That said, I knew this was only temporary, and when my partner Elliot moved in with me we decided it was time to upgrade this space to have more storage for both our clothes. So, I took some measurements, drew up some plans, and decided to reach out to a contractor and get a quote on how much it would be to get exactly what I wanted. After sending over the plans, I got a quote from the contractor and let’s just say … I am not willing to spend $12K on this. I made a DIY cutting board designed for tri-tip or brisket that collects and saves all the meat juice. I used a food grade wood finish of mineral oil to seal the butcher block style maple cutting board. Tri-Tip is one of our favorite maker ranch get together meals and I thought it would be fun to design a cutting and serving board just for these occasions. Here is an easy DIY Nightstand or side table with a built in DIY Dog Bed made out of 3/4" thick oak and stained green with Minwax Solid Color wood stain in "Gentle Olive" . This DIY plywood café table can be made with about one 1/3rd of a sheet of ¾”plywood and only requires a basic hand held power tools. This table is perfect for 2 people and is easy to make! I used walnut veneer europly from Columbia forest products and made all of the cuts with my circular saw and jigsaw. I used a palm router to round over the edges but this could be done with an orbital sander. I am making furniture out of broken glass and epoxy resin. Recycling glass into furniture is something I am interested in for 2 reasons. 1. It can serve as an aggregate to reduce the amount of epoxy needed to make translucent pieces. 2. I sometimes break glass for some of my concrete molds and this gives me a way to recycle that waste. A bonus is that the glass acts as sort of a heat sink and I can pour the epoxy resin deeper without fear of it overheating. This table looks like it was made out of translucent concrete and weighs about 45 lbs. I saved all the broken glass I created from other mold making projects and used it as a glass aggregate for casting this piece of epoxy furniture. I made a positive prototype out of MDF that I used to make a negative silicone mold. I used total boat deep set fathom epoxy resin and it came out great. We worked with Benjamin Moore Paint to transform this garage into a DIY ed art gallery and studio. After some light demo to the existing workshop cabinets we got out our sprayer and painted the stucco with Benjamin Moore Regal Select in Simply White. The sprayer worked well on the stucco but we switched to rollers for the plywood walls. The concrete was pretty stained so we painted the garage floors with Benjamin Moor Floor & Patio Paint. For the accent furniture pieces we went with Benjamin Moore Aura in Eccentric Lime with a satin finish.
