Last time we did a border crossing by car with Charlie, it was very… interesting ;) So we were hoping this one went a little smoother. Unfortunately (or maybe not), we had some trouble! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Ask This Old House mason Mark McCullough installs a front walkway for a homeowner using natural stone. SUBSCRIBE to This Old House: http://bit.ly/SubscribeThisOldHouse Time: 5-6 hours Cost: $2000 Skill Level: Moderate to Expert Tools: Safety glasses Hearing protection Shovel Pickaxe Wheelbarrow Compactor Trowel Rubber mallet Level Masonry hammer Shopping List: Natural stone steppers Spray paint Stone pack material (crushed stone and stone dust) Stone dust Plastic edging Steps: 1. Before doing any project that requires digging, always contact your utility locating service to identify the location of water lines, gas lines, etc. 2. Use spray paint or some other type of marker to determine where the path will go to help make digging easier. 3. Use a pick axe to loosen the soil in between the lines of the new walkway. Then, use a shovel to dig out the path. Depending on the thickness of the stone, plan to dig down about 6-8”. For easy removal, dump the soil into a wheelbarrow. 4. Use a compactor to get the base as solid as possible. These can be rented at most home centers. A hand tamper would also work, but multiple steps in this process will require compacting, so it’s worth it to rent the compactor. Use hearing protection while running the compactor. 5. Once the walkway is packed down, add two inches or so of stone pack and compact that as well. 6. Add a couple more inches of stone pack on top of that and compact it. 7. Mix up the stone dust in the wheelbarrow with water. 8. Scoop the stone dust mixture onto the walkway in small sections at a time. Smooth it out with a trowel. 9. Place the stepping stones in a logical order on top of the stone dust. Wiggle the stones as low as possible to ensure the stone dust fills in the gaps underneath the stone as well. A rubber mallet and a level should be used to make sure the stones are placed evenly. 10. Continue this process all the way across the walkway. If a stone feels like a close fit but isn’t quite right, try cutting it with the back end of a masonry hammer. 11. Secure plastic edging around both sides of the walkway. They come with stakes that can be hammered easily into the ground. Resources: Because natural stone is a naturally-occurring substance, it will not always be possible to match other natural stone in a landscape. Mark suggests identifying the nearest stone and masonry yards first to see if they have what you’re looking for. The natural stone stepper Mark used is called a “New York Paver”, which he got from Cavicchio Greenhouses (http://www.cavicchio.com/ ). The plastic edging is Vigoro No-Dig Landscape Edging Kit, and is found at most home centers. The compacter Mark used can be rented from most home centers. The other materials Mark used for this job, including the mallet and edging can also be found at the home center. Welcome to Cotabato City Mindanao Philippines! In this filipino travel vlog, we leave the island of Basilan to investigate the 5 cultural villages set up in Cotabato City. Here, you can see many example of Filipino Culture. Specifically the regions of ARMM the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao; Basilan, Sulu, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, and Tawi-Tawi We found some strange Filipino food, A tuntungan instrument, kris blades, and some awesome people to party with. As a foreigner in the Philippines, it was a very warm welcome ❤️ A bit more backstory on Basilan, and this series. This small island has had a lot of trouble in the past. Muslim extremist groups have damaged its people and its reputation. As a foreigner in the Philippines, everyone told me to stay away from the south. Mindanao was "dangerous" and "no one should go", is what I was told by both filipinos and foreign travelers. After the Mindanao roadtrip with the Fighterboys, I would have to disagree. Love and generosity is what we experienced, an appreciation from the people that I have rarely felt while travelling the world. We met the governor of ARMM, our local contact (always have a local contact) and spent 4 days here. While I wouldn t recommend travelling here on your first day in the Philippines, This is Day 3 of exploring Basilan Mindanao Philippines. #FearlessandFar #Basilan #Mindanao I post wild stories and travel tips here: https://www.patreon.com/fearlessandfar ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ♥ Friends ♥ Find Kulas here: https://www.youtube.com/user/Jennermann ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ♫ Music ♫ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ☎ Say Hi Here ☎ ✧ Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/fearlessandfar ✧ Tweetz: http://www.twitter.com/fearlessandfar ✧ Facebook Fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/fearlessandfar ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ✯ Experiences over Possessions ✯ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ϟ LINKS TO GEAR HERE ϟ Cameras Sony a7s Cameras: http://geni.us/MyCamera Sony RX100 V: http://geni.us/SonyRX1005 GoPro Hero 5: http://geni.us/GPHero5 My Flying Camera: http://geni.us/MavicFlyMore Lenses Sony 16-35mm f/4 : http://geni.us/Sony1635mm Sony 90mm f/2.8 http://geni.us/Sony90mm Sony 55mm f/1.8: http://geni.us/Sony55mm Rokinon 24mm f/1.4: http://geni.us/Rokinon24mm Canon 70-300mm: http://geni.us/CanonZoomLens Phone Fisheye + Macro Lenses: https://pixter.fr/#IN42 Camera Accessories CPOL for Sony 16-35mm: http://geni.us/TiffenCPOL1 Variable ND for Sony 16-35mm: http://geni.us/TiffenVarND RODE Videomic Pro: http://geni.us/RODEMic RODE Dead Cat: http://geni.us/DeadCatVMP My SD Cards: http://geni.us/SanDiskPRO Zhinyu Crane Gimbal: http://geni.us/NewGimbal PEAK Camera Clips: http://geni.us/PDClip PEAK Lens Switching: http://geni.us/PDLensKit PEAK Camera Strap: http://geni.us/PDStrap PEAK Keeping Safe on Rainy Days: http://geni.us/PDRainShell 3 Legged Thing Tripod: http://geni.us/Tripod Get a discount from PEAK DESIGN with my link: https://www.peakdesign.com?acc=721 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ♥ Friends ♥ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ♫ Music ♫ (http://www.epidemicsound.com) “Funky Gringo" - Funky Fella https://soundcloud.com/funky_fella OGROD https://soundcloud.com/maciejkulesza ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ☎ Say Hi Here ☎ ✧ Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/fearlessandfar ✧ Tweetz: http://www.twitter.com/fearlessandfar ✧ Facebook Fanpage: http://www.facebook.com/fearlessandfar ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ✯ Experiences over Possessions ✯

Come join us for this Nara Travel Guide as we visit on a day trip from Osaka where we meet and feed bowing deer, eat plenty of Japanese street food and visit numerous pristine gardens and temples. Nara is just a short train ride away from both Osaka and Kyoto and makes for a perfect day trip as you can sightsee and eat your way the main attractions. One of the highlights for us was meeting the bowing deer of Nara park where you have the opportunity to feed them deer crackers. If you bow before feeding the deer the crackers they will bow in return with a cracker as a reward. Some of the temples and gardens we visited in Nara were simply incredible. It is postcard perfect Japan in many ways. The following is a list of the attractions we visited in Nara, Japan along with all of the unique Japanese street we ate in Nara: Things to do in Nara, Japan Travel Guide + Nara Street Food: 1) Train from Nipponbashi in Osaka on the Kintetsu line to Nara for 560 Yen per person 2) Feeding the bowing deer of Nara deer crackers (Shika Senbei - 鹿せんべい) at Nara Park 3) Eating deer poop snack (chocolate covered nuts) 4) Tōdai-ji (東大寺) wooden temple and bronze buddha statue for 600 Yen 5) Green tea and Sakura Japanese ice cream 6) Yoshiki-en Garden (吉城園) for free 7) Watching a mochi (もち) demonstration and then eating some for 130 Yen each 8) Eating Takoyaki (たこ焼き) octopus balls for 130 Yen each 9) Eating salmon and mackerel sushi for 1300 Yen 10) Trying Nara Dorayaki (どら焼き) red bean pancakes for 118 Yen 大阪からの日帰り旅行に日本を訪れたのは、日本を旅したときの最高の体験のひとつでした。 私たちは、奈良公園の弓鹿に食べさせ、日本の奈良でしか見られない独特の日本の通りの食べ物を食べながら、元の寺院や庭園を訪れていました。 GEAR WE USE Panasonic GH5: http://amzn.to/2yqTUyi Canon G7X ii: http://amzn.to/2yqtM6B Rode Video Micro: http://amzn.to/2wTguTM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/25KEErs SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: http://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: http://nomadicsamuel.com/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ Nara Travel Guide | Bowing Deer + Japanese Street Food Tour Video Transcript: Today we are going on a day trip. We are leaving Osaka behind and going to Nara (奈良市). The plan is to take a short little train ride. Upon arrival we re going to be visiting some really cool deer. They are very friendly and they bow. And there is also some really neat street food, some cool architecture and parks so we re going to be checking it all out in this Nara Travel Guide. Travel update. So we made it to Nipponbashi and we found the Kintetsu line so our tickets to Nara are 560 Yen per person. That is one way and they ve told us platform 1 will take us straight to Nara (奈良市). We ve been in Nara maybe a grand total of five minutes. I can already tell you I love this place. Mostly because of the bowing deer. Apparently the deer crackers are called Shika Senbei (鹿せんべい). Deer crackers especially made for deer. Next is Tōdai-ji (東大寺) which is a wooden temple and at one point this was the largest wooden structure in the whole world. It houses a huge statue of a bronze Buddha for 600 Yen. This is a fun little snack we found. Deer poop. They sell deer poop. We are enjoying our ice creams sakura and green tea. We are currently at the Yoshiki-en Garden (吉城園). The mochi men they were just like pounding and chanting with a crowd gathered around. Mochi (もち) is sticky glutinous rice. Stuffed with a red bean paste. We are having Takoyaki (たこ焼き). These are octopus balls with little bonito flakes with sauce. When we arrived in Nara we walked passed this shop that had these beautiful boxed sets with sushi wrapped in a persimmon leaf. Sam is trying the Nara Dorayaki (どら焼き) which is basically a red bean pancake. That is our day in Nara (奈良市). It was just like a nice combination of nature and deer and temples and great street food. It was just such an awesome trip. If you re staying in Osaka or Kyoto and you re looking for a really cool day trip consider Nara (奈良市) and we hope you guys enjoyed our Nara Travel Guide. This is part of our Travel in Japan video series showcasing Japanese food, Japanese culture and Japanese cuisine. Music by Artlist: https://artlist.io/Audrey-184699

Highlights include teaching our friend Charlie how to eat khinkali & visiting a local market where a Georgian lady took us under her wing and let us try everything at her stall (including homemade Cha Cha). The rest of the day didn’t go as planned, but we tried to make up for it by showing you our traditional Georgian sulfur bath experience ;) ALL of our music used in the vlog is from Epidemic Sound: http://share.epidemicsound.com/karaandnate -Sign up for a 30-day free trial! :)
