Join us for a Japanese supermarket tour in Nikko as we showcase all of the different food items you can buy when you re shopping for groceries in Japan. One of the best budget travel tips for those visiting Japan is to regularly eat breakfast, lunch and dinner from either a supermarket or convenience store. If you visit later on in the evening or even late afternoon certain items will be discounted at 20, 30 or even 40% off the original price. This is especially true for items like sushi and tempura. We noticed in the fruit and vegetable section that certain items can be really pricey including items such as apples and watermelons and oranges out of season. However, bananas are cheap as are many other vegetables such as carrots and leafy greens. The best bargains for Japanese food items in a grocery store in Japan are definitely the prepacked meals including items such as sushi, tempura, sashimi and takoyaki to name just a few. Certain Japanese snacks such as shrimp crackers are also delicious as well if you re craving something salty. In terms of beverages Japanese Sake and beer are most common but these days they also have a big foreign wine section where you can buy red wine from Chile as an example. Overall, touring a Japanese supermarket is fascinating and one of our fondest memories in Japan was just going a few times a week to get groceries. Have you been to a Japanese supermarket before? What were some of the best bargains you fond and what did you find expensive? Let us know in the comments below. * * * * * * * * * * GEAR WE USE Panasonic GH5: http://amzn.to/2yqTUyi Canon G7X ii: http://amzn.to/2yqtM6B Rode Video Micro: http://amzn.to/2wTguTM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/25KEErs * * * * * * * * * * SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: http://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: http://nomadicsamuel.com/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ * * * * * * * * * * Japanese Supermarket Tour with Food Prices! Buying Groceries in Japan: If there is something you need to know about Sam it is that he loves supermarkets wherever he goes. I love supermarkets. Anytime we re visiting a new country or even a new city for that matter I have to go in and check out the supermarket. And not just to get the essentials. I need to go through every aisle. Now that we re in Nikko, Japan take a look at this. There is a mountain behind the supermarket. We re going to be going inside and showing you guys what a Japanese supermarket is like. This is our first supermarket tour in Japan so let s go check it out. Supermarket tour. He s got his little basket. Grocery shopping mission accomplished. Yep. So price point was 2,515 Yen which was just under $23 US dollars. I think that is an absolute steal. Look at all of the stuff. Two bags full of food. It includes wine it includes food it includes fruit. Vegetables. Snacks. So yeah that is going to be more than just one meal obviously. Yes. The wine should last us a couple of nights. Here is the supermarket with the mountains. I think we re going to go back and eat this and maybe go for a walk later. Anyways hope you guys enjoyed this Japanese supermarket tour. Please let us know you thought was the most interesting part if you ve tried any of these items or you would like to try some of these items. Bye for now. Come join us as we take a train ride from Tokyo to Nikko along with giving you our first impressions of Nikko, Japan. After spending a month in Tokyo we were more than ready to switch from big city living in Japan to a more rural setting. Having heard a lot about Nikko we were stoked to finally get an opportunity to visit. We ended up getting Nikko passes with a small upgrade for a direct train to Nikko. This meant we didn t have to transfer trains. For lunch we tried our first Bento box in Japan which is also considered classic Japanese train food. Upon arriving we give you a small Nikko hotel room tour along with a quick wander around town showing you residential areas, rivers, mountains and a Japanese cemetery. Overall, our first impressions of Nikko, Japan are favorable and we can t wait to explore more in the next episode. Yeah. Just outside Asakusa Train Station (xxx). It is a travel day. It sure is. It is an early start. We checked out of capsule hotel today yeah in Shin Okubo and we are traveling up to Nikko. We are going to be spending four days enjoying a bit of nature. Yes. Rivers. Streams. Escaping the big city of Tokyo. we re going to be in the region for that long and basically that includes transportation from Tokyo to Nikko and well transportation on the slowest of the trains which we ve already missed but it is a good thing because you have to like transfer a whole bunch of times. Yeah, something like three times. Yeah, two or three times. So we had to pay a little upgrade but it doesn t matter because the pass gives us access to a whole bunch of activities once we get to Nikko. Like they have boat cruises on the Lake. Yeah. And like cable ways or rope ways. We ll be showing you guys all of the that in a future video. Let me tell you the price for the pass. So it was 4,520 Yen. Yeah. Per person. So about $40 US dollars. That is a pretty good deal especially if we utilize. I think if we utilize it well. And I think we will. We will. I really want to cover Nikko well. Yeah. We are going there to do stuff. That is so true and we actually haven t had a Bento Box since we ve been in Japan for about a month and a half now. And pumped to have our first one. They had a few different ones to choose from. This looks like beef. I m getting a beef one. I think it has egg and I think it might have rice. So let s give it a try. We made it. That was a really great journey. So scenic. It was so scenic we both fell asleep. Yes. You know what the coolest thing for me was? Like I feel asleep as it was starting to get rural just outside of Tokyo. Uh huh. But then when I woke up like I looked out and there was like these lush green rice paddies. Yeah. And then it turned into forest. Yes. Just before we got to Nikko. Well we had a little nap, a little bite. How are we feeling? We sure did. We re going for a walk. It has finally cooled down enough that it is pleasant being outside. Yeah. And there is like a trail up the mountain. Is that like a cemetery? Seriously. That looks really neat. Let s go. Let s go. Our hunch has been confirmed. It is a cemetery. It is. Right by the river. Right by the river. At the foot of the mountains. Next to a forest. Alright guys. So we are going to wrap up this video. It has been a long day. It has but it has been a very fun day. And just having that walk tonight going for a walk for an hour has really set the tone the excitement levels for tomorrow. Sam is super pumped for Nikko. I m so pumped to be here. It is so scenic here. And this town is so chill. Things have basically shutdown by 6:30 or 7 PM. Yes. The town is barely functioning just a few businesses open and it was just cool to walk around. We waked through residential areas, we walked along the river and yeah I can t wait to properly explore Nikko tomorrow. Bye. This is part of our Travel in Japan video series showcasing Japanese food, Japanese culture and Japanese cuisine. Music We Use: http://bit.ly/SamAudreyMusic

If you’ve been feeling tired or fatigued lately and don’t know why, it might be hormone-related. Perhaps it’s time to give your brain a reboot! With the thumb and index finger of your other hand, squeeze the tip of the aforementioned thumb over and over again. - Now try the same squeezing motion on the sides of the same thumb (on either side of the nail). Hold this squeeze for 30–60 seconds without letting go. - Instead of turning to meds or recreational drugs, you can make your brain tell your body to have feelings of euphoria and happiness thanks to reflexology! - Quickly rub the nails together to stimulate them. After doing that for a few seconds, push them together firmly for 20 seconds. After that, you should start to feel a bit of pressure behind your eyes as well as a relaxed sense of euphoria. - Hormones tell your body how to function; without them, your body wouldn’t know what to do! They tell certain organs how to work, they dictate how things like your hair should grow, and much, much more. Impressive! - If your thyroid gland doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to, you can feel fatigued, lethargic, and can gain weight. - On both hands, the pointer finger, middle finger, ring finger, and pinkie are all connected to the brain, head, and sinuses. The lower halves of the ring and pinkie fingers are pressure points for your ears; the lower halves of the pointer and middle fingers are connected to your eyes. - While activating pressure points on your hands is fairly easy, it’s important to be in tune with your body and not do anything you’re uncomfortable with or that causes you pain. English novelist Jane Austen’s beloved works, like “Pride and Prejudice,” explored the dependence of women on marriage in British high society. -- Whether she’s describing bickering families, quiet declarations of love, or juicy gossip, Jane Austen’s writing often feels as though it was written just for you. Her dry wit and cheeky playfulness informs her heroines, whose conversational tone welcomes readers with a conspiratorial wink. Iseult Gillespie explores the sly societal satire and unique tongue-in-cheek humor of Jane Austen. Lesson by Iseult Gillespie, directed by Compote Collective. Part of the reason it s so hard to get over a crush is because we have no idea who our beloved really is: we idealise them because we have such a basic idea of who they really are. The best cure for love is therefore simple in structure: get to know them better… Sign up to our new newsletter and get 10% off your first online order of a book, product or class: https://bit.ly/2LayJ9F For gifts and more from The School of Life, visit our online shop: https://bit.ly/2TMMTHl Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://bit.ly/2TY8pYI 2TdUk5h FURTHER READING You can read more on this and other subjects on our blog, here: https://bit.ly/2TJOBJp MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Visit us in person at our London HQ: https://bit.ly/2TjvVLG Watch more films on RELATIONSHIPS in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLrelationships You can submit translations and transcripts on all of our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_panel?c=UC7IcJI8PUf5Z3zKxnZvTBog&tab=2 Find out how more here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623?hl=en-GB SOCIAL MEDIA Feel free to follow us at the links below: 2TdUk5h Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theschooloflifelondon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheSchoolOfLife Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theschooloflifelondon/ CREDITS Produced in collaboration with: Khyan Mansley https://mobile.twitter.com/khyan?lang=en

We built the Tree of Life Explorer! Check it out here: https://labs.minutelabs.io/Tree-of-Life-Explorer/ And watch our video about why we made it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eE2fCLay-Q With our current understanding of evolutionary history and our strategy of cladistic naming, if we wanted to have both goldfish and sharks under a single group called "fish", then mammals must also be called fish. Thanks also to our Patreon patrons https://www.patreon.com/MinuteEarth and our YouTube members. ___________________________________________ To learn more, start your googling with these keywords: - Phylogenetic tree: a branching diagram or "tree" showing the evolutionary relationships among various biological species - Cladogram: a diagram used in cladistics to show relations among organisms - Monophyletic group (or clade): a group of organisms that consists of all the descendants of a common ancestor - Paraphyletic group: all of the descendants of a common ancestor minus one or more monophyletic groups - Similarity trap: people can name different species the same thing, only to find out they aren’t even closely related.
