However, instead of opting for a typical toast and medialuna combination we went even more decadent opting for cakes and pancakes! We ended up ordering for breakfast two coffees with milk (cafe con leche), a piece of chocolate cake with dulce de leche and whipped cream, a waffle with dulce de leche, cream and chocolate bits, an alfajor and our only savory item a tostada with ham and cheese. Overall, it was a delicious and very decadent Argentinian breakfast in Esquel. This is the type of breakfast you d only have on a special occasion. We are Samuel and Audrey, a travel vlogging couple from Canada. In this travel channel we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world. We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country. We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey s parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba visiting both La Cumbrecita and Villa General Belgrano with highlights including hiking and delicious German and Swiss cuisine. From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut. While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina. Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival. We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey s dad again. To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country. This would result in a flameout and a very unhappy pilot. -Flameouts can also be caused by an equipment failure on the plane itself, typically in the fuel pump or other engine components. -The Federal Aviation Administration requires commercial planes to be able to fly and land safely with only one engine operational. -It’s so easy to land a plane on one engine that many autopilot systems can manage it without assistance from the humans in the cockpit. -This kind of total failure is extremely unlikely, but there have been isolated incidents of that very thing happening to aircraft in flight. For example, Air Canada Flight 143 suffered a double engine flameout in 1983. -A lot of different things need to go wrong before a complete engine failure, so it s really unlikely. -"Miracle on the Hudson" in January 2009 occurred after an Airbus A320 collided with a flock of geese shortly after taking off from New York City s LaGuardia Airport. The accident resulted in the loss of both engines and forced the pilot, Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, to make a risky water landing in the nearby Hudson river. -Helicopters have an even easier time landing without power than planes do. A helicopter s rotors act like a combination propeller and wing, providing both lift and forward momentum. Piedra Parada is a natural protected area that’s located about 130 kilometres east of Esquel, and it makes for a fun and easy day trip. We organized a tour through Meraki Sur in town and they came to pick us up from our accommodations the next morning. It was about a 2 and a half-hour drive to Piedra Parada during which time we bid farewell to forests and mountains, as we ventured further into the Patagonian steppe. Gualjaina is located 90 kilometres from Esquel and was the last service area before reaching our destination. We drove another 30 kilometres from this point before we spotted Piedra Parada rising like a giant monolith in the middle of the valley. Piedra Parada sticks out like a sore thumb in the Valley of the Chubut River. Its origins are volcanic since once upon a time, this very area would have been the caldera of an ancient mega volcano. It would have first erupted some 60 million years ago, before the Andes were even formed, so this rock right here has witnessed a whole lot. It stands over 200 meters tall and it’s an ‘it’ destination for rock climbing. After a guided walk around Piedra Parada, we returned back to the van where they had set up a nice picnic lunch for us. There were empanadas, mini-pizzas, sandwiches, pigs in a bun, and more. It was all homemade and delicious! And really, who could complain with these views?! We then drove across the Chubut River towards Cañon de la Buitrera, which literally translates to the Vulture’s Canyon. The walls of the canyon stand around 150 meters tall, and it was a beautiful place for a hike. Our guide led us up to the ‘aleros’ which are small refuges in the rock, almost like caves. These would have been used by the pre-Tehuelches and Tehuelches who inhabited this area in a seasonal manner up to 5000 years ago. We also learned about how they would’ve stored their guanaco meat in the ground, under layers of salt to help preserve it. There were lots info boards with even more information, so it’s worth the hike up if you make here. So, as we’ve already mentioned, this is a really popular rock climbing destination, and you really notice this once you enter the Vulture’s Canyon. This place was really put on the tourist map back in 2012 when the Petzl brand, which is known for organizing rock climbing gatherings chose Piedra Parada as its destination of the year. Now, this canyon draws climbers from all over the world and we got to see them in action. By the time we finished our hike, it was merienda time, AKA afternoon tea time! Come join us for an Argentinian food tour as we head all over Esquel, Chubut to eat at different restaurants specializing in Argentine parrilla, pasta and pizza in Argentina. Even though Esquel is known more for hiking and day-trips to National Parks you can find some fantastic Argentine food at various restaurants in town. Our first stop in town was at De Maria, a local parrilla, where we tried eating bife de chorizo, vacio along with beetroot salad and red wine. Our next stop on our Argentine food tour was at a restaurant called Don Chiquino that specializes in Patagonian pastas. We ended up having Sorrentinos with walnuts, ricotta and mushrooms along with lasagna including Patagonian lamb. Our favorite part about this restaurant was the amazing collection of items and trinkets giving it a bodegon feel. Our final restaurant in Esquel, a pizzeria called Fitzroya where we drank old fashioned style coke along with a Napolitana pizza. We had the privilege of traveling around Argentina for nearly 3 months from January- April 2019 on a trip covering a large section of the country. We kicked things off with several days in Buenos Aires where we were joined by Audrey s parents eating and sightseeing around some of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city. We then flew from Buenos Aires to Cordoba where we spent a couple of weeks in the Sierras of Cordoba. From Cordoba, we then travelled a considerable distance on an overnight bus to Mar Del Plata just in time for a special food festival called Feria Masticar featuring the best of Argentine food and wine. We spent several days enjoying beaches and seafood before heading south to Patagonia to visit the province of Chubut. While on the Atlantic side of Chubut we visited Puerto Madryn, Peninsula Valdes, Trelew, Gaiman and Dolavon. To summarize our time in this area, we had incredibly close encounters with wildlife including penguins, sea lions and guanacos while also experiencing Welsh culture in Argentina. Our time in Patagonia continued as we headed from east to west trading more barren landscapes for thick forests, impressive mountains and magnificent lakes. We spent significant time in both Esquel and El Bolson with day trips to visit Trevelin, Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Cholila and Lago Puelo. Highlights included sailing, hiking, riding vintage trains and partaking in the national asado festival. We finished visiting Patagonia with time spent in Villa La Angostura, San Martin De Los Andes and Bariloche where we enjoyed more stunning scenery and hiking. On our way back to Buenos Aires, we took the Tren Patagonia to Las Grutas before meeting up with Audrey s dad again. To finish off our trip in Argentina, we spent more time in the capital and later Mendoza where we got to experience wine tourism to its fullest extent. Overall, we had an amazing time travelling around Argentina having only scratched the surface of this vast and diverse country. They haven t been slumbering to start with, so the magma at their core is hot and volatile. -Other volcanoes will have been sleeping for too long, and their stock of lava wasn t that huge to begin with, so they won t really make a blast. -Most volcanoes are underwater, so their eruptions will be very different. When a submerged volcano erupts, no one on the surface will even notice it if they re just a bit away. -There are only four supervolcanoes on the planet, the most famous being the Yellowstone supervolcano. -Almost immediately volcanoes bring disaster to their surrounding areas with hot lava and rockfall. As soon as that stops, smoke rises into the atmosphere, and ash starts falling to the ground. It blankets all surfaces, smothering grass, trees, and bushes, and they stop producing oxygen. -CO2 is a greenhouse gas, and after a while its high concentration in the atmosphere will warm up the planet again. Soon, the temperatures will rise to unbearable values, and it’ll be scalding hot until CO2 goes away at least in part. -About 95% of all living things are gone — it’s basically the same as what happened when a meteorite struck the planet in the era of dinosaurs. -When carbon dioxide dissipates and the temperature returns to more or less normal, plants will start appearing. -New and bigger species appear. They continue evolving and growing. At some point in the distant future, there appears the first species that learns to use tools. -Scientists point out there has never been an eruption of this kind on Earth, and there’s no indication it might happen in the future.
