than the hatchback, but it’s basically the same car…) So let’s have a look at the stats. Starting with the Audi, it’s packing a 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo petrol engine under the bonnet, that’s good for 400hp & 500Nm of torque. It’s equipped with all-wheel drive, and Audi claims it can hit 60mph in just 3.8 seconds. As for the AMG, it’s actually down a cylinder, with a 2-litre 4-cylinder engine housed up front. However, it’s worth noting that this is the most powerful 2-litre 4-cylinder engine in the world, so it can put down 421hp and 500Nm - so it’s more powerful than the Audi! It can also hit 60mph slightly quicker, at 3.7 seconds. In terms of styling, it’s fair to say the Audi is definitely a bit more understated than the AMG. Sure it comes with two huge oval exhaust pipes along with some big air intakes up front, but that’s nothing compared to the AMG’s huge wing and quad exhaust tips! In terms of price, they’re both relatively similar, with the Audi starting at £55,000, and the AMG coming in at £59,000. But which should you choose? There’s only one way to find out - stick with Mat for this all-new group test! Let’s check out the stats… Starting with the Jeep, it’s powered by a 6.2-litre supercharged V8 that can deliver 707hp and 875Nm of torque. As you’d expect, it’s super heavy though, tipping the scales at 2,433kg! Interestingly, the Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible has an almost identical weight, although its 6-litre twin-turbo W12 can ‘only’ put down 660hp & 900Nm of torque. Alongside the Bentley, we have an RS5, which is powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 that’s good for 450hp & 600Nm. It’s a whole lot lighter than the Jeep and Bentley, though, weighing in at 1,742kg. And then finally we have the lightest car here, the BMW M2 Competition. It tips the scales at 1,575kg, and its 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six can deliver 410hp & 550Nm. It’s got one key disadvantage though - it’s the only RWD car here, whereas all the others are AWD! So will either the Trackhawk or Bentley walk it? There’s only one way to find out - LET’S RACE! Each winter the world’s most famous mountain pass – the Stelvio – is closed. Someone has to be the one to open it for summer then, and this year that task was handed to Top Gear. It’s Toyota’s first purpose-built electric car, and Mat’s on hand to find out whether it has what it takes to compete with class leaders such as the VW ID.4, Audi Q4 e-tron & Kia EV6! So let’s take a closer look. For starters, the BZ4X looks pretty stylish at first, with a sloping roof and full-length light bar at the back, through to some pretty smart chrome panelling at the front. However, on closer inspection, there’s quite a bit of plastic cladding across the car, including the rear bumper and around the wheel arches - not what you’d normally expect from a top-of-the-range model! Thankfully, the interior is pretty impressive. The model we have here has a large infotainment screen up front, and the cabin generally has a bit of a futuristic feel to it. You can get the BZ4X as either a front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Both models come with a 71kWh battery pack, while the largest claimed range you can achieve is in the front-wheel-drive edition, at 317 miles. In terms of power, the four-wheel-drive model has the upper hand, at 218hp. The starting price of this all-new Toyota is £42,000.
