2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Review - Does Ford s Electric Car Impress You? Top 10 Coolest Features Of Ford s Take At An All-Electric Crossover Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday! - https://goo.gl/VZstk7 Recommended Books & Car Products - http://amzn.to/2BrekJm EE Shirts! - http://bit.ly/2BHsiuo The Ford Mustang has gone electric! The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is an all-electric crossover, offering options with RWD or AWD, and two battery pack options. This video will focus on the 10 best features of the Mach-E, including exterior features, a large central touchscreen, unique door handles & locks, artificial sounds, and a frunk filled with chicken wings. Ford s Press Release: "For the first time in 55 years, Ford is expanding the Mustang family, bringing the famous pony into the electric age with Mustang Mach-E, an all-new, all-electric SUV born of the same all-American ideals that inspired the best-selling sports coupe in the world. When it arrives in late 2020, Mustang Mach-E will be available with standard and extended-range battery options with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive powered by permanent magnet motors. Equipped with an extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive, Mach-E has a targeted EPA-estimated range of at least 300 miles.1 In extended-range all-wheel-drive configurations, Mach-E is targeting 332 horsepower and 417 lb.-ft. of torque2 – with the standard all-wheel-drive variation targeting quicker times to 60 mph than the base Porsche Macan series.3 Ford also will offer two special performance versions. The GT is targeting 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds, making it faster off the line than a Porsche Macan Turbo. The GT Performance Edition, meanwhile, is targeting a comparable 0-60 mph in the mid-3-second range to a Porsche 911 GTS. Both GT configurations are targeting an estimated 342 kW (459 horsepower) and 830 Nm (612 lb.-ft.) of torque. Mustang Mach-E will be available in both standard-range (75.7 kWh lithium-ion battery) and extended-range (98.8 kWh battery), which has a targeted EPA-estimated range of at least 300 miles in rear-wheel-drive configuration.1 These advanced batteries feature 288 lithium-ion cells in the standard-range version and 376 lithium-ion cells in the extended-range. Designed for ease of manufacturing, the battery is located on the floor between the vehicle’s two axles – and tested at temperatures as extreme as minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The batteries are secured inside a waterproof battery case surrounded by crash-absorption protection. They are liquid-cooled to optimize performance in extreme weather and to improve charging times. As electric vehicle owners do 80 percent of their charging at home, Ford offers a Ford Connected Charging station that can add an estimated average range of 32 miles per charging hour on a 240V outlet, based on extended-range, rear-wheel-drive configuration.7 The Ford mobile charger, included with the vehicle, can add an estimated average range of 22 miles per charging hour on a 240V outlet,7 the same used for a conventional oven. Ford is teaming up with Amazon Home to facilitate easy customer home installation by a licensed electrician." That s not to say the experience has been all balloons and rainbows (both great things), as it hasn t. When Tesla service centers are required, that s when the experience isn t so revolutionary. Long waits, poor communication, and no where to easily order parts. What if you want track package brake pads? Well, good luck. I don t know how to order them. Subaru s New 2.4L Boxer Engine Is The Perfect Match For The BRZ & GT86 A combination of the Subaru BRZ & Subaru Ascent engines leads to a potent 2.4L boxer. Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday! - https://goo.gl/VZstk7 Recommended Books & Car Products - http://amzn.to/2BrekJm EE Shirts! - http://bit.ly/2BHsiuo Deep dive into the 2022 Subaru BRZ 2.4L Boxer engine. This is a naturally aspirated version of the 2.4L turbo coming out of the Subaru Ascent. In this video we ll look at how it stacks up versus the previous BRZ engine, discuss why it s a good decision to keep it naturally aspirated, look at the torque curve, discuss wheel torque, and look into Toyota s D-4S direct plus port injection fuel system, as well as the advantages of such system. Subaru s Press Release: "Running counter to the current trend of power over precision, the 2022 Subaru BRZ focuses on simplicity and fun. Designed to deliver an unmatched driving experience, the all-new BRZ features a new and more powerful 228 horsepower 2.4-liter horizontally opposed engine. Sitting low in the chassis, the Subaru BOXER’s unique design allows the BRZ to achieve a Center of Gravity (CoG) even lower than the previous BRZ and on par with exotic hyper-cars. The ultra-low CoG is critical to delivering unrivaled handling, with a low polar moment and quick reaction to driver inputs. The 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine redlines at 7,000 RPM and delivers a 15-percent increase in torque. The 2022 BRZ will be offered in both Premium and Limited trims and is available with two transmission choices; a standard six-speed manual or an available six-speed automatic with a new Sport mode designed for more aggressive driving. The new Sport mode allows for more rapid downshifts with automatic throttle blipping and utilizes yaw sensors to hold the transmission in a lower gear during hard cornering to maximize performance. Despite its sporting intentions, the 2022 Subaru BRZ does not sacrifice everyday comfort and practicality. The 2+2 seating and folding rear seats create a useful cargo area that has space for carrying a mountain bike, golf clubs, or even four race tires and tools for track days. Utilizing aluminum for the roof, front fenders and hood, the 2022 Subaru BRZ has an estimated curb weight of just under 2,900 lbs., delivering on its promise of accessible performance. The BRZ’s bold new styling is as impressive as its handling prowess. The overall impression is modern, agile and powerful, with focused and functional aerodynamic details. The tidy coupe design is just over an inch longer and almost half an inch lower than its predecessor, resulting in a low and wide frontal area set off by large functional air intakes. The grille is set low and is capped by proud fender arches that allow just enough room for suspension points. A narrowed greenhouse accentuates the bold fender flares and the roofline features a subtle “double bubble” appearance, a nod to vintage racing cars. The aggressive design flows into bold front fenders with a large side vent. The functional side vent reduces drag by ducting air from under the hood and fenders. The released air is directed to a side sill spoiler that creates downforce at speed. A small fin at the back of the rear-wheel arch also assists in airflow adding stability at speed. At the rear of the car, the large rear fenders and wider track flow into dual exhausts for a low and wide stance. This visual heft is lightened by a narrower greenhouse and rear hatch which flow into a dramatic upturned “ducktail” rear spoiler." Brake Specific Fuel Consumption - How Massive Engines Can Be Efficient Comparing Engine Performance: BMEP - https://youtu.be/bE_1JYrlYYU Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday! - https://goo.gl/VZstk7 Recommended Books & Car Products - http://amzn.to/2BrekJm EE Shirts! - http://bit.ly/2BHsiuo Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC) is a great way to compare the efficiency of engines. It s often referred to in units of g/kWh, (for example: 200 g/kWh) and represents the amount of fuel flowing into the engine versus how much power the engine actually makes. BSFC is directly correlated to the efficiency of an engine. The lower the BSFC, the more efficient an engine is. In this video we ll define brake specific fuel consumption, show how it correlates with efficiency, look at a BSFC map, compare BSFC with RPM, air-fuel ratio, and engine size, and talk about ways of optimizing BSFC. We ll also look at how you can analyze the BSFC of your car engine if you have an MPG readout. This is helpful in determining what the best gear to be in for maximum efficiency. Is The Toyota Rav4 Prime A Better Buy Versus A Tesla Model Y? Are Electric Cars Worse For The Environment? https://youtu.be/6RhtiPefVzM Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday! - https://goo.gl/VZstk7 Recommended Books & Car Products - http://amzn.to/2BrekJm EE Shirts! - http://bit.ly/2BHsiuo The 2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime is simply a fantastic vehicle. 42 miles of electric range, a 2.5L engine for a total combined driving range of nearly 600 miles, 302 combined horsepower, zero-to-sixty in under 6 seconds, 2,500 lb towing capacity, plenty of cargo space, 8.3 inches of ground clearance, and a clever AWD system. There’s an electric motor for both the front and rear axle which are independently controlled, also allowing for AWD in EV only mode. Perhaps the most impressive feature, is that while packaging all of those motors and batteries, it still manages to fit a spare tire in the back. The Rav4 Prime is like a combination between a Subaru Forester and a Tesla Model Y, and that s a good thing! It s a no compromise solution towards creating lower emission vehicles, so the obvious question becomes: could a Rav4 Prime actually be better for the environment than a Tesla? Check out the video for all the details. Miles Per Gallon (mpg) is a dumb unit we use in the United States. Recommended Books & Car Products - http://amzn.to/2BrekJm Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday! - https://goo.gl/VZstk7 EE Shirts! - http://bit.ly/2BHsiuo In the United States, we measure fuel economy with miles per gallon (mpg), rather than gallons per 100 miles, or liters per 100 kilometers. Using distance per volume of fuel consumed causes a rather weird scenario for comparison purposes however, which is perhaps why the rest of the world does the reverse: volume of fuel consumed per distance driven. Enjoy the video to see how the math causes complications with MPG that don t exist when using G/100mi or L/100km. Engineering Explained is a participant in the Amazon Influencer Program. 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Review - A Masterclass Of Driver s Cars Subscribe to Engineering Explained for more videos! - https://goo.gl/VZstk7 Recommended Books & Car Products - http://amzn.to/2BrekJm EE Shirts! - http://bit.ly/2BHsiuo The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 was made to smash lap times, with a sub 7-minute trip around Nurburgring, making it faster than the Porsche 918. The rear mounted engine is a naturally aspirated, 4.0L boxer six-cylinder, producing 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque. The car weighs 3,126 lbs with a manual transmission - you read correctly, it will indeed offer a manual transmission, or 3,164 lbs with 7-speed PDK. The car is wider, has more grip, and the engine is nearly direct out of the GT3 Cup racecar. Significant effort has gone into taking weight out of the car. Removing the rear seats takes out 22 lbs. An optional carbon fiber roof can remove 2 lbs. A reduction in sound deadening vs the 992 pulls out 4.2 lbs. A thinner liner behind the seats removes 2.6 pounds. Carbon bucket seats pull out 33 lbs. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes pull out 39 lbs vs the standard brakes. Versus the previous GT3, 10.4 lbs have been removed by lightweight glass, 5.5 lbs from the front fascia and hood, 1.1 lbs from the rear fascia, 3 lbs from the front wheels, and 22 lbs from the lightweight stainless steel exhaust. Engine revisions and revised engine mounts have pulled out 16.7 lbs and 7.7 lbs respectively, and there’s now a lithium ion battery that pulls out 22 lbs vs the GT3, which is centrally mounted behind the front hood.
