Paul Cangialosi came by the shop to help me rebuild the T5 Transmission that s going into my 1979 Ford Fairmont Project. While we were doing the rebuild, I asked if Paul wouldn t mind talking about the operation of a manual transmission since we had the gear set out of the case anyway. He agreed, and you get this awesome video talking about how manual transmissions work from the master himself. You re welcome. Camera: Brian Kast Thanks for watching! In this video I show you how to replace the input shaft bearing on a 2005 Honda Civic manual transmission. This information will also apply to older Honda manual transmissions found in Civics an Acura Integras and can serve as a basic guide for rebuilding Honda manual transmissions. The issue with this transmission was a noise when the engine was running and the transmission was in neutral. The noise also occurred when driving the car and running through the gears. The only time the noise would go away was when the clutch was depressed and the transmission was disengaged from the running engine. Thirty five years later I am still enjoying my remote controll toy that I bought new in 1983. The Tamiya Subaru Brat was having a speed controller issue. This mechanical part controls the electric current flow to the motor for forward and reverse control. The copper contacts were worn out and needed to be replaced. Finding a mechanical controller is almost impossible because they are not made anymore. My option was to upgrade to an electronic speed controller. In this video I show how I replaced the ESC. The upgrade works very well. I also upgraded the stock motor to make more torque and speed. It s been a really fun improvement. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the Ozzstar channel. When replacing a clutch should you have the existing flywheel resurfaced or purchase new? It s important for the new clutch disc to sit flat and make good contact with the flywheel and pressure plate for proper operation. Original flywheels parts can be resurfaced or aftermarket parts are available at a reasonable price. Sometimes using aftermarket parts can sacrifice quality. In this video I discuss what I chose and why. It s important to get it right because nobody wants to have to pull out the transmission for a new part that fails. A pilot bearing is located either in the end of the crankshaft or in the flywheel of a manual transmission vehicle. It is best to replace the bearing when the transmission is removed for service such as a new clutch being installed. A pilot bearing or pilot bushing stabilizes the end of the input shaft that the clutch disc rides along, which is a splined shaft and smooth on the end. The most common methods for removal are a puller tool which grabs the bearing from the back and presses it out. The other method for removal is packing the center with grease and/or bread. It is driven in with a dowel or rod and forces the grease to push the bearing out from the backside. In this video I show both methods and what worked best in this case. In this video a rear main seal is removed from a Ford Ranger. Many one piece seals have a similar removal and installation process. If an oil leak is noticed between the back of the engine block and the front of the transmission, where they connect, it may be a leaking rear main seal. The purpose of the seal is to contain the engine oil at the back of the crankshaft. Other oil leaks can sometimes appear to be a rear main seal so proper diagnosis is important. Oil pressure sensors, leaking valve cover and oil pan gaskets are some areas to check beforehand. The transmission has to be removed to do this repair so there can be a lot of labor involved. This truck has 139K miles on it and was getting a new clutch installed so this was the time to get it done right. My mistake was thinking the camera was running while installing the new seal, sorry it wasn t. My apologizes to you.
