2003 Nissan Sentra Power Steering Rack & High PSI Power Steering Hose Replacement -Fixing it Forward
The 2003 Nissan Sentra Power Steering Rack & High PSI Power Steering Hose Replacement video is the 3rd video in the Nissan Sentra SE-R repair series. Yes, the video is almost 50min long, but trust me, it took a lot longer than that to do. In fact, this one left my arms cut and sore for days after the repair. As I say in the video however, it s nothing compared to what Jerry Hall, the owner, went through during his time in the service when an airplane fell on him. For more on that, watch this video. Jerry Hall s 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Fixing it Forward Project -Fixing it Forward: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2XDBXSEvYI With that said, this is a comprehensive video covering the replacement of the power steering rack and high psi power steering hose in the 2003 Nissan Sentra. I throw in the tie rod ends just for good measure. So if you re looking to see what you might be in for with this job, watch the video. We still have a few more things to fix on this vehicle before it goes back to Jerry so stay tuned. Camera: Brian Kast Eric Cook Thanks for watching! Do Steel Braided Brake Lines Make Your Car Stop Better? That s what I was looking to find out when I made this video. I ve said in other videos that using steel braided brake lines are a good performance upgrade for your vehicle and I stand by that. In fact, the Nissan Sentra in the Fixing it Forward series had steel braided brake lines and it s brake pedal felt awesome. Well, things didn t quite turn out as I expected when I did this job, but it s still a nice tutorial about installing steel braided brake lines on your vehicle. If you need to get a window motor or regulator out of a Honda, this video will likely help. Things are only slightly different for rear windows. Be sure to check out the video I did about adding power in the yard for more info on how to move the window. By the way, if the window motor won t move when you add power and ground, you might look for a different one. If you re not familiar with Pull-A-Part, they re a self service salvage company in the US. They have 25 yards in 12 states. I m not just saying this, but they ve become my favorite place to go for salvage parts. I suggest you check them out. All of the information in this video will also apply to the GM 12 bolt as well as other differentials of this type. The #FairmontProject needed a new differential. The stock 7.5" wasn t going to cut it. So I got an 8.8" out of an 86 Mustang. The Mustang rear end had Traction-lock, but I m not reusing that carrier. Since I m upgrading to 31 spline axles, I needed to upgrade it anyway. Perhaps at some point I ll go back and do a rebuild of the stock traction-lock differential, but since I was upgrading anyway, it really wasn t necessary. ***I show how to make a set up bearing in this video. I learned the hard way that this may not always work out. If you are going to use a set up bearing, I recommend purchasing 2 new pinion head bearings and using one for set up. You can purchase set up bearings separately, but they are way more expensive than just getting a second bearing. If you’re curious about what’s inside a Honda power steering rack, watch this video. In it, I completely disassemble the power steering rack I took out of my 2012 Honda Odyssey. The reason I replaced the rack was because of a small vibration in the steering wheel when going over bumps. The van was in a collision before I purchased it and I believe the rack was damaged during that incident. Be sure to watch the entire video to see what caused the vibration. See below for the video about replacing the power steering rack in my 2012 Odyssey. It s an SUV that s genuinely fantastic to drive. It s also not that great at being an SUV. The Stelvio QV packs a 2.9L twin-turbo V6 under the hood producing 505 horsepower; it s enough to take it from 0-60 in just 3.6 seconds. 3.6 seconds in an SUV! The Stelvio has a clever AWD system, rear biased, and a 50/50 weight distribution. Hard not to smile in something this good, check out the video for the full review, including the flaws. **Sponsored Post** It was totally awesome that I got to the F1 race in Montreal Canada 2016. While I was there, I got to tour the Ferrari garage and also Shell s mobile lab where they test the fuel and oil in their race cars. To say that Shell puts a lot of effort into these fluids is a gross understatement. Did I mention they have a mobile lab where they test every aspect of their fluids during a race? Their efforts have paid off as they have significantly increased the performance of Ferrari s cars. I m told they put the same effort into the fuels and oils they sell to the public. That being the case, why not try them for yourself. I m not saying you re vehicle will turn into an F1 race car, but your vehicle will thank you for treating it like one. :) Special thanks to my friends @GarageMonkey for setting me up with this trip! You guys are awesome.
