When you tour Belfast Castle, you’ll learn that the structure is actually the third castle to bear that moniker. The original Belfast Castle was constructed by the Normans in the 12th century; Sir Arthur Chichester built a replacement over its bones in the 1600s. That building burned down in 1708, and this version did not begin construction until 1811. It took over 60 years to finish the third incarnation of Belfast Castle, with the final bricks being laid in 1870. Anyone sightseeing at Belfast Castle will notice its striking sandstone walls, which give the castle its distinctive reddish-brown hue. Gua Damai is located in Batu Caves, Selangor. “GUA” means cave and “DAMAI” means serene, peaceful. Situated behind the Batu Cave hill, the best climbing site and shall be the first of its kind. It has more than 120 bolted routes with grades ranging from 5 to 7’s, making it suitable for newcomers to the sport. There are also two other natural protection routes, good for learning how to use the natural protection devices used in rock climbing. The area has basic amenities such as a toilet, bench, dustbin, kiosk, table and lighting for night climbing. On the right side of the area is a playground for those who bring along family. The height of the small hill of Gua Damai offers an exhilarating view, comparing the vast difference of setting in a village and the urban city of Kuala Lumpur.

Haeundae Beach is a fine spot to view the New Year Sunrise—if you’re visiting during that time, you can gather with thousands of other revelers to watch the sun come up and start the new cycle.
