The Solar System is a really big place, and it takes forever to travel from world to world with traditional chemical rockets. But one technique, developed back in the 1960s might provide a way to dramatically shorten our travel times: nuclear rockets. Of course, launching a rocket powered by radioactive material has its own risks as well. Should we attempt it? The French Revolution in 1789 had a major impact on French society, as it meant the end of an era of absolute monarchy. Old ideas of hierarchy and power were replaced by new ones, including the emergence of the bourgeoisie. Of course, these social changed left its trails in the culinary world. As is shown in this episode, Paris was the birthplace of the first restaurants where the Nouveaux Riches wined and dined. Lets Cook History is an entertaining and informative five part series exploring the origins of European cooking and eating habits. Each episode reconstructs a famous meal on from a different period in history, depicting the evolution of tastes, customs and world trades that have shaped the contemporary cuisine. Estonia and Latvia Fight For Independence - Russian Civil War Baltic Front I THE GREAT WAR June 1919

In episode 3 of this survival series we finally get to check our lobster traps which we set off the shores of Maine 2 day previous. The goal of the challenge is to maintain our body weight through foraging wild foods only. Full Season 5 Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDg2Qmw9pKiclzO_J5N1JwadNm3aWXXNV Malcolm The Hidden Woodsman": https://thehiddenwoodsmen.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thehiddenwoodsmen/?hl=en Check out Zach Fowler: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2h_ncHoP2v6OO_zFsMuOPQ We also are looking for other wild foods like turkey as it is the spring season. We do manage to get a red squirrel in a catch and cook which we add to our smoked fish. The goal is to replace any calories we burn foraging for wild foods in order to balance our energy expenditures as modern foragers. We bait our lobster traps with alewife or river herring which we dip netted the day before. This is all about survival and eating the foods that we can easily forage and scavenge from wild sources. We are really trying to balance our calories eating only wild edibles. We will show you how to cook and clean the clams and eat the stomach. We will remove the skin and also purge and wash the clams and boil in water. Malcolm makes a dandelion wild spinach boiled green. The Wilderness Living Challenge is not a "survival challenge," but more like a test of the modern hunter gatherer to sustain himself on wild foods only. We will weight ourselves at the start of the challenge and weight out at the end. If we lose any weight at all, we lose the challenge! Follow along as we struggle to get wild foods! I am joined by Zach Fowler on his home turf in Maine, USA in the spring. Here, we plan to do Season 5 of The Wilderness Living Challenge. The goal of the challenge is to gain or maintain our body weight eating only the wild food we can collect on site using whatever means necessary. Winning the Wilderness Living Challenge is harder than it seems. Season 5: Maine Spring, takes place in Maine, USA with coastal food priorities including fish, clams, crab, seaweed, groundhog, pigeon, turkey, dandelion, cattail, and whatever else is edible! Nothing is off the menu, if it s edible, we ll eat it. We make use of all the resources in this challenge to meet the demands for calories imposed by the human body! Colmar is famous for its wonderfully preserved old town, with half-timbered medieval and early Renaissance buildings, uneven cobblestone streets, gothic 13th-century church. The Alsace region has been alternated between France and Germany over the years and the old town presents amazing mix of both cultures. Colmar is on the Alsace Wine Route. Humanity didn t recognize the second most abundant element in the known universe until the nineteenth century. A significant source on earth wasn t discovered until 1903. Boat School in Bangladesh and Roleplay School in Denmark | Planet School | S01 E01| Free Documentary
School In Bangladesh and Denmark. Kawser in Bangladesh doesn t go to school. School comes to him on a boat! Stella s school in Denmark is floating as well – at least in the pupils imagination... A roleplaying game turns the entire school into the Titanic. Since Bangladesh is often flooded during the rainy season, Kawser s school has been built on a boat. The project was funded by donations from around the world and without putting any financial strain on the children s families. Kawser and his friends see the floating school as a window into the world. Most of the children have no electrical power at home. On the boat, they can watch teaching films and even use the internet. This week, Kawser will face a very special test: He is participating in the swimming competition for the first time. The winner gets a solar lamp to take home. It would give enough light to study by or play even after the sun has set. Of course, Kawser ABSOLUTELY wants to win that lamp... Stella attends a roleplaying school in Denmark. The motto changes every week – and the teachers will align all parts of the lessons with it. This week, the motto is "Titanic". Stella chooses a historical costume for it, her classroom turns into the ship s cabin and the kids get to build life boats in Physics class. Just like the real Titanic, the ship in the Danish Osterskov Efterskole will go down in the end. Stella has a very special task: She gets to rescue all the children who do not manage to build their own life boats. It s just that the teachers won t tell her HOW until the last minute… __________________________________________________________ Subscribe Free Documentary Channel for free: https://bit.ly/2YJ4XzQ Facebook: https://bit.ly/2QfRxbG Twitter: https://bit.ly/2QlwRiI __________________________________________________________ #FreeDocumentary #Documentary #PlanetSchool #School #Bangladesh #Denmark __________________________________________________________ Free Documentary is dedicated to bring high-class documentaries to you on youtube for free. You ever feel like just makin’ stuff? On this episode of StarTalk Radio, Neil deGrasse Tyson sits down with the master of making stuff – Adam Savage. Neil and Adam are joined in studio by comic co-host Chuck Nice to answer fan-submitted questions about creativity, "MythBusters", engineering, and a whole lot more. You’ll learn some insider info about Adam’s time hosting the wildly popular show "MythBusters": whether they ever invented anything by accident, why they had to destroy some test footage for public safety, and what surprised Adam the most about his work on the show. You’ll hear about the “Duct Tape” Island episode where he and his co-host Jamie Hyneman were dropped on an island with nothing to survive but duct tape. We investigate Adam’s work with 3D-printed titanium for his new show Savage Builds and break down the chirality of objects. Head to the theater as Neil and Adam bond over the movie Excalibur. You’ll learn what movies make Neil’s Top 5 favorite films list. Adam tells us about his obsession with armor and his build of a replica of King Arthur’s suit. He shares his experience working with legendary filmmaker Peter Jackson to make a short film called A Farewell to Arms. Explore the creative process. Adam and Neil share their methods for getting over builder’s block and writer’s block. We debate which will have more of an impact on the future: mechanical know how or advancements in material science? We ponder inventions from science fiction that may soon come to fruition, including room temperature superconduction and artificial intelligence. Lastly, you’ll hear why failures in the creative process should instead be called “iterations on the path to success.” All that, plus, Adam reveals how long it takes him to come up with a truly new idea. #StarTalk #MythBusters #AdamSavage This episode originally aired on StarTalk Radio on May 24, 2019. Join us at the bushcraft viking house in the woods for a viking feast! The building of this bushcraft shelter was done using hand tools only, over the period of roughly 9 days. We used an axe, knife, and saw for most of the build, but we also used traditional woodworking tools such as an auger and a drawknife for some of the mortise and tenon joints and timber framing. The house is based on an a-frame design and we used cedar logs for this. In this special episode of the bushcraft viking house, we created an edited down version of all of the feasts and cooking that we have done throughout the series. We cooked on Petromax cast iron dutch ovens and wrought iron skillets.
