Yeah, new country for both of us so that is pretty exciting. First time in Central Asia so we are stoked to be here. Yeah and over the next few days we are going to be horse-trekking in Song Köl so we re going to take you along but before we get there we re making a little stop. First up Burana Tower right here. So we re going to climb to the top. The first day of our tour was mostly a travel day, so we just enjoyed the scenery, caught up on sleep, and experienced our first Kyrgyz traffic jam. We also go our first taste of Kyrgyz food with a massive lunch featuring all types of spreads and dishes. From there, we did a short hike in the outskirts of Kochkor and then checked into our guesthouse for the night. (Traditional music of Kyrgyzstan) So good morning from Kochkor. We did a home stay here last night which was a lot of fun. We got to watch a music performance and eat amazing food. So we re just going to enjoy breakfast now and then go horse-trekking. And we re wearing our cool hats. Yeah, so can t wait to do that. Let s get started. Alright so we just arrived at the first camp. We ve had lunch and now we re going to pick out a horse and begin the trek. Yeah! Okay so it is time for a little update. How are you feeling? Well, I ve been getting tenderized on that horse. Yeah. Like we ve been riding for over three hours now and after I got off of it I could barely stand up. Like I almost collapsed. I almost fell. Obviously we are not trained at doing this but it has been a lot of fun. The scenery has been awesome, the weather has really cooperated so this is over the halfway mark and we re really looking forward to reaching the Yurt for supper. So we made a new friend and we ve arrived at camp. We ve arrived at last. So we re at our yurt and we re going to eat dinner. We re getting ready for dinner and this guy is our entertainment for the night. So it is now bedtime. The boys are in one yurt and the girls are in the other and this is what it looks like. Little tour. There we go. And we have loads of blankets because it is freezing cold tonight. Good morning. I don t know about you but I slept really well. We were in separate tents. Yeah, it was men only and women only. And it was so cold that you know we just bundled up in these big thick blankets and I think everyone just was like out like a rock. Past out right away. And we went to bed early. Yeah because the horse riding took a lot out of us and we had a nice big meal and then a little bit to drink and then just it was fantastic. So this is the start of day two. So we re going to be riding again about five hours today. I m feeling pretty sore so we ll see how that goes. But it should be fun like the landscapes have been amazing all the way. And the weather has been awesome too so I think we re going to have another really good day. Mmmhmmm. Let s do this. Alright welcome to MTV cribs the yurt edition. Yurt edition. So we re going to show you what is going on in here. Alright. This is like the men s sleeping quarters last night so we were all sleeping here. Looks pretty messy. It is properly messy. We all just woke up. We re just getting ready for breakfast and this was the awesome stuff we had last night. We had some vodka. On our second afternoon of trekking we made it to Song Kol, our final destination. We arrived shortly before sunset, so after dropping off our packs and warming up with tea, we made our way down to the water to watch the sun work its magic. So we finally made it. We arrived. The Day of the Dead Festival in Mexico is an amazing event. In 2016, Mexico City held it s first ever parade. La desfile de Dia de Muertos. There was an insane amount of people there, with the advice from some friends, I tried to get into the press area. The bouncer said a flat "No". I kept asking, and some of the locals began chanting "Let him in, Let him in", the guy opened the gate, and here we are. I was basically in the Parade. This is why I love travel! Music, Costumes, Floats, Dancing, it was an incredible fiesta. Personally, I m used to celebrating Halloween, but they take it to the next level with Day of the Dead. Families from all over Mexico celebrate the lives of those who have passed away, and give offerings to help them in the afterlife. Over the past few years (with the help of Spectre, the James Bond movie) Dia de Muertos has now become an international sensation, with people from all over the world dressing up as the female skeleton La Calavera Catrina for Halloween. Being able to produce this was a surprise. I rushed to get it posted. This just happened a few hours ago. Good morning. So it is our second day in Edinburgh and we are starting things off with more food. Because if there is one thing we re good at it is eating. But we re doing a little bit of walking to get there so it is the perfect compliment this morning. We can t wait to get started. So Rob what is the tour about today? The tour is basically about cruising through Edinburgh, seeing some nice sights and trying some classic foods. Alright, let s do that. Maybe there is Haggis on the menu. Haggis! The first stop the Itchycoo. Let s go in. Okay, so the first stop of the tour is at the Itchy Coo and we are going to be having some Haggis for breakfast. Are you ready Sam? And starting off with a Virgin Mary. Decided not to make it bloody because it is like ten AM. A bit early to drink. Oh, that is very good. Okay, now let s try the Haggis down here. And it is on looks like it is on a little cracker which is really cool. So we had Haggis at the first stop and you boys actually ate all of it. So they gave us little earpieces so we can hear our guide through the traffic and even if we trail behind a little bit. But I feel like we re channeling some serious FBI vibes down the Royal Mile. So we ve made it to our second stop today. Cranachan & Crowdie. Let s try some of these goodies. Yes, so we re starting off with some venison here. With some Ooft! sauce. Okay, so I m going for the orkney smoked cheddar. We re going to dip it in chocolate and this chocolate has whisky so. Oh my. I don t think I ve ever had chocolate with whisky before. So that was Cranachan and Crowdie and they have food, drink and gifts from over three hundred suppliers in Scotland. So if you want to get an authentic gift for a friend or family this is a really cool place. Right now we are heading inside the Fudge House for a little something sweet. Let s do this. And fudge is one of my favorite foods. Also we re going to learn about tablet I think. How much do you like fudge? So being the fudge fanatic that I am I am very excited to try this. This if you look down here. This is the Scottish Highland cream. So this is one of the most traditional ones you can try. I ll just pop that in my mouth here. So as part of the tour we get to choose one bar to take with us and eat along the way. And they have over twenty varieties of fudge here so we re struggling. So we ve been having sweet and savory foods. Now it is time to enjoy some drinks. So this is your little souvenir. Proud of my little souvenir from Campbeltown Loch Scotch Whisky. And if we haven t been feasting enough it is time for lunch. We re having Scandinavian Scottish fusion Smorgasbord. Alright, this is Hemma. Are you ready for Scandinavian Scottish. I m ready. So how was that meal? The meal was fantastic. My favorite things were actually the herring and beetroot salad and that is saying a lot because there were two other salmon dishes that I really liked. Now the only problem is we thought that was the last stop so we ate a lot and now we re stuffed and apparently there is still beer and cheese ahead. And you re trying the Ghost Town and this is from the northwest. So it is a porter and let s give it a shot. And apparently it has a bit of a chili infusion so. Let s see if you can taste that. I do taste a slight bit of that. It is a porter so it is kind of like a Guinness. So that is wrap from the Edinburgh eat and walk tour. If you re a foodie and you ever find yourself in the city we highly recommend it. Absolutely. Trunyan Village Cemetery in Bali was a challenging experience for me. We rarely see dead bodies in the western world, and we have a very finite view on death. Trunyan village is located deep in the centre of Bali, nestled beside a crater lake and mount Batur, and is quite hard to get to. Here, they still follow a tradition that was set in place over a thousand years ago. They place their dead under a Terumanyan Tree, supposedly the last of it s kind, to mask it s beautiful scent. The legend says that the smell of the tree was so sweet, that people from all over the island would come to try and find its source. The village of Trunyan was overrun with travellers. A man arrived and met a woman, he wanted to marry her. She insisted that before they were to be wed, the man has to find a way to stop the smell of the tree. The man found a very unique way to do so, and so began the tradition of placing dead bodies under the tree. Now, we can visit the cemetery and see death face to face. There are 11 exposed graves beside the famous tree. The people living here are the descendants of the original Balinse people called Aga, and both the village and the tree derive their name from their language. Taru meaning tree and Menyan meaning nice smell . There are a lot of poor reviews of this place. The locals are having a hard time appropriately managing the travellers that arrive. It s also quite small, and depending if anyone has died recently, there may or may not be a decomposing body. I have Yansu s contact below.
