My old K member was for the i6 and would not accommodate the new V8 engine I m putting in the Fairmont. I had to swap the K member no matter what. I decided to go with a tubular K member and I purchased a used one from a viewer out in Washington state. Since my Fairmont is a fox body, this video will apply to Mustangs and other fox bodies. One thing to note. I did not show how to properly align a K member in this video. I plan on making a future video on how to do that. In the mean time, you can use the information in this video to help you sort that out. http://powernationtv.com/episode/EP2014-13/barely-legal-mustang-part-2 If you re looking for a K member for you fox body, check out Maximum Motorsports: http://www.maximummotorsports.com Previous video in the #FairmontProject series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ujajK758qo The best place for answers to your automotive questions: http://www.ericthecarguy.com Camera: Brian Kast Thanks for watching! Check out Kalvinator Engines: http://www.kalvinatorengines.com I ve always wondered what process and what tool they used to do this with. Now I know. I looked up the tool for cam bearing installation and found they’re not as expensive as Justin said. Cam Bearing Tool: https://www.jbtoolsales.com/lisle-18000-universal-camshaft-bearing-tool-1-125-to-2-69-in-case#oid=1002_1 I also believe you can rent one of these tools instead of buying it outright. So if you’re considering installing cam bearings yourself, you can use the information in this video and a quality cam tool to get that job done. Me, I’m going to have Justin do it just because it’s easier. Special thanks to Justin Frische on this one for helping us with this video, and also doing such a great job on my engine. Here s a link to the video where I relocated the battery (it s also the previous video in the series): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IF8cHIjmUY8 If you need to know how to remove and replace a fuel tank in a Ford Fox Body vehicle, this video will help you. While relocating my battery to the trunk, I discovered I needed to drop my fuel tank to gain access to some of the fasteners. I decided to make this video on how to R&R the fuel tank. With that said, it s likely I ll be running a fuel cell in my car sometime in the future. This video will still be helpful if you re looking to remove or install a fuel tank in your fox body Ford. Just know that I will be doing a future video on the fuel system I ll be running. Check out Kalvinator Engines: http://www.kalvinatorengines.com Let s be honest, I m sure anyone can do this work with a good driver. However, this is another one of those jobs you can have your local machine shop do when they prep your engine block for assembly. I think the biggest take away with this video is the nomenclature. I ve always called these freeze plugs . It appears that s incorrect and we should start calling them core plugs . I m OK with that. Yes, I did go with brass core plugs. Steel plugs are cheaper, but they tend to rust. They both seal the same if properly installed. The brass just looks better and doesn t corrode like steel. It s up to you what you use. Thanks again to Justin Frische for his help in this video. Since my turbo is taking up the space that used to be occupied by my battery, I needed to move it. It’s common practice in a ‘hot rod’ to relocate the battery to the trunk, or boot, depending on where you’re from. In my case, I needed to remove the fuel tank to make that happen. You may or may not run into this issue. I just want to prepare you in case you do need to remove it. Here’s a link to the video where I removed the fuel tank: Video link posted when available. I realize this isn’t 100% complete. I still need to run the positive cable. I’ll be covering that in a future video when I remove the interior to install the new wiring harness. Till then, this should get you started. Broken outer door handles on 1996-2004 Acura/Honda RL s is a common problem. This video shows you all the steps on how to replace the outer door handle on your RL if you have a broken one. It can be difficult to access some of the parts, and disconnecting the rod from the door handle mechanism can result in breakage. Therefore I would recommend you consider purchasing the inner part of the door handle, or make sure your local parts store has it in stock before you start the procedure. You may also need to have some parts painted, but if you get your part directly from the manufacturer you won t have to worry about that. You ll just need the color code for your vehicle which I show the location of in the video. Previous video in the series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cexlY__Cf-I This video is part of a series of videos showing the upgrades to the rear suspension of my #FairmontProject. After talking with the people at Maximum Motorsports I realized that my rear suspension was not up to the task of the power my engine was putting out. So I decided to upgrade it with Maximum Motorsports parts. I have not regretted that decision since. If you have a fox body Ford, this is a great upgrade to help with traction and performance. I highly recommend it. Special thanks to Jack Hindley and Kolton Sinclaire for all their help. Sorry about the audio on this one. Me and my wireless mic are having relationship issues right now. That said, I’d like to know if you want me to do with some of the #ETCGDadsTruck videos. I have a lot of detail, but I’m not sure if my YouTube audience is interested in that detail as much as they are in seeing the truck come to completion ASAP. This is where you come in. Let me know in the comments if I should post the detailed videos to YouTube, or post them for Premium Members of EricTheCarGuy.com. The majority will rule. This is a 1990 GMT400, but I suspect the process is similar on all GMT400 trucks that ran from 1989-1999. I also start work on the engine compartment in this episode. If you’re running a roller cam, it’s very likely that you’ll need to locate the camshaft somehow. In my 383 stroker I used a nylon cam button to keep the cam in it’s place. I wasn’t able to find any real information about installing one of these so I made this video. I hope it’s helpful to you. This video is an excerpt from a longer video where I build a 383 stroker for my 1990 C1500 pick up, #ETCGDadsTruck. https://youtu.be/h7qowMqZXRA Camera: Brian Kast, Eric Cook My Patreon Account: https://www.patreon.com/EricTheCarGuy The best place for answers to your automotive questions: http://www.ericthecarguy.com Check out the ETCG Blog for the latest info: https://www.ericthecarguy.com/blog Check out my ETCG1 channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/ETCG1?sub_confirmation=1 Summit Racing: https://www.summitracing.com/redirect?banner=SOCIALFB190421 Thanks for watching!
