Ask This Old House general contractor Tom Silva helps a homeowner trim a window to match the rest of the house. SUBSCRIBE to This Old House: http://bit.ly/SubscribeThisOldHouse Time: 3-4 hours Cost: $100 Skill Level: Moderate Tools List for Installing Window Trim: Prybar Hammer Table Saw Miter Saw Compass Hand Plane Sandpaper Speed Square Nail Gun Shopping List: Window Stool Molding Extension Jamb Molding Window Casing Window Apron Molding Shims Wood Glue Minimally expanding foam insulation Steps: 1. Remove any existing casing, stool, or apron molding. 2. Use the table saw and miter saw to cut a piece of stool molding to fit between the windows. Leave the ends long. 3. To determine the finished length of the stool, hold the extension jamb and casing in place, leaving a _” reveal between them. Then set the distance from the face of the casing to the face of the stool and transfer that measurement from the side of the casing to the stool. 4. Ease the edges of the stool with a block plane and sandpaper. 5. Use shims to make the stool square to the window. 6. Use the nail gun to nail the stool in place. 7. Rip the extension jamb pieces to the correct width, then cut them to length. 8. Cut the casing to length, mitering the corners at 45 degrees. 9. Make a mark _” from the edge of the extension jamb where the casing will sit. 10. Assemble the extension jambs and window casings as a single unit on a workbench or sawhorses using screws, wood glue, and nails. 11. Dry fit the trim assembly in the window opening. Shims may need to be added or the plaster may need to be taken down slightly. 12. Use minimally expanding foam in any joints around the window and around the extension jambs. 13. Nail the trim assembly in place. 14. Attach the window stool to the casing with a screw. 15. Cut the apron to the correct length, which is the distance from the outside of the casing to the outside of the casing. 16. Glue and nail the apron in place. Resources: Tom installed 3_" Colonial casings and used stock lumber for the remaining pieces. All of the wood and tools used can be found at a home center. Special assistance with this project was provided by Cleveland Lumber Co (https://www.clevelandlumber.com/). We cover activities you won t find in a typical Santorini tourism brochure, Santorini itinerary or Santorini, Greece city tour also known as Σαντορίνη / Θήρα. 15 Things to do on Santorini, Greece Travel Guide Video Transcript: (Σαντορίνη / Θήρα Ελλάδα): We got our first glimpse of Santorini aboard the ferry and it was immediately apparent why this place has been linked to the Lost City of Atlantis. What was once a single island, was destroyed by a massive volcanic eruption, and all that remains today is the caldera rising out of the Aegean Sea. The first thing that caught our attention were the soaring red cliffs, and atop these, a collection of villages, all painted white. We imagined we’d spend our week in Santorini just lounging around, but the island lured us out to hike its trails, get lost in its towns, and look back at its history. So with that in mind, in this travel guide we’re going to share with you a few things to do in Santorini on your visit! The hike from Fira to Oia turned out to be our favourite activity on the island, but we’ll warn you, it took us closer to 5 hours, so go prepared with lots of sunscreen, plenty of water, and a few snacks to sustain you along the way. Of course, no trip to Santorini would be complete without spending a bit of time in Oia. Situated on the northern tip of the island and built on the slope of the caldera, this is probably the most picturesque town on the island, and a very popular spot right around sunset. We had a leisurely ride out to the island and once we docked, we paid an additional 2 Euros and 50 cents per person for admission to Nea Kameni Volcanic Park. From there we hiked along a gravel path until we reached the top of the crater, where we did a full circuit around the rim. There were a few spots where we could even see active sulphur vents. And that’s a wrap for our time in Santorini! We came here thinking we’d do a whole lot of relaxing and not much else, but as it turns out, this is a great island for an active holiday. Our week in Santorini was spent village hopping, hiking the trails, learning about the island’s history, and feasting on Greek food. It was the perfect way to end our travels in Greece, and also wrap up our Eurotrip. Wishing you happy travels, and we’ll see you in the next video! Check out all the places seen in this video: https://www.touropia.com/best-places-to-visit-in-romania/ Located on the Balkan Peninsula, Romania is a country of contrasts. The former Soviet Bloc country has, over the years, belonged to the Romans who gave the country its name, the Hungarians and the Ottomans. It is filled with quaint old towns, mountain resorts that offer great skiing, and a burgeoning art community. It’s most famous citizen, however, may be the vampire Dracula, a fictional character found in Transylvania. Here’s a look at the best places to visit in Romania:

This Filipino street food is one of the strangest and most exotic you can find in the country. As a foreigner in the Philippines I was shocked this soup even existed. I teamed up with Kyle Jennermann (Kulas) of Becoming Filipino to create a Philippines travel vlog about this bull penis and testicle dish in Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao. I had first heard of this Pinoy delicacy in while researching Manila street food. Soup number 5, RM Soup, Remember Me are all names for this dish. It is often eaten as a hangover food and aphrodisiac (why do weird foods always increase your sex drive?) It turns out it a bit hard to find. I know the Best Ever Food Review Show had some false leads in Manila, but Kulas had a great place, called RM Station in Cagayan de Oro. We got lucky, they have full penis and testicles that had not been cut up into soup. I never thought I would have to type that sentence. Have you guys checked out the Fighterboys series yet? Learn more here: https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/phyto.html Primary Production: the synthesis of organic chemicals from carbon dioxide (mostly happens through photosynthesis) Upwelling: the motion of cooler, usually nutrient-rich, water towards the ocean surface ___________________________________________ Subscribe to MinuteEarth on YouTube: http://goo.gl/EpIDGd Support us on Patreon: https://goo.gl/ZVgLQZ And visit our website: https://www.minuteearth.com/ Say hello on Facebook: http://goo.gl/FpAvo6 And Twitter: http://goo.gl/Y1aWVC And download our videos on itunes: https://goo.gl/sfwS6n ___________________________________________ Credits (and Twitter handles): Script Writer: Alex Reich (@alexhreich) Script Editor: Kate Yoshida (@KateYoshida) Video Illustrator: Arcadi Garcia Video Director: Alex Reich & Emily Elert Video Narrator: Emily Elert (@eelert) With Contributions From: Henry Reich, Ever Salazar, Peter Reich, David Goldenberg Music by: Nathaniel Schroeder: http://www.soundcloud.com/drschroeder ___________________________________________ References: Ainley, David.
