The 2023 Munich Motor Show has been taking place this week, and there have been SO many new cars on show! From petrol-powered Passats to futuristic concepts, Mat’s pulled together all the key announcements you need to know about. Starting with petrol power, there were a whole load of new cars unveiled. Audi brought its new V8-powered SQ8 SUV, while Porsche offered the first real-world glimpse of the lightest 911 you can buy, the limited-edition 911 S/T. Porsche didn’t stop there, though, also unveiling the most powerful Cayenne you can buy, the new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid! It wasn’t all about power and performance, though - VW also shared the all-new Passat! Naturally, there were SO many electric cars on show. Audi unveiled the interior of the upcoming Q6 e-tron, which features the brand’s all-new Digital Stage infotainment system! Two new MINIs were also unveiled, the MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman, and Chinese brands were also present, notably with BYD showing off the Dolphin hatchback and Seal U SUV! And of course, it wouldn’t be a motor show without a load of concepts to look around! This ranges from the BMW Neue Klasse Concept (a look at how future BMWs may look) through to the Cupra’s shooting brake Dark Rebel and an upcoming all-electric Mercedes G-Class! It’s time for an Audi RS showdown! We’ve got our hands on the all-new Audi RS3 Performance & Audi RS7 Performance, and they’re facing off against an Audi RS5 Competition Plus! So let’s see how the three compare. Starting with the RS3, it’s powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged 5 cylinder that produces 407hp (7hp more than the standard RS3, no less!) and 500Nm of torque. It weighs in at 1,560kg, and it costs around £65,000. But be warned, UK viewers - this one isn’t being released in the UK! Alongside it we have the RS5 Competition Plus. It’s housing a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 under the bonnet which is good for 450hp and 600Nm of torque. As you’d expect, it’s heavier than the RS3, weighing in at 1,695kg, and it also costs more, coming in at around £85,000. Then finally we have the Audi RS7 Performance. It’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8, and this delivers 630hp and 850Nm. It’s the heaviest car here, at 2,065kg, and it’s also the most expensive, costing around £119,000. Now on the face of it, you may think that the MG is set to get absolutely crushed! But trust us, this is no normal MG. You see, whereas the normal MG 4 is equipped with a single electric motor that can deliver 203hp, the XPower comes with dual motors and the ability to produce 435hp and 600Nm of torque! That’s enough to propel it to 60mph in just 3.8 seconds, and amazing, it only costs £36,500! It’s the heaviest car here, though, weighing in at around 1,800kg. Then we have the BMW M2. It comes with the same 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six as found in the latest M3, but the output has been dialled down slightly, so it’ll produce 460hp and 550Nm of torque. This power is delivered to the rear wheels only, and it tips the scales at 1,725kg. If you’re looking to buy one new, it’ll set you back around £65,000.
