Antigua Travel Guide | Visiting During Antigua Sailing Week Video Transcript: In today’s video, we’re taking you to a little island in the Caribbean: Antigua! It had been a few years since we last travelled to the Caribbean, so to say we were excited was an understatement! AND because our visit also happened to coincide with Antigua Sailing Week, there was quite literally even more reason to celebrate. So in this video we’re going to show you some fun things to do in Antigua and taking you along to some of Sailing Week related activities. Antigua Sailing Week started back in 1968 when a group of friends decided to hold a regatta. Because quite a few in the group worked in the tourism industry, the objective of the regatta was to extend the winter season by getting people to stay on the island just a little bit longer. And well, today it’s become one of the biggest events of the year! And because the Sailing Week celebrations were happening, we also got to enjoy Reggae in the Park featuring international artists. It’s no secret that we love to eat, so we were very excited to learn how to prepare a few Caribbean dishes - all of them featuring rum. And in between all the cooking, there was also time for a rum tasting, which was a pleasant surprise! The meal turned out wonderful and we really enjoyed getting to share it with other travellers. We had seconds, thirds, and then it was time for a mouthwatering cake! And last but least, we made some time to visit the capital of Antigua: St John’s. Initially, our plan had been to try and find some Caribbean food in town, but everyone kept suggesting Big Banana, so that’s where we ended up. And that’s a wrap for Antigua! We hope you guys enjoyed exploring this Caribbean island with us, and be sure to let us know what island you’d like to see us explore next! Wishing you happy travels and see you in the next video. This is part of our Travel in Antigua and Barbuda video series showcasing Antigua food, Antigua culture and Antigua cuisine. We have Nadine joining us from the channel Hey Nadine and if you ve been watching travel content on YouTube you ve probably seen her stuff because she has been making videos for a long time. She is our travel expert today. We ve both been traveling for many years and that means we ve made several mistakes along the way some of them sillier than others. So today we thought we would share 10 common mistakes that first time travelers make and how you can avoid them. So first tip before you head out is to contact your bank and let them know your bank and your credit card because it could get blocked otherwise. Another mistake I would say is booking parts of your trip in the wrong order. Packing proper footwear and packing for multiple seasons and seasonally. I ve made this mistake several times & I don t seem to learn. But often times I forget to look up how to get from the airport to my hotel. Tipping. I another big rookie mistake when I m in a country and I m sitting down at a restaurants I didn t look up the tipping etiquette of that country because it varies widely per country. Another tip for me would be to always grab your hotels business card before you walk out of the door because if you re a little distracted like I am you may start wandering around and not know how to get back. Unrealistic expectations of your physical fitness.I think another mistake a lot of first time travelers make is underestimating distances between two places. Small change. Small change especially in like a cash based place is always so important to have on you and the problem is that most ATMs give you the biggest bills. Okay I think another common mistake is only doing what your guidebook says. Buying souvenirs on day 1 and carrying them around with you. I think another very common travel mistake is planning an itinerary that is just way too busy. Laundry. So if you re going for a trip longer than a week chances are you re going to be doing laundry. And last but not least I feel like we should mention travel insurance because if you can afford to book a trip you can afford travel insurance. I hope you enjoyed those travel tips for first time travelers so you don t make the same mistakes we made. So thank you Nadine for coming over to our channel and sharing travel advice with us. Go check out her channel. She has some really cool travel videos and lots of very informational travel tips. 64 Sundays by Twin Musicom is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Artist: http://www.twinmusicom.org/

Episode 9 - Experiencing the sacred death ceremony in Varanasi in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. We take the boat out of the Holy Ganges river to reflect on our journey. We tried to book into a better class of train for the overnight sleeper (we even thought about booking first class ) But alas things went wrong so the journey was another slog. BUT... once we arrived we could instantly tell we were in a very holy and important place within the culture and religion of India. As unkowning westerners we witnessed the Ganga Aarti Ceremony The burning of the bodies next to the river. Which left us speechless and taught us so much about life and death. We hope you enjoy this video, use it as a travel guide to Varanasi if you are coming here as this video has tons of awesome insights and places to see and do.
