Pangolins, native to Asia and Africa, are threatened with extinction. Their meat is considered a delicacy in Africa and their scales are sold as a health remedy in Asia. The protected animals are poached and smuggled on a large scale. Pangolins are the most smuggled animals in the world - and demand is growing. Asian pangolins recently made headlines when they were suspected of being carriers of the COVID-19 coronavirus. On the banks of the Congo River, the pangolin sells for just a few euros. But in cities like Kinshasa, its meat sells for a hundred times that price and - although illegal - is eaten in the best restaurants. Even more profitable is the sale of pangolin scales, which are highly prized in Asia for their supposed medicinal properties. The native Asian pangolins are already nearly extinct. The film shows how just a handful of these animals can be rescued during police raids, then reintroduced into the wild by dedicated conservationists. Following the explorers’ journey up the Orinoco from mouth to source, we discover a delta haunted by pumas and festooned with Scarlet Ibis; a river that’s home to South America’s largest predator, the Orinoco Crocodile; Los Llanos – the swampy realm of the world’s largest rodent and its numerous predators; Mount Roraima – the spectacular flat-top mountain that inspired Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World and Pixar’s movie Up; and the tropical jungle home of hallucinating shamans and tarantula-hunters. The Orinoco was the first river in South America to be discovered, and the last to disclose its source. Its future is uncertain, but for now it still bonds some of Latin America’s most spectacular natural wonders - the real treasures of El Dorado.

I also build a primitive shelter using natural materials with the help of snow, branches, a shovel and a saw under a fallen tree. I use my pot to make rabbit stew and to boil water for drinking. Winter survival is all about staying warm, and more importantly, staying dry. After survival is taken care of, it s all about making your situation even better. Finding food, water, and making a shelter is a must to create ultimate survival comfort. I use a saw and basic tools to make a bushcrafter shelter in the Canadian forest using materials around us like tree branches. Thankfully there is plenty of snow to make water, but first a fire is needed to survive as eating snow cools the body and is difficult on the body s system. Thankfully we have a small billy can or steel water pot for boiling water. I m really settling in to the cabin this winter and I am finally able to get some of the important projects done, especially safety issues like building the stairs and railing in the breezeway down to the root cellar. During the cold winter, I eat a lot of protein and fat so I m constantly cooking bear and venison on the wood stove, which is stored in the solar powered freezer in the basement along with potatoes and carrots in the back portion of the cellar. How British Mutineers Colonized Pitcairn Islands? The Mutiny of HMS Bounty is a historical event that occurred in 1789 when a group of mutineers, led by Fletcher Christian, overthrew their commanding officer, Captain William Bligh, on the Royal Navy ship HMS Bounty. This event has become legendary due to its dramatic nature and the subsequent trials and tribulations of the mutineers. The HMS Bounty was originally sent on a mission to transport breadfruit plants from Tahiti to the West Indies, where they were to be used to feed slaves. However, tensions on board grew as the crew endured a long, arduous journey and Bligh s harsh treatment of his subordinates. Eventually, Christian and his followers rebelled, taking control of the ship and casting Bligh and some of his loyal crew adrift in a small boat. The mutineers settled on Pitcairn Island, where they attempted to establish a new society. However, their idyllic existence was short-lived as infighting and disease took their toll. In the centre of South America, a vast, wild expanse; the world’s largest wetland. But this is no ordinary swamp. Every year it’s drowned by immense floods, then parched by severe drought. Yet while people struggle to cope, the Pantanal hosts some of the greatest gatherings of animals on the planet, rivalling Africa’s spectacular wildlife. As the dry season takes hold, caiman gather to breed and fish – forming the greatest concentration of reptiles on earth. Rare Giant River Otters have found refuge here and patrol the waterways in family packs. With so much food on offer, jaguars flourish - growing to be the largest in Latin America. Surviving groups of Bororo Indians join together in fishing parties, using age-old techniques to harvest the Pantanal’s riches. When the rains come the Pantanal sinks under 5m of water, and one of the world’s largest waterfalls, Foz do Iguacu, becomes a breath-taking spectacle. Humans have never tamed this wild frontier. Permanent settlement is largely impossible - the climate’s extremes keep people at bay. The result is a natural abundance, unparalleled on the continent: a wild haven at the heart of South America.
