Mat’s finally got his hands on the Lotus Eletre! The Eletre is the first Lotus SUV ever created, and Mat’s about to find out if this all-electric Lotus has what it takes to compete with EV competitors like the Tesla Model X Plaid! For starters, let’s check out the looks. From the front end, there’s a sloping bonnet and a whole host of vents, and if anything it reminds us a bit of the Lamborghini Urus! However, unlike the Urus, every vent you can see on this car serves a purpose - there’s no fakery here! Moving down the side you’ll note there are black surrounds around the windows and on the side mirrors, and around the back, there’s a pair of small spoilers, a bootlip spoiler and a few more vents to help improve efficiency. Step inside and the good looks continue! The interior has a sporty feel to it, with high-quality materials found throughout the cabin. There are a number of physical switches which feel pretty sturdy, and even the smallest areas or buttons are made to feel expensive. What’s more, there’s a choice of three screens - a small digital dial display for the driver, a huge infotainment screen, and then a small screen for the passenger to use. The quality continues through to the back seats, too, where there’s the option to add two sports seats similar to what you’ll find in the front! These can also be electrically operated. There will be two versions of the Eletre on sale, and both come with dual motors and a 112kWh battery. The entry-level Eletre & Eletre S can produce 603hp, while the range-topping Eletre R can produce 905hp! What’s more, the R should be able to hit 60mph in under 3 seconds! When it comes to price, the Eletre starts from £89,500, rising up to £120,000 for the R edition. But is it worth it? And should you choose it over the likes of a Tesla Model X Plaid? Mercedes has lifted the veil on its competitor to the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6, and it’s the longest & widest E-Class ever made! But does that make it better than the previous generation? Let’s take a closer look… For starters, there won’t be any mistaking the new E-Class for the holder models from the outside. There’s a taller, chunkier grille around the front, which is surrounded by a chrome border. There are two styles of grille depending on which trim you use - the AMG Line comes with a large Mercedes badge surrounded by miniature 3-pointed stars, whereas the Exclusive trim has a more-retro-inspired grille. There are also new LED headlight designs, along with updated brake lights around the rear that come in the shape of the Mercedes 3-pointed star. Step inside and you’d be forgiven for thinking you were sitting in a top-of-the-range Merc! The huge infotainment screen mimics the hyper screen found in an EQS, although in this instance it’s called the ‘Superscreen’ as the size is a bit smaller. There’s also the option extra to add a screen on the dash for the passenger, and there’s a choice of quality materials to add to the cabin for those looking to customise their E-Class. There are a number of petrol, diesel and hybrid engine choices available for the new E-Class. The entire range comes with a 2-litre 4-cylinder engine, and all come with a form of hybrid tech. Entry-level models come with mild-hybrid technology, while there are also some plug-in hybrids available. The range-topper is the E400 e, where the engine & motor combine to deliver 381hp. This edition can also fly to 60mph in 5.3 seconds. A flagship 6-cylinder is also in the works, which is likely to be the new AMG E63. But as of yet, we don’t have details on when that will be released. The new E-Class is due to be released in Summer 2023, and although Mercedes hasn’t released the price yet, you can expect the range to start from around £50,000. This is the all-new Lexus RX! Mat’s got his hands on this mid-sized Japanese SUV to see if it has what it takes to compete with premium German competitors like the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne. Well for starters, it certainly looks the part from the outside. Lexus has followed the latest trend of having the brand’s name written on the back of the car, but sadly it’s also accompanied by a number of fake vents. Along the side, the car looks pretty impressive, with a number of creases and bits of chrome trim. Then around the front, there may be more fake vents, but the large new grille is striking and impressive. On the inside, the RX is super stylish. Soft touch materials and leather are found throughout the cabin, and there s a decent amount of practicality to store your items. There’s a big infotainment screen in the middle of the dash, which is pretty responsive but the system isn’t the best. Similarly, the digital dial system is ok, but there are much better systems out there. In terms of engine choices, there are two self-charging hybrid options. The entry-level is a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine coupled with two electric motors to deliver 250hp. The alternative is a 2.4-litre turbo petrol coupled with two electric motors to put produce 371hp. Alternatively, you can choose the plug-in hybrid car we have here. This comes with the same 2.5-litre NA petrol engine as found in the entry-level, and the power output is 309hp. So the car looks impressive and is made of high-quality materials, but while the entry-level 350h starts from around £60,000, the price can rise to above £80,000 for premium editions of the 450h or 500h! So is it worth it? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself! This time on Busted Knuckle Builds we are showing off the latest turnkey rock bouncer build to come out of the Busted Knuckle Off Road shop. This one is called Bipolar for the fact that it will see both trail bouncing as well as some serious rock bouncer racing action. It features an 850hp Whipple Supercharged LS 427 Stroker, an SCS transfer case, and beefy dana 80 axles. Busted Knuckle Self centering rear steer will help him navigate the tight courses while some added door bars and window nets will keep him safe no matter how bad the rollover. He also went with a set of PRP Alpha containment seats to keep him in control behind the wheel. Level 6 suspension all around to keep the comp cut 43 SX stickies on forged vision wheels planted to the ground.
