So today, Craig is going to try to get inside the heads of voters by discussing how voters make decisions. Now obviously, like all decision making, voter decisions are influenced by a multitude of factors, but the three we are going to focus on today (and the three political scientists seem to think play the biggest role) are party loyalty, the issues involved in an election, and candidate characteristics. Now this all might seem like common sense, and well it sort of is, but it s important to be aware of and take into account the factors that influence our decisions - especially when considering that many voters are not particularly well-informed. Immanuel Kant was acutely aware of living in an age when philosophy would need to supplant the role once played by religion. This helped him to arrive at his most famous concept: the ‘categorical imperative.’ If you like our films, take a look at our shop (we ship worldwide): https://goo.gl/o15jWG FURTHER READING “Immanuel Kant is a philosopher who tried to work out how human beings could be good and kind – outside of the exhortations and blandishments of traditional religion. He was born in 1724 in the Baltic city of Königsberg, which at that time was part of Prussia, and now belongs to Russia (renamed Kaliningrad)...” You can read more on this and many other topics on our blog TheBookofLife.org: https://goo.gl/HnPgjd MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/8yBXZv More films on PHILOSOPHY in our playlist below: http://bit.ly/TSOLphilosophy Do you speak a different language to English? Gamma-ray bursts are not only incredible to study, but their discovery has an epic story all its own. Today Phil takes you through some Cold War history and then dives into what we know. Bursts come in two rough varieties: Long and short. Long ones are from hypernovae, massive stars exploding, sending out twin beams of matter and energy. Short ones are from merging neutron stars. Both kinds are so energetic they are visible for billions of light years, and both are also the birth announcements of black holes. AyA Kitchens designer Patrick Ryan explains how he designed a gorgeous open-concept kitchen, living room and laundry room with smart storage. See the transitional-style space which combines traditional, modern and eclectic looks into one stunning first floor. Patrick utilized the large layout to give the homeowners plenty of storage options. Custom shaker-style cabinets, fitted with warm birch interiors, are built to the kitchen ceiling for dramatic flow and increased capacity. Pull-out pantries, accessories and fittings make the drawers and cabinets highly functional and organized. A slate-grey finish throughout the kitchen, living room and laundry room ties the transitional-style spaces together.
