When Kate Warne first applied for a position at the Pinkerton Detective Agency, she was laughed at. Still, she persevered and soon became America’s first female detective. During her time at the agency, she uncovered a plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln during a trip from Philadelphia to Baltimore. She concocted a plan to protect the president, one involving master disguises, bribery and sleepless nights. This is definitely not an academic course, but it s going to be a more in depth and developed exploration of a single topic than a typical standalone MinutePhysics video. I ve been greatly inspired (and heckled) to do this by my friend Grant Sanderson of 3blue1brown who s set the standard for this kind of thing with his excellent series - serieses? - on calculus and linear algebra. So, special relativity. Special relativity is one of the most popularly famous ideas in physics – it s that thing that Einstein figured out about the speed of light and space and time and E=mc^2! It changed our understanding of the universe. And its core ideas are accessible in principle to anyone who understands some basic algebra and geometry - you don t even need to know calculus! And yet in spite of this, special relativity is one of the subjects in physics that confuses the most people, and in many cases turns them away from physics altogether. With the door still hung in the jamb, mark where the cut for Dutch door will be. Use that as a guide to mark for 2 additional hinges above and below the cut mark. 2. Mortise the door where the new hinges will go with a chisel. Scoring around the mark with a utility knife can help prevent the door from chipping or cracking. 3. Once the hinges can fit flush against the door, attach the hinges to the door using a drill and screws. 4. With the new hinges attached to the door, trace where the hinges will attach to the jamb. Mortise the jamb and attach the other side of the hinges the same as earlier. 5. Replace the old hinges with new ones so that all four hinges match. If the old hinges are thicker than the new ones, add a filler piece of scrap cardboard behind both hinges before installing. 6. Remove the door from the jamb. 7. Cut two pieces of scrap wood the width of the door and taper them on opposite sides. 8. Cut the door in half with the track saw to fit the tapered filler pieces. 9. Attach one filler piece to the bottom of the top half of the door using wood glue and screws. 10. Rehang the top half of the door, then the bottom. With the door in place, attach the second filler piece to the top of the bottom half of the door and adjust as necessary with a palm sander. 11. Install a barrel latch to the top and bottom halves of the door to lock the top half of the door. Ask This Old House plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey shows host Kevin O’Connor the proper way to ventilate a sink. SUBSCRIBE to This Old House: http://bit.ly/SubscribeThisOldHouse Cost: $20 and Up Skill Level: Moderate Tools List for Diagnosing a Gurgling Sink: Pipe wrench Shopping List: PVC pipes Steps: 1. If a sink is gurgling after the toilet flushes, there’s probably a good chance the drain is not ventilated properly. 2. Replace whatever pipe fitting is at the drain past the P trap with a T fitting. Run pipe from the bottom of the T to the main drain line and then run pipe from the top of the T to the vent system of the house. This may require running a pipe to the roof if there isn’t a vent system. 3. In some areas, code may permit a retrofitted mechanical vent that can be placed on a pipe on top of the T instead of running it to the roof or vent system. Resources: Richard demonstrated a PVC P-trap with a mechanical vent that can be used where conventional venting is not an option. Yeah. And this place is called I m actually just going to read the napkin. So Jadran Kod Krsta. Yep. Not entirely sure what that means. And guys it is just warm enough for us to be outside. Just barely. Barely it is probably about 14 degrees.Yeah. If it was a couple of degrees cooler we d be inside with everyone else. Although everyone else is inside. Yeah. It looks really nice inside actually. They have all of these ferry lights and it looks very like rustic and cozy. We ve got a kitty friend. And the meat and fish hasn t arrived yet kitty so you ll have to stick around if you want some of the good stuff. We ve only got salad right now. Okay, so we are going to start things off with a salad. We were actually going to order the Greek one and he s like no no no. Go for the seasonal one. It is half price and it is the same ingredients practically. Haha. Um so thanks for the tip waiter. Thanks. He s a very friendly fellow. Yeah, so this one has cucumber, it has tomatoes and cheese. Cheese is the main ingredient here. Yeah, we really mixed that around. The cheese was actually layered on top. Mmmmm. That is so cheesy. Okay guys food is here. The fries are looking a little meager because I already ate half the portion. Haha. There was a lot more when we started. Wow. But yeah, Sam took a long time filming as usual. Yeah. So I ordered myself a kebab. Mmhmm. With fries. And it also comes with onions and a spicy sauce. You sure did. It is hot. So we kind of got the best of the meat and the sea because over here I ve got a plate of fried calamari. Yeah. So yeah. Let s try yours first though. Let s try the meat. It looks really good. Let s see. Oh, that does look good. Mmm. It is quite juicy. Is it? That is really nice. Oh my gosh guys. This looks so good. Fried calamari and wow. And wow. With a side of wow. It is just I grew up in Canada on the west coast so I grew up eating a lot of fish and seafood and the rest of my relatives on my Mom s side were on Atlantic Canada on the East Coast so I grew up like just eating seafood on boths sides of Canada and it just feels comfortable for me and very familiar to be eating this. This is your comfort food. This is my comfort food. So I m getting a nice big piece here to try. And we had the option of ordering the Calamari grilled, fried or stuffed. Oh my gosh. I went for fried and it is battered obviously. Um, this is my happy place. Like that kebab is really good but this is just for me. For my personal like my personal taste. This just like hits the spot in so many ways. This is part of our Travel in Montenegro video series showcasing Montenegrin food, Montenegrin culture and Montenegrin cuisine. This stunning tiny house is designed to be on the move and will be traveling all over North America! Our visit to the USA has been incredible. We have formed incredible friendships and made memories that will last a life-time. North America feels like a second home to us and so to help us travel more in the future, together with the team from Tiny House Chattanooga (http://www.tinyhousechattanooga.com) we have built a Tiny House on wheels!!! The home was constructed on a trailer from Tiny House Foundations (http://www.tinyhousefoundations.com). The trailer is the foundation of your home, so especially with a traveling tiny house like this one choosing a high quality trailer was incredibly important. Welcome to one of the coolest homes I ve ever stayed in. We first came across this place on Airbnb, and couldn t believe something so amazing was so close to Mexico City. It is a series of 10 apartments build into the back of a giant serpent. It s the coolest house I ve ever seen, if you don t mind living in a snake god. It was created by Javier Senosiain, a Mexican architect specializing in Organic Architecture. This philosophy of construction blends seamlessly with nature, so they both work together in harmony. This location is called El Nido de Quetzalcoatl (The Nest of Quetzalcoatl) because of the giant snake head that is the centre piece of the location. When Javier first decided to build the park, he came across a giant cave whose opening resembled the gaping mouth of a snake. This inspired him to continue the theme, and great a giant 18 hectare park, with 13 snakes twisting through it. Despite everything he has created here, the valley in which everything is hidden, is vastly untouched. His constructions are guided using the natural shape of the land.
