Our relationship changed drastically because of it. It really wasn t until doing this live that I realized I couldn t understand her reservations because I never had a maternal instinct. I only ever thought about the good I was doing to help my best friends. I completely disregarded her maternal feelings towards biological grandchildren because I couldn t understand them. So to me, those feelings would never be stronger than my desire to help my best friends. We get emotional and talk about how we each personally dealt with the process and how it affected our relationship.
