Measure out each ingredient in the following proportion: 3 parts sand, 2 parts aggregate, 1 part Portland cement. Use a bucket to help keep the measurements accurate. 2. Pour the sand, aggregate, and Portland cement into a mixing bucket. To make the mix stronger, add more aggregate and Portland cement. 3. Add water slowly to the bucket and begin to mix it up with the trowel. Add more water as needed until the concrete is at the correct consistency. Come join us for another Japanese food review video in Osaka, Japan where this time we are trying Ramen noodles in Osaka, Japan in a famous neighbourhood called Dōtonbori. For those who have never tried Japanese Ramen, they are wheat noodles served in a meat and/or fish broth flavored with both soy sauce and miso with typical toppings added including dried seaweed, green onions, sliced pork and gyoza dumplings. Each prefecture in Japan has its own variation and so if you re traveling around Japan you can try a different style of ramen wherever you go. For this particular food video we were still fighting jeg lag so we ended up having ramen for breakfast. It is the type of meal you can eat anytime of day as many shops are 24 hours in busy parts of Osaka. Good morning. Second full day here in Osaka (大阪). We are still super jet lagged. We woke up at 1 am in the morning. It is now quarter to 5 am. I know it feels like it is later on in the day. It is hilarious that it is only five in the morning. In fact the metro is just opening up now. We are heading out. We found a ramen shop that is open 24 hours a day. And we figured this is perfect. We are jet lagged, we need food, let s go eat some ramen noodles (ラーメン). We have made it to Dōtonbori (道頓堀) and the place we wanted to go to is packed. It is super tiny and it is kind of like a bar style restaurant where you just sit. You sit at the bar and you slurp on your noodles but there is no space so we walked around found another place where we actually have to order from a machine. Yes. Interesting. And that should be fun. That is what we re going to do. We re just reading the menu that is outside and then we ll place our order. I m getting number 6 the Ramen with soft-boiled seasoned egg and Sam is going for number 11 the meat filled wonton dumplings Ramen (ラーメン). We have our receipts. Sam is going to give us a quick history of Ramen. Yes. Courtesy of wikipedia. Ramen is a Japanese dish it consists of Chinese style wheat noodles served in a meat or occasionally fish based broth. Often flavoured with soy sauce or miso. And uses toppings such as sliced pork, dried seaweed and green onions. Nearly every region in Japan has its own variation of ramen from the tonkatsu pork one to bone broth ramen of Kyushu to the miso ramen of Hokkaido. Alright and so ramen (ラーメン) is the specialty of Japan and we can t wait to try ours. That was a great meal. The price of the meal um in terms of the ramen was 1740 Yen which is just under 16 US dollars. Basically 8 per person. I thought that was excellent value. Like the sizes were huge. Like this is one of the biggest breakfasts I ve had in a very very long time. The ingredients were fresh and it was just a cool eating environment. There were a lot of other people in there slurping surprisingly this early in the morning. If you are in Osaka (大阪) or really anywhere in Japan to be honest definitely make sure to have a few bowls of ramen (ラーメン). Ramen. Ciao for now. Join us as try eating traditional Japanese Breakfast in Osaka, Japan at a 24 hour restaurant we found near the apartment we were staying at in Osaka, Japan. Given our struggles with jet lag we had already been up for several hours when we ventured off to grab some breakfast in Osaka. It was so early the metro stations had not even opened and we had more of a hangover crowd rather than businessmen and women heading off to work. We noticed this little 24 hour restaurant nearby Nagahoribashi Station, next door to Yoshinoya. Sorry, we forget the name of this place and it isn t on Google maps but if you find the Yoshinoya just outside of this station you ll see the restaurant just to the right of it. In terms of the traditional Japanese breakfast we ended up eating a lot of standard items such as rice, fish, tofu, miso soup, ginger, Nattō, tea and other things. It felt like a very healthy way to start the day with decent amount of protein, functional carbs and nothing to sugary. In fact it was more of a salty and savoury breakfast which we enjoyed because we didn t have a sugar crash afterwards. Have you had breakfast in Japan before? What did you try? It is another early start for this jet lagged duo. It is right now it is 4:52 in the morning and we ve already been up for what an hour and a half? Since 2:30. We figured since we are up early let s go have some breakfast but not any breakfast. This is going to be a traditional Japanese breakfast. We noticed a place when we were up jet lagged the previous morning it was open 24 hours. It is a chain restaurant and we re going to go there and grab some traditional Japanese breakfast. Let s go eat. We just finished placing our order. We got a little ticket from the machine. And then we handed it the ticket to the server. She ripped it in half. We get to keep this. Breakfast is here. For Japanese breakfast we did a little bit of research. To see what the typical dishes are. And it usually includes steamed rice. Miso soup. A protein like grilled fish. We ve got some tofu going on. We ve got a raw egg. This looks like some kind of porridge. Um it says nori. So a dry seasoned seaweed. I m seeing a little bit of that sprinkled on this thing. There are some additional side dishes we might order too. I mean you can always go to the machine and order some individual little dishes. Yeah. If you want more rice or if you want more egg. It also says Nattō fermented soy beans. And I did notice that on the menu. We just didn t get the meal that comes with the soy beans. I ll probably I ll see if I can order that later. Fermented soy beans? I think we got the main items of a Japanese breakfast. In total came to 490 and 590 Yen. Yeah. Which in total was $9.80 USD. Incredible value. It was a complete breakfast. I really liked having protein and some healthy carbs with the rice and just there is a lot of variety and it was thoughtfully prepared too. This is Episode 3 of Discovering Basilan Mindanao Philippines with Becoming Filipino. In this Philippines travel vlog we experience Filipino hospitality at its finest. Starting off our day, we visit Lamitan City, home of the weavers, here we are given beautiful headbands as a gify from the village elder, and I try my hardest to crack a coconut. After we grab a lunch and I somehow find myself trying Betel Nut again, (Called Apo here), and we explore a columnar basalt waterfall called Bulingan Falls... and I can tell you, it s one of the best waterfalls in the Philippines. While visiting this island might not be at the top of Foreigner tourist list of the top things to do in the Philippines, we hope that soon people will begin to return to this beautiful island. A bit more backstory on Basilan, and this series. This small island has had a lot of trouble in the past. Muslim extremist groups have damaged its people and its reputation. As a foreigner in the Philippines, everyone told me to stay away from the south. Mindanao was "dangerous" and "no one should go", is what I was told by both filipinos and foreign travelers. After the Mindanao roadtrip with the Fighterboys, I would have to disagree. Love and generosity is what we experienced, an appreciation from the people that I have rarely felt while travelling the world. We met the governor of ARMM, our local contact (always have a local contact) and spent 4 days here.
