Things to do in Nevada Travel Guide | USA Road Trip all over NEVADA (Ultimate Itinerary) Video Transcript: Our trip began in Las Vegas, but having already been there before, we wasted no time on the Strip. After a short night’s rest, we grabbed a hearty breakfast, hopped in our rental car, and hit the road for our first stop of the day: Lake Mead. Hoover Dam is one of the most visited attractions in Nevada with as many as 1 million people taking the tour every year, and even more driving across the dam. Fun fact: there is enough concrete in Hoover Dam to build a 4 foot wide sidewalk around the Earth at the Equator. That’s a whole lot of concrete! Kayaking in Black Canyon was the highlight of the day. We lucked out with blue skies, calm waters, and the scenery was pretty spectacular - especially once we entered the canyon. Halfway up stream we took a break from kayaking and went on a short hike. We also stopped at the Emerald Cave, which gets it’s name from the bright emerald green colour reflected in the water. We had an hour’s journey to reach the Valley of Fire that morning, and it was a very leisurely drive down some scenic stretches of road. We knew we were getting closer to the park when we noticed the landscape colours started becoming more saturated. Once we entered Valley of Fire State Park, the fun began. This park is known for its rock formations, panoramic vistas, and hiking trails, so there was no shortage of things to see and do. Back on the road, we hit our first stop on the ET Highway: ET Fresh Jerky! This is an alien-themed shop selling everything from martian soda to alien sunglasses, so we used this as an opportunity to load up on snacks. After stopping for photos at the ET Highway marker which is covered in stickers, we journeyed on to the Alien Research Centre, which is pretty hard to miss considering they have a giant metal alien standing guard on a hill. Out front, we spotted a UFO-towing pick-up truck and a green alien welcoming earthlings, while inside we were surrounded by Area 51 warning signs and all sorts of alien-themed souvenirs. And then it was time to turn around, drive back to Vegas, and fly back home,. A surprise addition to our Nevada travel guide was visiting Red Rock Canyon, which is just a 20-minute drive from the Vegas Strip. Our final thoughts? There are way more things to do in Nevada than just Las Vegas and we’re glad we got to experience a mix of nature and quirky attractions on this mini USA road trip! A new travel vlog series! A couple months ago, my friend and filmmaker buddy Caspar Diederik and I decided to take on a crazy challenge together. We had finished a giant project in Germany together a few years ago, and never took that trip to celebrate the accomplishment. We decided to try something a little bit different, and sign up for a Adventure Challenge through the Amazon Rain Forest. 5 teams competed against each other for a week in the heart of the jungle. Swimming, Paddling, Hiking, Eating, every day was a new challenge. At the end, there was a winner. We started off in the little town of Leticia in Colombia, then eventually crossed the border to both Peru and Brazil. I arrived a day late to begin the challenge, as I was trying to fly from Berlin to Leticia, and there were airport strikes in Europe. I made it to join on the night of day 1, and was greeted with a hell of a welcome party. Everyone was relaxing at a shaman s hut, trying Mambe and Rape. Powdered Coca leaves, and powdered tobacco. It was INTENSE, and gave you a huge head rush. The shaman sung as well all fell asleep that night in his giant hut. It was a great first night. The challenge started on day 2 for me, and that s where the story begins. The company who ran this challenge is called Large Minority. They have a several amazing race style trips around the world. The Lanka Challenge in Sri Lanka, which teams race in Tuk Tuks around the country. The Cambo Challenge, which is a similar race around Cambodia, the Philippines Challenge, which is sailing, and the new addition was the Amazon Challenge. It was a wild experience. Like I said at the end of the video. I thrive off adventures like this. Leaping out of your comfort zone, into the mud, allows you to come back home a better, more bullet proof version of yourself. The Perseverance Rover and helicopter Ingenuity have landed safely on Mars. A few years back I got to visit NASA JPL to interview the scientists to find out their goals for the mission. I made this clip as a correspondent for Bill Nye Saves the World on Netflix. Touring the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) in Pasadena was an awesome experience. I didn t think we were going to get into the control room but we got lucky. Some of the greatest moments in the history of space exploration have taken place there. They have a giant vacuum chamber where they can take the rover down to the atmospheric pressure on Mars (roughly .01x Earth s atmosphere) and test all of the devices to make sure there are no electrical discharges due to the reduced pressure. I also enjoyed seeing how the rocks will be cored and stored in tubes and deposited on the Martian surface awaiting pickup by the following mission. Images courtesy of NASA.
