Planet Earth lives by the laws of gravity discovered by Sir Isaac Newton. Gravity is constant. It s something entirely unshakeable that we can always rely on in this ever-changing world, right? Umm, not really. In fact, it’s not as honest and clear as you think. There are gravitational anomalies in some places where gravity behaves like it’s gone crazy. In such places this law can’t be applied: there, a car can go uphill with its engine off, a waterfall doesn’t fall, and a very heavy boulder can sit on top of a rock at a very strange angle without tumbling down. If you stop your car on the Magnetic Hill going up the slope and put it on neutral, it’ll start crawling upwards, eventually reaching the speed of up to 12 mph. - Near the village of Nowe Czarnowo, there’s a forest, in the depth of which you can find a strangely looking pine grove. Planted in 1930s, there are 400 trees that sharply twist to the north almost at the roots and then grow upwards in a semicircle. - Ever seen an upward moving waterfall? You can have a look at one on the Faroe Islands halfway from Iceland to Scotland. - If you ever get up to the top of the dam, which is about 726 ft high, you can try a little trick: take a bottle of water and pour it over the edge. You’ll see the water flow up instead of spilling down. - Another gravitational anomaly located on a road. Locals once found out that, if you put an empty can or a bottle on the ground, it will immediately start rolling uphill. - If you happen to be in Burma, make sure to visit this well-known site. A gold-leaf covered boulder sits upon the edge of a cliff, and a small pagoda is built on top of it. The impressive thing about the rock is that it only lightly touches the cliff for support. - If there ever was a thing that said “I defy gravity” out loud, it’s the Stone of Davasco. The huge 300-ton boulder stands precariously on the edge of a cliff and rocks a little bit from side to side in the wind. - The true mind-blowing feature of Devils Tower is that scientists can’t explain how it came to existence in the first place. You see, it’s an 867-foot rock formation with walls so steep they’re basically vertical. This piece of stone just rose amid rolling plains of Wyoming with nothing like it for miles and miles around.- - The House of Mystery in Gold Hill, Oregon, amazes its visitors with gravity-defying effects: you can’t stand straight there, always leaning to the side and having to hold on to something for balance. - Hudson Bay, Canada, is probably the only place in the world where gravity is indeed lower than anywhere else on the planet! Even skeptics can’t smirk at it because the difference has been measured with precision equipment. SUMMARY: - The Oceanos, built in France and first launched in July 1952, was a Greek-owned cruise ship that traveled along the Marseilles - Madagascar – Mauritius route. - Usually, the ship s crew would’ve organized a "sail-away" party with the entertainers and musicians on the deck outside. But everything seemed to be going wrong this time. - The problem was that, in an attempt to make up for the previous delay, the Oceanos entered rough seas. But it turned out to be a fatal mistake. - The situation was much, much more dangerous because the Oceanos encountered rogue waves, also called monster waves. They’re incredibly large and unexpected; they appear all of a sudden and can wreck even large ships and ocean liners. - The ocean water was flooding the ship through the main drainage pipes, which meant that it was uncontrollably spilling out of toilets, showers, and the water disposal system. - As soon as the crew realized that the ship was beyond hope and couldn t be saved, they got ready to abandon it. They didn’t follow the standard procedure of locking the portholes on the lower decks, and they even failed to raise the alarm! - The captain and his crew weren t going to save the day. They departed on several lifeboats without looking back. Luckily, the ship still had its entertainers. - Moss Hills performed on the Oceanos as a singer and guitarist. He could tell that the ship was having a problem, but at that time, he hadn t realized yet how serious the situation was. - As soon as Hills realized the horror of the situation, as well as the fact that they couldn t expect any help from the panicking crew, he sprang into action. - The South African Air Force and the South African Navy sent 16 rescue helicopters that were to arrive at any moment. - Meanwhile, Moss Hills organized an orderly evacuation process where children and women were the first to use the remaining lifeboats. - All 571 people who were on board the ship after the crew abandoned it were saved. Moss and Tracy Hills, as well as Butler and Boltman, were among the last to leave the ship. - At about 3:30 PM the next day, the Oceanos touched the sand bottom, 300 ft (90 m) below the ocean’s surface. Lunik 9 is an old communist era housing estate built on the outskirts of Kosice in the east of Slovakia. Now it is better known as being Europe’s largest gypsy slum. Everyone told us not to visit because it was dangerous and so I had to go and investigate to see if it was as dangerous as everybody told me or if it was something different. Welcome to the very first Pakistan Travel vlog! We did this amazing road trip in early 2019 with CPIC Global. This travel video shows you our first day in Pakistan, and the beginning of our journey from Islamabad to Skardu in Northern Pakistan. We start out driving from Besham to Chillas, but continue to, Fairy Meadows, Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza Valley, Nanga Parbat, and many other places along the Karakoram highway. Pakistan tourism is on the rise. It s often called a dangerous place to travel. Our purpose was to spend our time, as foreigners in Pakistan to disprove this, and show the beauty of the people and the landscape to the world. While normally I solo travel, I was excited to have so many friends on the trip. Consider: Barringer Crater was claimed to be a meteorite impact site but geologists dismissed it as a volcanic formation.
