In this video, I ll show you another recipe you can use, along with more things you can add to it! DIY SLIME (with Borax): http://bit.ly/YU3QqS Ingredients: • Liquid starch (Sta-Flo, 1/2 cup) • Elmer s glue (4 or 5 oz. bottle, clear or white) • Water (1/4 cup) • Additions: - Food color - Glow in the dark paint - Glitter - Wiggle eyes, toy critters Supplies: • Bowl • Measuring cups • Plastic bag WHERE TO BUY STA-FLO (US): http://www.purex.com/store-locator Look in the aisle with the laundry detergent, fabric softener, and spray starch. .............................................. BORAX RECIPE: Find it here — http://bit.ly/YU3QqS WHERE TO BUY BORAX (US): http://www.20muleteamlaundry.com/store-locator .............................................. ALTERNATIVE RECIPES: If you live outside of the US, look for other brand products that say "detergent booster" or "liquid starch", those may work as a substitute. I think detergent booster (Borax) and liquid starch (Sta-Flo) have the best results and make slime that is easier to handle. Corn starch recipes didn t have the same consistency and didn t work for me. If you have any other recipes, feel free to include them in the comments. Liquid laundry detergent will work, but only for white glue. This is not my favorite recipe because it makes a sticky slime, but if you absolutely can t find any of the other ingredients and you really want to make slime, it s an option: • Liquid laundry detergent (1/4 cup) • Elmer s glue (4 oz. bottle, white) • Water (1/4 cup) .............................................. ❋ Related Videos ❋ DIY Slime http://bit.ly/YU3QqS DIY Button Coaster http://bit.ly/18utdaB .............................................. ❋ Follow me! ❋ FACEBOOK http://facebook.com/sealemon TWITTER http://twitter.com/sea_lemon INSTAGRAM http://instagram.com/sealemon PINTEREST http://pinterest.com/sealemon TUMBLR http://sealemon.co GOOGLE+ http://bit.ly/SeaLemonGplus ETSY SHOP http://sealemon.etsy.com .............................................. In which John Green teaches you about various reform movements in the 19th century United States. From Utopian societies to the Second Great Awakening to the Abolition movement, American society was undergoing great changes in the first half of the 19th century. Attempts at idealized societies popped up (and universally failed) at Utopia, OH, New Harmony, IN, Modern Times, NY, and many other places around the country. These utopians had a problem with mainstream society, and their answer was to withdraw into their own little worlds. Others didn t like the society they saw and decided to try to change it. Relatively new Protestant denominations like the Methodists and Baptists reached out to "the unchurched" during the Second Great Awakening, and membership in evangelical sects of Christianity rose quickly. At the same time, Abolitionist societies were trying to free the slaves. Americans of the 19th century had looked at the world they were living in and decided to change it. In which John Green teaches you about the presidency of Andrew Jackson So how did a president with astoundingly bad fiscal policies end up on the $20 bill? That s a question we can t answer, but we can tell you how Jackson got to be president, and how he changed the country when he got the job. Jackson s election was more democratic than any previous presidential election. More people were able to vote, and they picked a doozie. Jackson was a well-known war hero, and he was elected over his longtime political enemy, John Quincy Adams. Once Jackson was in office, he did more to expand executive power than any of the previous occupants of the White House. He used armed troops to collect taxes, refused to enforce legislation and supreme court legislation, and hired and fired his staff based on support in elections. He was also the first president to regularly wield the presidential veto as a political tool. Was he a good president? Watch this video and draw your own conclusions. Hey teachers and students - Check out CommonLit s free collection of reading passages and curriculum resources to learn more about the events of this episode. The Higgs Boson is awesome but it s NOT responsible for most of your mass! Thanks to audible.com for supporting this episode: http://bit.ly/ZJ5Q6z The Higgs mechanism is meant to account for the mass of everything, right? Well no, only the fundamental particles, which means that electrons derive their mass entirely from the Higgs interaction but protons and neutrons, made of quarks, do not. In fact the quark masses are so small that they only make up about 1% of the mass of the proton (and a similar fraction of the neutron). The rest of the mass comes from the energy in the gluon field. Gluons are massless, but there is so much energy in the field that by E=mc^2 there is a significant amount of mass there. This is where most of your mass comes from and the mass of virtually everything around you. Thanks to Professor Derek Leinweber for his great images, animations and explanations. Click here to SUBSCRIBE, it s FREE! -- http://bit.ly/iotbs_sub Why does music make us feel happy or sad? Or angry or romantic? How can simple sound waves cause so much emotion? I went from my comfy chair to the streets of Austin to investigate how it might be written into our neuroscience and evolution. Modern neuroscience says our brains may be wired to pick certain emotions out of music because they remind us of how people move! Humans are the only species we know that creates and communicate using music, but it s still unclear how or why we do that, brain-wise. Is it just a lucky side effect of evolution, like Steven Pinker says? Or is it a deeper part of our evolutionary history, as people like Mark Changizi and Daniel Levitin argue? New evolutionary science says that we may read emotion in music because it relates to how we sense emotion in people s movements. We ll take a trip from Austin to Dartmouth to Cambodia to hear why music makes us feel so many feels. The connections between movement and music go far beyond dance moves! Gases are everywhere, and this is good news and bad news for chemists. The good news: when they are behaving themselves, it s extremely easy to describe their behavior theoretically, experimentally, and mathematically. The bad news is they almost never behave themselves. In this episode of Crash Course Chemistry, Hank tells how the work of some amazing thinkers combined to produce the Ideal Gas Law, how none of those people were Robert Boyle, and how the ideal gas equation allows you to find out pressure, volume, temperature, or number of moles. In which John Green teaches you about America s "peculiar institution," slavery. I wouldn t really call it peculiar. I d lean more toward a horrifying and depressing institution, but nobody asked me. John will talk about what life was like for an enslaved person in the 19th century United States, and how enslaved people resisted oppression, to the degree that was possible. We ll hear about cotton plantations, the violent punishment of enslaved people, the day-to-day lives of enslaved people, and slave rebellions. Nat Turner, Harriet Tubman, and Whipped Peter all make an appearance. Slavery as an institution is arguably the darkest part of America s history, and we re still dealing with its aftermath 150 years after it ended.
