One man flew faster than the speed of sound while freefalling 120,000 feet from space. Was it Superman? Well, close but not exactly. Felix Baumgartner is an Austrian Skydiver and a bit of a daredevil. Ever since he was little, he loved heights, and his life-long dream was to become a skydiver. He began working on his goal at the age of 16. His achievements started getting more and more thrilling. He was the first person in the whole world to Cross the English Channel with a pair of carbon wings, and the first person to fly next to an airplane. He would parachute from different fixed objects all the way down to the ground. - His most mind-boggling achievement came with the Red Bull Stratos Project on October 14th, 2012. When Felix was 43 years old, he made his life-long dream come to life. - Back in the day, there was another legendary man named Joseph Kittinger. He was an Air Force Command Pilot, and in the 1960s he performed the highest dive in history. - The speed of sound is calculated by a Mach Number. When something approaches the speed of sound, they get close to the Mach number 1. - Baumgartner’s team put together an advanced capsule that would operate as Felix’s controlled climate during his ascent to 120,000ft. - His suit was specifically coated to keep his body protected. Since the whole mission was going to be recorded, he was equipped with cameras on both his legs and his helmet. - After extensive training, the record-breaking day had arrived. It was October 14th, 2012. - Baumgartner climbed to 128,100 feet with the high-tech balloon. The sliding doors of the capsule opened, and his most thrilling and terrifying experience began. - As he was falling, his speed was accelerating, and so was his heartrate. He could see the earth’s curve. He was both amazed and terrified. - The moment he reached his maximum velocity, he slowed down. He was in a free fall for 4 minutes and 20 seconds before deploying his parachute at 8,200 ft. - His mission was a success, despite the minor difficulties. His excitement for the supersonic fall that broke all the records was indescribable. In today s video, we take you to an Argentine steakhouse in the city of Mar del Plata where we try two mouth-watering steaks! This restaurant is called "El Palacio del Bife", which literally translates to "The Palace of Beef" and they sure know how to prepare a delicious steak. We ordered the bife de chorizo (New York-style steak) and the bife de lomo (beef tenderloin), two very popular cuts. This video should give you a bit of an idea of why Argentine beef is so famous around the world! We also ordered eggplant parmesan, a bottle of malbec, a traditional dessert of sweets with cheese, and were surprised at the very end of the meal with some limoncello on the house. If you ever find yourself in Mar del Plata, this is a steakhouse well worth visiting. Bon appetit! We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world. We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country. We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey s parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine. From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut. While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina. Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival. We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey s dad again. To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country. The door in the kit comes untreated, so start by applying a desired stain/finish to the door with a rag. 2. Attach the mounting board over the opening with 4 inch structural screws. Keep a level on the board and loosely screw the board in until it’s roughly in the right place. Once the board is mostly attached to the wall and level, secure all the screws. 3. Attach the mounting hardware to the mounting board. Again, only secure the bolts loosely until the entire rail has been attached. Then secure them all with a wrench. 4. Slide the stops onto the mounting hardware. This will ensure the door doesn’t slide off the rail. 5. Attach the door hardware to the door and hang it in place on the rail. 6. With the door in position, put the floor guide in the correct position on the floor to help guide the door from the bottom. Mark its location with a pencil. 7. Remove the door and secure the floor guide to the floor with the drill and some screws. 8. Rehang the door. With it in the correct position, make sure it’s perfectly over the floor guide. 9. Add the anti-jump blocks that come with the kit onto the railing to prevent the door from sliding off the rail. The kit comes with all the materials required to assemble and hang the door, though Nathan choose to add additional 3/4 inch stock in this application because the wall was not plumb and the door would have hit the baseboard otherwise. Japanese sword-making is a tradition that goes back centuries, and one that’s carried on to this day. Each sword takes dedication, skill and can take over 18 months to create. The resulting blades can be worth thousands of dollars. So what makes them so expensive? Becoming a swordsmith in Japan takes a 5-year apprenticeship, and there are only around 180 working smiths today. Master Akihira has been making these swords for 21 years at his studio just outside of Tokyo, Japan. Japanese swords have always been more than just weapons, they were artworks, status symbols, and throughout history had a huge spiritual importance.  Each sword is a unique artwork and one that is made to be admired as you would a painting. As sheets of steel are folded into each other again and again wood grain-like patterns form, and these patterns coupled with the skill of the swordmaster create a completely unique blade.  Knowing what to look for in each sword is important, characteristics like the angle of the blade and the way the metal is folded could give away the era in which it was made, and even who made it. Every small detail is treated as equally important.  Looking at the months of work that go into creating each blade, it s easy to see why these swords command such a high price. And as there are less and less sword masters across Japan, these works of art are only going to become more valuable.
