http://www.FTV.com/videos PARIS - Designer Alber Elbaz is always known for his simplistic dresses with embellished fabrics that speak volumes in one color, but this time, he tackled sporty separates. The result? FashionTV is happy to report that the collection is just as statement-making as his previous ladylike ones. And still, as Aymeline Valade opens the show with a halo of light beaming down on her, the looks (dresses included) are sharp and elegant at the same time. No one but Elbaz does it better. Sharp shoulders and pencil skirts gave off a strong working woman vibe but later as the separates came into play, we were happy to see his version of the tunic tuxedo vest. The menswearish vibe, even as womanly as he made it, worked no matter what the outfit (dress or cigarette pants.) Dresses were also sexy--a slit here, a transparent fabric there, and many of the pieces were low-cut in colors that ranged from blush to white to violet to black. There was a futuristic vibe about the whole thing, and the fact that Elbaz says sharp shoulders are still in--we ll keep that in mind when we start to notice the trend is fading. Zac Posen has returned to New York for New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 and we re grateful because we all missed his ability to make a statement at NYFW in on a lavish, but elegant scale. He told us that the Paris fashion scene would understand his clothes better, but it seems, there s nothing quite like showing in New York. And so while he had his romp in grand Paree (much like Miss Carrie Bradshaw,) he s back in the big bad city because, there s no place quite like home. Zac s return to New York seeemed to mark a return to his glory days with sophisticated looks ranging from colorful suits to whimsical minidresses to his signature mermaid ball gowns as modeled by Coco Rocha at the very end of the show. All clothes fit tightly to the body including the jackets and knee-length pencil skirts.
