In 1688, in Pennsylvania, a group of four men created the Germantown Petition, which made the case that slavery was immoral and that it was inconsistent with Christian beliefs in general, and Quaker beliefs specifically. While the petition wasn t ultimately adopted by the Quaker hierarchy, examining the document and its authors goals gives us a better insight into slavery in the colonies and some of the earliest organized attempts at abolition. Today we re going in search of icebergs and glaciers by boat, so join us for a full day of cruising through Los Glaciares National Park in Patagonia! We did this boat tour with MarPatag aboard Maria Turquesa and it was a full day excursion. The name of this particular tour is Glaciers Gourmet, and you can choose between a gourmet tasting menu served on the private deck, or a fancy lunchbox, which is what we opted for. Over the course we saw numerous icebergs and glaciers. The first of the day was Seco Glaciar, which translates to dry glacier and refers to the fact that it is currently receding. This was followed by Heim Glacier, which is a hanging glacier had these incredible meltwater cascades running down the side of the mountain. Next on the itinerary was the Spegazzini Glacier, which is named after Carlos Luis Spegazzini, the Italian-Argentine botanist who was the first to study the local flora. The main characteristic of this glacier is its height which reaches 135 meters along its front. This makes it the highest glacier in Los Glaciares National Park and one of the most important. At one point during the boat tour, the guides fished a piece of ice from the lake, so guests had the option to sip whiskey with glacial ice. Halfway through the cruise, we disembarked in a place called Puesto de las Vacas, which literally translates to cow stall. This is a remote part of Los Glaciares National Park, where a Finnish-Chilean couple lived and whose job it was to capture the wild cows who escaped from their estancias, and bring them back into town. That afternoon we also visited the Upsala Glacier and Bertacchi Glacier, before entering Canal de los Témpanos, also known as the Iceberg Channel. Then it was time for the main attraction: Perito Moreno Glacier! This particular glacier is the icon of Los Glaciares National Park. It’s the reason why people travel all the way to southern Patagonia...to see this one glacier! What is so special about the Perito Moreno Glacier? Well, for starters it’s one of the few glaciers in the world that is still growing. It’s also pretty massive! The glacier’s front is 5 km long, its height above water is60 meters, but its total depth is about 170 meters - so you re actually only seeing a small part of what it is. #glaciers #patagonia #elcalafate * * * * * * * * * * * * We Saw ICEBERGS & GLACIERS! 😍 BOAT TRIP of Los Glaciares National Park in Patagonia, Argentina GEAR WE USE Panasonic GH5: http://amzn.to/2yqTUyi Canon G7X ii: http://amzn.to/2yqtM6B Rode Video Micro: http://amzn.to/2wTguTM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/25KEErs * * * * * * * * * * * * SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: http://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: http://nomadicsamuel.com/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ * * * * * * * * * * * * Music We Use: http://bit.ly/SamAudreyMusic

Discover how humans lost their fur as they evolved from primates, and why we still have hair on our bodies. -- We have lots in common with our closest primate relatives. But comparatively, humans seem a bit… underdressed. Instead of thick fur covering our bodies, many of us mainly have hair on top of our heads— and a few other places. So, how did we get so naked? And why do we have hair where we do? Nina G. Jablonski explores the evolution of human hair. Lesson by Nina G. Jablonski, directed by Igor Coric, Artrake Studio. So if I asked you what people in the 2000s thought 2020 would be like, it almost sounds like a slightly mundane inquiry on the surface. 2 decades isn’t “that much” time, and it stands to reason that their predictions would be that the tech of the day would get better. Yes, that would make sense. But here’s the thing….modern smartphones, their absolute takeover of modern life, wasn’t a guarantee. IT wasn’t until 2010 or so that it seemed like these smartphones would define the upcoming decade. In 2000, they predicted that things would go a different way. A way that…well…you’ll have to see. They were a bit off.
