Xcalak, Mexico is a bit far off the beaten path. While quite close to Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and Cancun, rarely do tourists venture further south than the cruise ship town of Mahahual. When you get to this sleepy beach town, you ll realize there s not too much there. A few tiendas selling groceries, a taco shop, and also... one of the nicest PADI dive shops I ve ever seen. I had watched a few videos of swimming with Crocodiles and Sailfish, scuba dives I didn t think you could do in Mexico, also I had my eye on diving a remote island reef called Banco Chinchorro. I investigated how to do each, and they all traced back to XTC diveshop in Xcalak. During this time of year (April) the main attraction was diving with Tarpon, a huge 2 meter long silver-sided fish, that is often quite a trophy for fishermen. Here, fishing was off the table, but diving with these giants was in full season During my stay here I ended up diving the site twice, as well as many other surrounding dive sites. This is one video of a few showcasing the diving in and around Xcalak and Banco Chinchorro. Thoughts on what I said at the end of the video? How much more diving do you want to see on this channel? Should I make a second one? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ϟ My Camera Gear ϟ Main Camera: http://geni.us/MyCamera My Favourite Lens: http://geni.us/Sony1635mm My 2nd Favourite Lens: http://geni.us/Sony90mm Low Light/Portrait Lens: http://geni.us/Sony55mm Love this Microphone: http://geni.us/RODEMic My SD Cards: http://geni.us/SanDiskPRO Camera Clips: http://geni.us/PDClip Cool Gadget to switch Lenses: http://geni.us/PDLensKit My Camera Strap: http://geni.us/PDStrap Keeping Safe on Rainy Days: http://geni.us/PDRainShell Great Tripod with a Funny Name: http://geni.us/Tripod This new Gimbal I love: http://geni.us/NewGimbal My Flying Camera: http://geni.us/DJI4K ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ♥ Friends ♥ Big love to XTC Dive Centre for sending me out on a few dives. The US signed the metre convention and bases all customary units on SI standards. As an aside, the Utah constitution from 1895 required the metric system to be taught in schools. This requirement was repealed in 1987. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Huge thanks to NIST, Ben Stein and Patrick Abbott. https://www.nist.gov/ https://www.nist.gov/pml/weights-and-measures/si-units-mass Special thanks to Patreon Supporters: Tony Fadell, Donal Botkin, Jeff Straathof, Zach Mueller, Ron Neal, Nathan Hansen Back in 1875 The US signed the Metre Convention, which basically committed the country to use the metric system. In return, French scientists sent two platinum-iridium cylinders that weigh 1kg to the US in 1889 (known by their designations K4 and K20 from a set of 40 identical objects that were produced and sent around the world). So even though everything you see and buy in the US is usually reported in pounds, all weights are traceable back to the K20 kilogram (by applying a conversion factor to get to pounds). When I was in DC a few weeks ago, I visited the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and got up close with K20, which is still kept there and used to calibrate all mass standards in this country. I thought it was pretty cool. Edited by Bill Connor

Join us in this Maine Coon cat video compilation as we show you the personality and routine of Hobie from the perspective of a cat s life. We ve owned and been around many cats over the years but no other cat has anything like the personality of our Maine Coon. He s a loveable goofball. He lives to play and loves being chased jumping in and out of cardboard boxes and especially gets excited for laser tag where he runs and jumps after the red dot on either the couch or bed. Now that Hobie is two years old he is becoming more of a gentle giant allowing us to cuddle with him, pet his head and stroke his chin when he s tired. If he s active and we try to do that he ll squirm right out of our arms as if he s saying, That s enough of that mushy stuff!" One of his favorite new quirky habits is to perch himself high atop the kitchen counters and just look down at all of the action going on in the kitchen. He s so comfortable up there he often falls asleep. Although he enjoys being in the room with us he ll occasionally try to hide and one of his favorite spots is underneath wet towels. He eats very well but because we haven t fed him any human food he has no interest in that and he ll graze throughout the day but never pegs for more in his dish. He s all about play and goofball activities. If he s not allowed to do something, and he knows it, the temptation becomes stronger for him. He knows he s not allowed by the plants but that doesn t stop him from going there once in a while. Although he s quite a demanding cat in terms of attention and play it is more than rewarding for us because he gives so much back in return. Honestly, we couldn t imagine life without Hobie the Maine Coon cat. I’m Hobie the Maine Coon. It’s been a while since my last video and I’m 2 years old now, so I thought it was high time for an update. I’ve been living with my two humans for a while now and life is good. They’re always coming up with new games for me. Laser tag on the bed is one of my favourites, and they also have something called yoga-kitty where they parade me around the house in yoga mat bag - it’s like lounging on a hammock. No complaints about that! Amazon delivery days are my favourite. This is when I get new toys. While my humans are ooh-ing and ahh-ing over who knows what, I’m left with the boxes and wrapping paper. It’s glorious! I get to keep all the boxes for a few days. I’ve also taken up botany. My humans have built me my very own jungle — why, I don’t know - but I try to oblige them by sniffing the plants, pawing the dirt, and chewing on leaves. Not a bad way to spend the afternoon if you ask me. The are two young humans who visit me twice a year. The redhead likes to play with me, but his wife is a real cuddler. She scoops me up and tries to hold me like a baby. I don’t love, but I get a massage out of it, so I stick around for a bit. They’ve been confusing me with all the names they have for me. I’m officially Hobie, but they also call me Bookie-Boo, Silly Goose Baba, Deedle, Hobster, and of course, Lobster, but I already knew that one. Once I’ve had enough of my humans I retreat to my hiding place. They have some kind of treehouse in their kitchen so I climb to the top where I am out of reach. It also smells like food in this part of the house, so sometimes I fall asleep to the smell of chicken or roast beef. Ahh, food! On that note, this is what they feed me. Yes, kibbles. I’ve been hinting at filet mignon for months but I’m starting to lose hope in the culinary department. It’s a cat’s life. Anyways, that’s enough about me. I’ve had a busy day and it’s now time for my nap. Humans, which one of you is going to give me my tuck? This is part of our cat videos series showcasing our Maine Coon cat Hobie. Barn owls have long been one of the secrets to Napa Valley’s world-class wines. Rather than relying on chemicals and pesticides, winemakers work with owls—nature’s best pest control—to ensure that the best grapes make it to your wine bottle without rodent interference. Wildlife biologist Carrie Wendt has spent years learning how these majestic nocturnal creatures can have productive, working relationships with winemakers. Ask This Old House plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey takes host Kevin O’Connor inside a dishwasher to explain each cycle. SUBSCRIBE to This Old House: http://bit.ly/SubscribeThisOldHouse Steps: 1. A dishwasher begins the cycle by running a discharge pump to empty any remaining liquid in the machine. 2. Next, hot water enters from the side and fills a reservoir at the bottom until it activates a float. In some cycles, an electrical element can heat the water to sanitize dishes. 3. Once the reservoir is filled, a pump sprays water and soap all over the dishes. 4. At the end of the cycle, the pump will discharge water out of the drain. 5. The number of cycles is determined by user settings. About Ask This Old House TV: Homeowners have a virtual truckload of questions for us on smaller projects, and we re ready to answer. We started traveling full-time January 10, 2016. While daily vlogging was not the original plan, we were having way too many cool experiences not to share every single day! Now travel vlogging is our full-time gig and we feel like we have the greatest job in the world! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :) We’ve pulled inspiration from several of our favorite travel vloggers on YouTube, such as: +CaseyNeistat +FunForLouis +Jon Olsson +Mr Ben Brown , and any other talented travel vloggers that YouTube’s algorithm will hopefully connect us with ;) Our Links —————————— KEEP US ON THE ROAD: http://karaandnate.com/keep-us-on-the-road/ CHECK OUT OUR PACKING LIST: http://karaandnate.com/travel-essentials/ JOIN OUR EMAIL LIST: http://karaandnate.com/sunday-summary NATE S BOOK: http://learn.karaandnate.com/ FLIGHT DEAL NOTIFICATIONS: https://gumroad.com/l/flightdeals GEAR: Our current camera setup: https://karaandnate.com/travel-vlogging-gear/ Our suitcases: http://awaytravel.com/karaandnate Our gear backpacks: http://bit.ly/wandrd_prvke31 Social Links —————————— FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/karaandnate/ INSTAGRAM: @karaandnate13 (https://www.instagram.com/karaandnate13/) TWITTER: @natebuchanan (https://twitter.com/natebuchanan)
