Then finally I recycled old slag to see if it would produce any more iron. The first way was to roast the ore before smelting. This drove off the moisture and volatiles in the ore as well as burning off any sulfur present. The resulting ore produced a higher yield of iron than normal (33g iron as opposed to about 15g iron as usual for the same volume of ore, charcoal and time). Next lime was added to the smelt as a flux in the form of snail shells. The theory was that the lime would lower the melting point of any silica in the ore to make a runnier slag and help the iron come together more. The result was very bad, no iron was produced apart from 1 or 2 prills. I suspect the ore is already basic in chemistry and adding a basic flux in the form of lime made it so basic that the slag was too viscous. The ore probably won t benefit from a basic flux but might benefit from an acid flux such as sand or slag from previous smelts. Next I tried smelting slag from previous smelts to see if anymore iron would come out. It did surprisingly, less than fresh ore but still worth doing. For this reason it might be useful to add old slag as a flux to future smelts to help the slag form more easily, while contributing some more iron to the smelt. About Primitive Technology: Primitive technology is a hobby where you build things in the wild completely from scratch using no modern tools or materials. These are the strict rules: If you want a fire, use a fire stick - An axe, pick up a stone and shape it - A hut, build one from trees, mud, rocks etc. The challenge is seeing how far you can go without utilizing modern technology. At Dinokeng, there’s another surprise in store. One of the wild nomadic male lions has been fighting with an established pride. Although battle-scarred, he has survived, while his brother has been killed. With lion numbers dwindling in the wild, Kevin and the team of conservationists decide to step in. The lion is brought into one of the empty enclosures to recuperate in peace and quiet. Later, he will be radio-collared and re-released away from the established pride’s territory. Weeks away from the move, the permits are turned down. When they are eventually granted, moving the animals presents the next major challenge. Being able to understand the individual characteristics of his animals will be key to moving them safely. But a few of them are not that keen on climbing into the specially adapted van. Can the reluctant lions and hyenas be persuaded to join in on the move?

During filming of The HISTORY Channel’s “The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch,” what could be the anomaly potentially causing the strange occurrences and unexplainable phenomena on the ranch is caught on camera for the first time. After discovering new evidence of massive metallic objects buried beneath the Mesa, the team investigating Skinwalker Ranch conducts an experiment at the Triangle, a place on the Ranch where the team has detected mysterious energy spikes and witnessed numerous UAPs, that leads to one of the most shocking revelations ever seen on the series. During the third rocket launch of a conducted nighttime experiment, the rocket launches perfectly but, at about 30 feet off the launch pad, a big flash of light suddenly appears and there is an explosion. The rocket’s motor and tail section are destroyed before it lawn darts around 200 feet up in the air and starts a fire. Watching back the scene in slow motion, the team uses a high-speed camera to shoot thousands of frames per second to spot a blob-like figure materializing out of nowhere right above the rocket when it combusts. Could this be the phenomenon that causes the energy spikes previously detected and is it related to the UAPs that the team has seen? “The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch” may be getting closer to finding answers to what is truly happening on the Ranch.
