Come join us in Trelew, Argentina for modern Argentine cuisine along with a visit to the Paleontological Museum. Our first stop of the day was a visit to Museo Regional Pueblo de Luis (The Regional Museum of Trelew) located in a former railway station to learn more about Welsh cultural and history as it relates to settlement in Patagonia. For lunch we ate at Sugar, one of the best restaurants in Trelew, trying modern contemporary Argentine cuisine. We started off with a bread basket and house red wine. For our mains we had beef (Argentine steak) with ground lamb and peanuts with a potato in a mushroom sauce and a spicy carrot coated in paprika. For dessert we ordered walnut cake with dulce del leche and cream filling along with cheesecake featuring a copious amount of berries. When then visited the Trelew Museum of Paleontology Egidio Feruglio (Museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio) with fascinating dinosaur fossil remains. We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world. We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country. We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey s parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine. From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut. While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina. Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival. We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey s dad again. To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country. Even though traveling by plane is common nowadays, these huge steel birds are still surrounded by secrets and myths that give birth to a lot of questions. Pardon the pun, but it’s high time to get more answers! Ever noticed, for example, how on a cold day, you see your own puff of breath when you exhale? The exact same thing happens to a plane. The temperature at 25,000 feet or higher, which is cruising altitude, is really low, around -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Ok, but why are these contrails sometimes long and sometimes short? That’s why they’re often called "condensation trails", or contrails. - Long contrails form in humid conditions, while low humidity makes them much shorter. - Hot air is less dense than cool air. This means the air molecules are spread further apart from each other, so they come into contact with the plane’s wings less. As a result, it’s harder for a plane to take off. - Losing an engine in-flight isn’t even considered a serious problem by pilots. This is mainly because planes that fly over oceans, or for long-distance routes, have special certificates that indicate the exact time they can operate safely with one engine. - If the cabin is depressurized at a high altitude, the passengers won’t be able to breathe, so they use oxygen masks. At the same time, the pilot will start descending right away to get lower than 10,000 feet, where it’s possible to breathe normally again. - Most airlines claim that the safest seat is just a myth. But statistics of airplane crashes beg to differ. They say that this seat is at the back. - The black stickers are located on about four windows in a cabin. Each of them is aligned with the edge of the wings. - The frequent pressurization and depressurization caused the window corners to deform and even break. Turned out, round windows can withstand the pressure of cruising altitude much better. - Apart from the fact that, on board, you’ll get only defrosted dishes which’ve lost a big part of their flavor, the pressurization of the cabin is to blame. - If you’re a nervous flyer, here’s a tip for you – choose morning flights, because the air is less bumpy at this time. - Ears pop because there’s a rapid change in pressure when a plane reaches a cruising altitude or lands. There’s not enough time for the pressure inside the inner ear and the air pressure outside to equalize. - Sadly, tray table surfaces have eight times more bacteria than the lavatory flush buttons. Unfortunately, quite often, cleaning crews don’t have enough time between flights to take care of everything properly. - A newborn can become the citizen of the country where the airline is registered; the country over which they were born; or the country where the plane landed. - Training for skydivers requires many hours, in which they learn all the details about handling a parachute and how to land safely. What’s more, even the most experienced skydivers don’t jump from an altitude higher than 15,000 feet.
