Matt Henry aka Imperial Beach Dad was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer 5 years ago but he doesn t let that stop him from playing with cars. Instead of letting that get him down he instead pushes to #StayStoked as he uses his 1967 LS Swapped Mustang Project car aka the Punishstang as therapy. I (Matt Myrick aka Busted Knuckle) have been around off road motorsports for most of my life and I have done some really cool stuff along the way. To this day there are still a few things left on my Off Road Bucket List. Well this is the show where we cross those items off one by one starting with the top of my list and that is Trophy Truck Racing in Baja. This all started with a call from Jax Redline of Redline Racing Texas who is one of the youngest Unlimited trophy truck drivers ever. He offered me the co driver spot for the upcoming Mayhem 175 San Felipe desert race and after much thought I gladly accepted. This put me riding shotgun in a 1100 horsepower Brenthel Industries Unlimited Trophy Truck. This is my first time being a co driver ever and my first desert racing trucks experience. I flew to Arizona where I met Jax and headed across the border prerunner in tow. One we made it to San Felipe Baja California we unloaded and got right to making course notes. I had less than 24 hours to learn their system of navigating so we had the best chance to win. My first ride in the Brenthel trophy truck happened during qualifying where we ended up 5 seconds faster than anyone else. This put us first off the line the next day with 3 laps to complete in this 175 mile endurance race. Well shortly after leaving the line we found out that we had a huge problem. The hood was flying up and blocking our vision anytime we got over 100 mph which was a lot of the fast paced first lap. We pulled into the pits after lap 1 where the pit crew removed the hood and splashed us with fuel and we were back off still in the lead. Our laps continued to get faster until we came around for the final 25 miles of lap 3 where we got a flat rear tire. We pulled over and changed the tire faster than we imagined since we had not practiced that at all before the race. Before we knew it we were back on our way heading towards the finish still in physical 1st place. Then disaster struck. On the final dune climb 200 yards from the finish line our rear end blew and we had no more power as the engine just revved sky high. Lucky for us we had enough momentum to cross the finish line still in physical first. Later we would find out if the tire change would cost us the overall win. We were able to go wheeling again but came into a very strange problem of not being able to steer what so ever? Just when you thought the Pull-A-Part Cheap Jeep Challenge BleepinJeep vs Busted Knuckle Films presented by Tekton Tools couldn t get any better we loaded up our Cheap Jeeps and hauled them to the Mecca of offroading. That s right we spent a week in Moab Utah to see just what these 2 Jeep Cherokee Rock Crawler builds could do. Day 1 we decided to do a warm up trail of Moab Rim to get acquainted with the traction of this slick rock. Both of us did very little cheap jeep mods to these $5000 Jeeps since the last competition. This rock bouncing machine started with our 2021 Ride rock bouncer chassis and features a 635 Horsepower 427 LS engine, mated to a Turbo 400 and Atlas 3.0 Pro Case. Our heavy duty 1410 driveshafts transfer the power to front and rear steering BKOR 14 bolt axles featuring our own 40 spline axle shafts. 4 link front and Trailing Arm rear boasts an impressive 16 inches of travel and 25 inches that all gets dampened thanks to some Radflo Coilovers and triple bypasses. Well we put it to a vote online on whether we should take the JKU to Moab, Utah for Easter Jeep Safari 2021 or the $5K Budget Cherokee Build. This build started with our Production Busted Knuckle Off Road Rock Bouncer Ride Chassis because we knew it could handle the power and abuse of the Mountain Havoc racing that Justin does out West while still delivering the comfort he needed for the trails. For power we went with a 427 Stroker LS with a Supercharger bolted on top. This should put it around 900 Horsepower reliably with an amazing torque curve. Some BKOR built steering Dana 80s will handle the power delivered through the built TH400 and SCS Straight drive transfer case. Of course Radflo Coilovers and Bypasses at every corner with that signature Jake Burkey valving will keep the vehicle planted. Our electric auto centering rear steer will help it maneuver while massive 300M 47 spline RCVs handle the abuse as the Cut 46 inch USDs wrapped around forged beadlocks help move earth and propel this beast out of any mud and rocks it encounters. Top it all off with an eye catching color scheme that makes this one of my favorite Busted Knuckle Builds to date. This build really tested us. It came down to the wire because of manufacturers and being able to get parts in time. But when we set a deadline we will do everything we can to meet it. Even if that means putting someone on a plane to go get an engine and drive it back to the shop. In the end we delivered a full blown race ready rock bouncer on time at a great price with unmatched quality. Justin hauled it all the way back out West to a Race and immediately put it on the podium. Some of the Baddest Mega Trucks in the World traveled to Mid America Outdoors in Jay, Oklahoma to put on a show and do some Mega Truck Racing for the crowd. They also threw down some wicked mega truck freestyle runs. The Mid America Mega truck jumped a school bus while towing a boat that was on fire and we ended the night with Weston Anderson breaking the Mega Truck long jump World Record in King Sling at 225 . This smashed the previous record of only 175 feet. This time on Busted Knuckle Builds it is time for a new chassis design. Now that our Ride Chassis has taken off we thought it was time to build a new chassis. One with 14" front shocks allowing for much better vision out the front of the vehicle. We also did a flat roof on this one to keep things simple. One piece panels on the sides give it more of an Ultra4 look. Jake Burkey and the crew at Busted Knuckle Off Road went all out on this build with an optional windshield, backup camera, and custom passenger grab handles and foot rest. The best part was having it on display at Rock The South concert in front of 60,000 people. The lines of this Rock Bouncer Build really sets it off and might just be my favorite yet.
