I ll admit, I have a thing for Fords of this vintage. This 1965 Comet however, was an exceptional build in my opinion, and yes I know it s a Mercury. That said, I have to thank Chad Hill of Hot Rod Chassis and Cycle for his time and this interview. I think they did a great job of keeping things classic but turning the volume up just enough to keep things interesting . 600hp is nothing to sneeze at and the 6 speed and 4:10 s will move it along nicely. The Engineering Behind Formula E - How It Works. How does a Formula E car work? We’ll be breaking down the science and strategy behind the battery, the motor, the transmission, the tires, the aerodynamics, the suspension, the brakes and regen, the cooling system, and of course the very unique aspect of the sport of having two cars per driver, swapped mid race. The 170 kW (approximately 230 HP) electric motor used in season 1 of Formula E was developed originally for the McLaren P1 supercar, and at its development it had the greatest power density of any automotive electric motor in the world, with 8 kW per kg. The regulations are now open, so teams can use more than one motor if they’d like, and develop the motors themselves. While the power output can never exceed 170 kW during a race, you can alter the efficiency of the motor, meaning you’ll be able to run flat out longer than other teams if your motor is more efficient. With the weight of the car, including the driver, at just 900 kg (or under 2000 lbs), the cars can hit 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. I go through my prices of diagnosing the transmission to see what the issue is. Let s just say, it s not looking good. I told him it would make a great video so we brought it into the shop to shoot the video. This job turned out to be more than I bargained for. I ended up getting quite a work out from swinging my hammers. Yes, I used all my hammers on this job. I also put some miles in chasing the right parts. If you watching this Moog, change your listing for this part as it does NOT include the hub as you have listed in your catalog. In fact, I don t see how you could include the hub without also including the fasteners for the wheel bearing. There s no way to get those in there without separating the hub from the bearing. Still, we got through it and made this video. Cameraman Brian is now VERY happy with his new wheel bearing, hub, and axle. As for symptoms, he had an occasional noise when moving from reverse to drive, but that s about it. Like I say in the video, when wheel bearings get quiet, that s when you start to worry. Also, a problem like this does NOT cause a vibration, according to popular belief. If you decide to do this job yourself, I recommend you get a hub as well as a bearing to avoid all the issues I went through in this video. Also, a shop press would come in very handy for this job. I reached out to Sunex and they provided me with this 7793C 1/2 ton unit. I ve used my share of transmission jacks and this one was by far the most stable. It made light work of this Chrysler transmission. I have every reason to believe it would work just as well on a much heavier transmission. I m sure you ve noted that I reviewed the 7793C but listed the 7793B in the description here. It seems one model as replaced the other, or they re interchangeable. I think the only difference is the name. Lastly you might check out the rest of the tools available from Sunex. I ve been using their impact sockets for years and never had any issues. In early May 2015 I drove down to Frankfort KY to look at a 1982 Mustang in a Walmart parking lot. I ended up taking her home. Here s the first look at the donor car that will contribute many of the parts for my Ford Fairmont project. A lot of the essential components are there, but there is much work to be done as you ll see in the video. Considering what I paid and what I got, I m not disappointed. I believe I ll be able to get most of the parts I need for the project. The engine is a 302 bored out to 306. It has Ford racing heads as well as other upgraded internals. I ll likely dig in to check those out at some point. The car is a 5 speed with 3:08 gears and a welded differential. The suspension is defiantly shot, but I may be able to recondition it and use it. I ll just have to figure out how I can swap over the driveshaft and exhaust. For now I m driving the car to sort out the issues. When the day comes, I ll drop out all the parts I m using and get to work installing them in the fairmont. I m very much looking forward to that day. BTW, I LOVE the noise it makes.
