Have ever wondered how digital illustrations are made? This video explains the basics. Help us keep making videos by supporting us in https://www.patreon.com/MinuteEarth We try to leave jargon out of our videos, but if you want to learn more about this topic, here are some handy keywords to get your googling started: - A raster graphics image is a digital image made of a grid of pixels - Software able to edit raster graphics: Photoshop, Corel Painter, GIMP, Krita, etc. - GIMP is free and open-source. Check them at https://www.gimp.org/ - Krita is also free and open-source. Check them at https://krita.org - Pixel Art is a form of digital art where images are edited on the pixel level. - Cross-stitch is a popular form of counted-thread embroidery in which X-shaped stitches in a tiled, raster-like pattern are used to form a picture. - Vector graphics images are made up of mathematical shapes and can be scaled as much as needed without loss in quality. - Software able to edit vector graphics: Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, Inkscape, etc. - Inkscape is free and open-source. Check them at https://inkscape.org/ - Jaggies is the informal name for artifacts in raster images, most frequently from aliasing. - Anti-aliasing is the technique of minimizing the distortion artifacts known as aliasing. - A graphics tablet is a computer input device that enables a user to hand-draw images with a special pen-like stylus, similar to the way a person draws images with a pencil and paper. - A clipping mask is an object whose shape masks other artwork so that only areas that lie within the shape are visible - Blend modes (or Mixing modes) in digital image editing are used to determine how two layers are blended into each other. The blending modes I use more frequently are Multiply and Overlay. ___________________________________________ Credits (and Twitter handles): Video concept and Narration by Ever Salazar (@eversalazar) With Contributions from: Henry Reich, Alex Reich, Kate Yoshida, Omkar Bhagat, Emily Elert, Peter Reich, Rachel Becker, David Goldenberg Music by: Nathaniel Schroeder: http://www.soundcloud.com/drschroeder Image Credits: Cross Stitch Pokemon - DeviantArt user MissTetraZelda http://misstetrazelda.deviantart.com/art/20th-Anniversary-of-Pokemon-602092177 Isometric Pixel Art - DeviantArt user RGBfumes http://rgbfumes.deviantart.com/art/Isometric-pixel-art-inn-house-552186962 Pixel Art Wallpaper - Flickr user RodrixAP https://www.flickr.com/photos/rodrixap/10688437793 Vector Corvette Illustration - DeviantArt user troy2007 http://troy2007.deviantart.com/art/Vector-Corvette-Illustration-332935292 ___________________________________________ A big thank-you to our supporters on https://www.patreon.com/MinuteEarth : - Today I Found Out - Maarten Bremer - Jeff Straathof - Mark Roth - Tony Fadell - Muhammad Shifaz - 靛蓝字幕组 - Jagdtiger - Alberto Bortoni - Valentin - Nicholas Buckendorf - Antoine Coeur _________________________________________ Like our videos? Remove current door from its hinges by popping up the pins with a hammer and nailset. 2. Remove the old jamb and casing with a pry bar. 3. To level the jamb, place a piece of poplar on the floor and make it level. Set your scribes the overall width of the filler and drag the scribes along the piece of poplar. 4. After marking the poplar, cut it with the circular saw, following the scribe line you traced. 5. Using wood glue, glue the poplar filler piece to the underside of the doorjamb to fill the gap. 6. Repeat the same steps to fill the back side of the jamb. 7. Move the jamb from the door kit into place. Using a 6-foot level, check that it’s plumb; if it needs adjusting, place shims between the jamb and the wall studs until the jamb is plumb. Drill through the jamb and shims, and secure with screws. 8. Using a utility knife and a hammer, remove the excess shims on either side. 9. Lift up the bookshelf and place in the pre-fashioned pivot-point pinholes on the top and bottom of the jamb. 10. Glue trim to the jamb and secure with finishing nails. Ok, I don t know if it s haunted, but no one can prove that it s not haunted. I LOVE Bantayan Island. Today was checked out the Mangroves, Santa Fe beach and of course, the extremely haunted and spooky island front castle. Also might not be a castle. Bantayan is one of my top pics for people looking to get away from overly touristy islands like Boracay. Ps. THIS VLOG IS ONE MY BEST! More about the pirate scare! Please comment and let us know what you would do in the case of a pirate attack out at sea. The next 150nm of ocean until we reached the Galapagos Islands was quite enjoyable. We saw the most incredible things in the water, I started hearing things and Riley got a tiny little crab in his ear after scraping the hull. Each day we spend on the water these days seems to be full of surprises. As the sun was rising, I spotted the island of San Cristobal. Seals galore. They stuffed up my salad (A SALAD) and the world gets to see grumpy Elayna. Muddy shoe walkers leaving muddy tracks onboard. Surrounded by bird watching/explorer humans in cargo gear. I wonder what adventures tomorrow may bring. Thanks for watching, and for those on Patreon supporting my art. It s comfortable, quiet, and energy efficient. Although electric radiant heat is a popular choice for small projects, retiling a bathroom, say, hydronic, or water-based, radiant provides the ultimate in efficiency for bigger projects or an extensive remodel. If you want to DIY hydronic radiant, you can use a specially engineered foam panel from Schluter Systems called Bekotec. You lay the panels directly on the floor, press-fit PEX tubing into them, and add a thin layer of specially mixed concrete, five parts sand to one part portland cement. The panels provide a modest thermal break (R3), so you don t have to install an extra layer of insulation. Using this system adds less than 1 3/4 inches, including concrete, versus about 4 inches for the old-school method of tying tubing to wire mesh. That leaves you more headroom in basement applications. And the thin slab will heat up and cool down more quickly, allowing you to use lower water temperatures and save on your heating bill. Overall, it makes for a more responsive radiant slab. Steps for How to Install DIY Radiant Floor Heating: 1. Prep floor with leveling compound, if necessary. 2. Clean floor and install foam edging. 3. Lay first row of click-together panels. 4. Measure and trim the row s last panel to fit. 5. Cover the remaining area with panels. 6. Determine PEX spacing: 6-, 9-, or 12-inch rows. 7. Press-fit PEX between "studs" in panels. 8. Cover area with one continuous loop of PEX. 9. Leave extra tubing at boiler-room end for plumber to make connections. 10. Mix up a batch of "dry pack" concrete with a 5:1 ratio of sand to portland cement. 11. Spread and level over PEX, leaving a minimum of 5/16 inch of material above foam "studs." 12. Allow concrete to cure for a few days, then install your flooring of choice.
