A team of Russian scientists stated that they were able to reverse the state of quantum in time for a minuscule fraction of time. For this purpose, they used an IBM quantum computer and innumerable attempts, 85% of which were successful in a simple system, and only 45% in a system that’s a bit more complicated. Quantum teleportation was proved to be real, and now it seems like even time itself isn’t truly safe. - A quantum computer is a real miracle of science, with vast processing power that comes with one main difference from the classic computers: classic silicon-based computers use bits to store information. - Quantum computers use quantum bits or qubits instead of bits. These are also the most basic units of information for a quantum computer. - When bits can only be in one of the two possible states, qubits use quantum particles, which can be not only in one of two states, but also in both at the same time. - For a time-reversal experiment, only two qubits were used, and even if it wasn’t true time-reversal, it’s a giant breakthrough for quantum computing itself. - The result of these experiments shows that by applying a special equation to qubit particles, they can effectively step back in their state like after a good sip from the Fountain of Youth. - A group of computer scientists was able to basically transport a particle through space in an instant. One moment it was there, and then it blinked in another place! - As we already know, scanning a particle applies stress on it, and therefore disrupts its state almost completely. - Information about the properties of this particle was then sent to the second particle and it inherited them all, effectively becoming the first particle. - None of the particles were really transported anywhere, but the information about them was teleported. - In basic terms, teleportation means scanning and disrupting something in one place and reassembling it in another with the use of information from the scan. Therefore, what scientists saw there was still teleportation. - Quantum teleportation, just like quantum time-reversal, can’t be used on anything except particles, like electrons and photons. - But who knows what could be possible if all this new knowledge could be used to build the first practical quantum computers. Start by taking the door off of the hinges. 2. Remove all the hardware from the door using a screwdriver or a drill. 3. Mark the layout for the door. In general, Nathan likes to start with a 4” rail on the top, center the middle rail around the doorknob, and leave any excess on the bottom. 4. Cut all the trim to size and miter the edges. 5. Apply wood glue to the cut the trim and also along the edges of the layout on the door. Glue the trim to the door and secure it in place with the brad nails. 6. Fill in all the nail holes with wood putty and caulk around the edges of the trim. 7. Paint the door to the desired sheen and color. 8. Install the new hardware to the door and hang it back up. Resources: Updating a hollow core door can save some time trying to hang a completely new door and can save some money compared to buying a new door as well. To add the fake panels, Nathan used some molding, which can be found at any home center. From Alona Beach I did an island hopping tour that began in Panglao, that took us to Balicasag Island and onto the Virgin Island. Balicasag Island is a marine sanctuary and divers paradise in Philippines. The boat ride is about 45 minutes there, then 25 minutes to the Virgin Island on the way back. Come join us for another Argentinian food adventure in Trelew, Chubut as we try artisanal Argentine pasta at Raices before heading to Hotel Touring Club tavern to try an enormous picada. One thing we ve got to be clear about in Argentina is that it has some of the best pasta outside of Italy. At Raices we ended up sampling gnocchi and cannelloni along with Malbec red wine and a delicious carrot cake for dessert. After lunch we visit some local parks and lakes in Trelew. The following day we visit Hotel Touring Club for a tasty Picada. This place oozes character and is on the Butch Cassidy trail. We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world. We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country. We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey s parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine. From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut. While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina. Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival. We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey s dad again. I know, it s hard to wrap your mind around. But it got me wondering: could people live underwater? Come to think of it, living underwater would have loads of advantages. For example, hurricanes and tsunamis wouldn t be dangerous anymore: in a deep-water house, you wouldn t even feel the raging waves. You wouldn t need a swimming pool if you decided to throw a pool party. But if people had to spend their lives in the water, they’d have to evolve and turn into a completely different species... That s why, if you spent all your time underwater, they would atrophy, and you’d become incredibly weak. - Your limbs aren t the most effective implements when it comes to swimming. That s why you’d also have to grow fins. - At a depth of 650 ft, it would already be too dark for you to see anything. And don t forget about the water pressure! - Your ears and eyes have been developing for thousands of years to work in the air. That s why underwater communication would be a huge challenge. - Scientists still don t understand the reasons completely, but when you spend too much time in the water, your skin starts to break down. - However, scientists don t deny that one day, genetics might go as far as to modify humans so that they’re able to live underwater! - Underwater cities and colonies wouldn t be built deeper than 1,000 feet. Any deeper than that and the structures, along with their inhabitants, would collapse under the incredible pressure. - Plus, people wouldn’t only have to solve the problem of oxygen supply, but also figure out how to maintain the correct ratio of various air components. - One of the main problems in underwater colonies would be an infection. If someone got sick in such an enclosed space, the virus would spread very fast. - But at least underwater colonies wouldn t suffer from a lack of food! Living on the ocean floor, you’d get access to all the seafood you can find there (and that s a lot!). - People could set up farms raising shrimp and fish, which are perfect sources of protein. - It would be possible to grow special plants for making ecologically friendly fuel, such as biodiesel, more cheaply. - The technology to make underwater colonies possible already exists! These colonies can easily support up to 100 people, and scientists are working on ways to make this number bigger. - The main problems so far are creating working evacuation routes, figuring out how to get enough air, and how to make the environment humid enough. In this episode, we visit Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg on the Trans Siberian Railway. Most of this Russia travel vlog is spent in the Ural Mountains, the barrier between Western Russia, and Siberia. We join with TOCHKA 4x4 a local adventure group for some serious off roading. While we realize that happened next is not an accurate depiction of everyday Russia, we were surprised with some traditional music, and guns. We were offered the opportunity my birthday by firing off a few rounds in the forest, we had never done this before. Though, I admit we wanted to. This small part of Russian culture is definitely the Russian stereotype, and it was a lot of fun to join the locals celebrating this way for a night. Next we met a group of pagans living simply in the forest. Here, we helped them create trinkets with molten metal, another first for me. Lastly we were invited to dinner at the house of a Russian Oligarch (Who had a tank in his front yard), and drank vodka while being served some incredible Russian Food. A bit of a background story. This is a train journey of 10,000 km across Russia, the biggest country in the world. 25 days to visit Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Ulan-Ude, and Vladivostok. Did you know that there are Welsh towns in Patagonia, Argentina?! In today s video, we take a day trip to Gaiman in the province of Chubut, a town that was founded in 1874 by some of the first settlers in arrive to Argentina. We have lunch at a cosy pub, visit a few museums, hike through an old railroad tunnel, and of course, enjoy a delicious Welsh afternoon tea complete with scones, cream pie and Welsh cake! We hope to visit more Welsh towns in Argentina as we continue our travels further west. To get to Gaiman from Trelew take 28 de Julio bus by loading a transportation card. With buses coming about once every hour. Our visit to Gaiman was one of our favorite day trips in Patagonia. We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world. We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country. We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey s parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine. From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut. While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina. Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival. We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey s dad again. So, you tap a button and something happens — that’s how the world works, right? Well, not exactly. The world is actually filled with buttons that are only there to seem like they do something, while in fact being useless. And not only buttons — there are all kinds of things that are there for no apparent reason. If you live on, say, 15th floor and you’re in a hurry to get home because your bladder is about to burst, for example, you’ll probably feel fine running up the stairs. But if you decide to wait for the elevator instead, you’ll smash that door close button until the doors finally close. In New York, for example, there are 1,000 of them, but currently only 100 actually work when you press them. - Such buttons have an important psychological effect: doing something feels better than not doing anything. When you press the button at a crossing, you feel more assured that the light will eventually switch to green. - Not to disrupt the work of the whole network, many of the traffic control switches were turned into placebo buttons. - The elevator doors will stay open for no less than the time appointed to them, no matter how much or how long you mash that button. - So unless you’re an emergency service worker or just happen to know the override code, you won’t be able to make the doors close faster. - If you live outside the US, though, your chances of getting a working close button are much higher. In many countries, there are no such strict regulations, so you can easily find an elevator where, if you press the door close button, the doors will actually shut immediately. - Most office buildings have a central heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system (HVAC for short). And the thing about this central system is that you can’t actually affect it from anywhere outside the control center. - In fact, there are two general types of office thermostats: one that is total placebo and one that is only partially so. - The partial placebo thermostat has a little bit of sway: it can change a couple degrees in both directions, but no more than that. - Whenever you download a file from the Internet or install a new app on your device, you see a bar that informs you of how much time you have left to wait. Ever seen it stuck at 99% for, like, forever, though? Yeah, it’s exactly what it seems: the progress bar is always wildly inaccurate. - When you run, you burn calories for sure, but the precise amount depends on various factors, such as your weight, overall fitness, and body fat percentage. - This counter is, once again, only there to assure you that you’re doing everything right. The downside of this is that even if you’re not doing it right, the treadmill won’t let you know. - When a call attempt failed, the system didn’t tell the caller about it, but simply switched to another recipient instead. So when somebody took the phone on the other end of the line, you apologized for dialing a wrong number and tried again. This way, you didn’t feel the frustration of having a failed call.
