In today s video, we re taking you to a tiny house in the woods. That s right, we are going in search of more unusual accommodations once more! For the past 7 years, we’ve been travelling around the world and bringing you along for the journey. Well, 2020 has turned out way different than we expected. After three and half months spent mostly indoors, we are slowly starting to travel again, albeit close to home. We’ve been going on mini road trips in search of tiny houses and unusual accommodations close to nature, and we have found some real gems. Today, we ll be showing you around this tiny home in the woods (🏡 https://bit.ly/2V4G42e 🏡) set in Scarborough near the Toronto Zoo and Rouge National Urban Park. This custom-designed shipping container home has a circular window that looks off into the woods and on a clear night, you can even see the Big Dipper right from the bed. The tiny home is off-grid and has a foot pump sink, a special composting toilet, and freshwater provided in jugs. There s a propane camping grill for cooking outdoors and a firepit for roasting marshmallows and making smores. We really enjoyed our two-night stay in this tiny home. It was relaxing and secluded, and during the day we went hiking in the nearby park. In this must-see makeover, designers Charlie Coull and Nicole Lanteigne put their heads together to bring new life to a family s lackluster home. To showcase the homeowners retro furniture, the design duo blended their modern and classic styles to create a one-of-a-kind space. The star of the show is the deep emerald green built-in hutch in the dining room, which contrasts beautifully with the teak table, vintage chairs and metallic accents. Charlie and Nicole took advantage of the home s high ceilings by adding in floor-to-ceiling storage to take care of the clutter. Plus, we can t stop thinking about the dreamy laundry room with a stacked washer and dryer! Kevin finds Sunil working with electrician Heath Eastman to decide where receptacles can and must go. The flat Mid-Century modern roof lends itself to a rubber surface. Kevin finds Tom working with the roofing company to install one on the addition. One of the first apprentices from the Generation Next initiative was Nathan Gilbert, who has continued his career as a carpenter. Tom pitches in with Nathan on a small project in order to find out what he’s been up to since he graduated from the program. Forty years ago, one of Norm’s first projects for This Old House was to install a skylight on our first renovation in Dorchester.
