Get more Amman travel tips, things to do, where to stay, and delicious food here: http://migrationology.com/travel-guides/amman-jordan/ On Day 3 of our trip to Jordan we stayed in Amman, and did lots of the major attractions in Amman, including the historical sites. We also explored downtown Amman, went to the local market, and at some more incredibly good food. Below is everything we did during this packed day of sightseeing in Amman. 1:10 - Shams El Balad Cafe - For breakfast we went to Shams El Balad Cafe, a very nice restaurant and cafe that specializes in local Jordanian food with a fresh and healthy, and also organic twist to it. The place itself is very nice, and sits on a hill overlooking the main downtown area of Amman. We ordered a variety of different food, including some manakish, which is a round of dough baked with toppings including cheese and herbs on top. I also really enjoyed the makdous, preserved eggplant stuffed with nuts, and a certain type of labneh with local herbs. Total price - 28 JD ($39.40) for 4 people 5:35 Amman Citadel - 3 JD ($4.22) - One of the most famous things to do in Amman is visit to Amman Citadel, which is the high point on the hill and formerly was one of the main areas of the city - the lookout and high place of Amman. Located at the Amman Citadel you’ll find layer upon layer of history, and can see all the different civilizations that have once called Amman home. I thought it was amazing, and I especially enjoyed the views of Amman from up there and the temple of Hercules. 7:38 Roman Amphitheater - 2 JD ($2.81) - Right down the hill from the Amman Citadel is the Roman Amphitheater, a stone theater carved into the side of the mountain. When we entered, there was a group of boys singing, and I decided to climb to the top for a view and I was amazing how the sound carried all the way to the top of the bleachers. An amazing historical site of visit. 8:54 Green Almonds and Downtown Amman - One of the best things to do in Amman in my opinion is to walk around downtown where all the action happens. There’s a big central market where you can buy just about anything you’re looking for, including a fresh wet market. When I visited Amman it happened to be almond season, and it was my first time to try green almonds. They were absolutely delicious, and tasted a bit like green apples. 13:01 Habibah Sweets - Probably one of the most famous things to eat in Amman is the kanefeh from a desserts spot in downtown called Habibah Sweets. There’s always a crowd of people standing outside waiting and eating kanafeh, which is a cheese based dessert. It’s pretty good, definitely a place you’ll need to visit in Amman if you enjoy food - especially for sweets. Price for 1 piece of kanafeh - 0.65 JD ($0.91) 14:22 Sufra Restaurant - For lunch we went to Sufra Restaurant, a very nice Jordanian food restaurant, located on Rainbow street. The food was excellent, but the main dish that really stood out to me was the Kofta bi tahini, a bed of minced meat, topped with potatoes and smothered in tahini sauce. Price - about 20 JD ($28.11) per person 19:50 Shawarma Reem and Amman Shawarma Street - Finally for dinner, we headed to what’s unofficially known as the shawarma street in Amman, where there’s about 8 different shawarma restaurants. One of the most famous is Shawarma Reem, for their beef and lamb shawarma - it was a perfect way to end the day. -- Check out my travel tips and visiting recommendations for Amman, Jordan: http://migrationology.com/travel-guides/amman-jordan/ (Including where to stay, what to see, safety information, and extra tips) MY WEBSITES: Migrationology.com: http://migrationology.com/ EatingThaiFood.com: http://eatingthaifood.com/ TravelByYing.com: http://travelbyying.com/ T-shirts & Food Guides: https://migrationology.com/store/ Resources: http://migrationology.com/travel-resources/ SOCIAL MEDIA: Snapchat: @migrationology Instagram: https://instagram.com/migrationology Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/migrationology Thank you very much for watching this video! --

What was easily my favorite late night drive through, Wendy s always just did it fresher than the other fast food spots. It was cheap, it was delicious, and they had great options, on top of the fact that they invented a delicious dessert that wasn t quite a milkshake, and yet it wasn t quite ice cream either. Check out my Jordanian food guide here: https://migrationology.com/jordanian-food/ On Day 2 (which was actually the same morning we arrived, so it was really our first day in Amman), we didn’t do much other than eat some incredibly delicious Jordanian food. After having a quick breakfast at the hotel, which I showed in the first video, we then took a nap. In the early afternoon, we got started for the day, by having some of the most incredible falafel I’ve ever had in my life, and proceeding to have a few snacks, followed by an amazing Jordanian meal for dinner. Here’s a more details looks at what we did on Day 2 of our Jordan trip. 1:02 Falafel Al-Quds - For our first food stop in Amman we went to a famous place called Falafel Al-Quds, known for serving falafel sandwiches on sesame seed buns. I haven’t had all that much falafel in my life, but these were definitely some of the best falafel I’ve ever had in my life. I had the sesame seed falafel sandwich which came filled with falafel, tomatoes, tahini, chili, and some small spices and seasoning. It was simple but incredibly delicious. Sesame seed bun - 0.75 JD ($1.05) 4:56 Gerard Ice Cream - Next we walked down Rainbow street in Amman, which by the way has some fantastic little Jordanian restaurants and cafe, and stopped off at Gerard ice cream where I tried ar Arabic ice cream which is flavored by Arabic gum. It tastes sort of like a combination of vanilla and caramel. 1.70 JD ($2.39) 6:00 Wild Jordan Cafe - After walking around Amman for a bit and getting some good exercise walking around the hills, we then stopped off at Wild Jordan Cafe to hang out for a bit, drink some coffee and tea, and enjoy the great atmosphere for the cafe and of the Amman Citadel over on the next hill. It’s a really nice cafe in Amman if you’re looking to hang out. 7:26 The Delights Shop - We headed to a certain area of Amman to go to a place called The Delights Shop, known throughout Amman for having incredible dates. While they did have a selection of plain dates, they mostly had a variety of different chocolate covered dates. I had a mint chocolate covered date, which was very sweet and rich and very good. The Delights Shop in Amman is a little high end, but is a good place if you’re looking for chocolate covered dates. 8:30 Al Osrah Restaurant - Along with eating falafel, our Jordanian food local style dinner at Al Osrah restaurant was definitely the highlight of our first full day of exploring and eating in Amman. This local restaurant served all the typical dishes including hummus, moutabel, falafel again, and a dish that I particularly enjoyed - fattet hummus - which is bread that’s soaked until is basically dissolves, and mixed with hummus. While hummus is dense and creamy, the fattet hummus was much lighter and almost had the fluffy consistency of whipped cream. Our meal at Al Osrah was excellent, if you have a chance to eat there when you’re in Amman, the food they serve is wonderful. 13:01 Temriyeh Omar - For our final food stop in Amman, we went to a local spot known as Temriyeh Omar to have a Jordanian dessert called temriyeh, which is a then layer of dough, like a roti, filled with a slice of semolina cake, wrapped up into a little packet, and deep fried to a crisp. Once it’s taken out of the hot oil, it’s then dusted in powdered sugar. It was sweet, but very good. -- Check out my travel tips and visiting recommendations for Amman, Jordan: http://migrationology.com/travel-guides/amman-jordan/ (Including where to stay, what to see, safety information, and extra tips) MY WEBSITES: Migrationology.com: http://migrationology.com/ EatingThaiFood.com: http://eatingthaifood.com/ TravelByYing.com: http://travelbyying.com/ T-shirts & Food Guides: https://migrationology.com/store/ Resources: http://migrationology.com/travel-resources/ SOCIAL MEDIA: Snapchat: @migrationology Instagram: https://instagram.com/migrationology Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/migrationology Thank you very much for watching this video! --

►Read the full mango sticky rice recipe here: https://www.eatingthaifood.com/thai-mango-sticky-rice-recipe/ ►Subscribe to my videos: http://bit.ly/MarkWiensSubscribe Especially during the season (from about April to July annually), mangoes are one of the most popular fruits in Thailand - Bangkok is sometimes known as the Big Mango. When it’s mango season, you’ll find mangoes all over Bangkok, and you’ll discover lots and lots of both street food carts and stalls at local markets that serve mango sticky rice. It’s not only one of the most famou Thai desserts outside of Thailand, but it’s also one of the most popular desserts in Thailand - during mango season. In this video recipe, you’re going to learn how to make an authentic Bangkok street food style of mango sticky rice. When you show up to a food party or a family gathering with a big pan of coconut milk sticky rice and a few kilos of juicy ripe yellow mangoes, you’re going to be the star of the party! Here are the ingredients you ll need for this recipe: For the sticky rice: 1 kg. Thai sticky rice (ข้าวเหนียว) 800 ml. coconut cream (หัวกะทิ) 150 g. sugar (น้ำตาลทราย) 1 tsp. salt (เกลือ) For the toppings: 200 ml. coconut cream (หัวกะทิ) 1/3 tsp. salt (เกลือ) Sweet yellow mangoes (มะม่วงนำ้ดอกไม้) 100 g. yellow mung beans (ถั่วเหลือง) - optional Make sure you watch this entire video for all the steps and methods of making this mango sticky rice, and also be sure to go to the full blog post for more details (http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2016/04/thai-mango-sticky-rice-recipe/). But overall, it’s a very easy recipe to make. You first need to rinse and soak the rice, to remove all of the starch from the sticky rice. This will make it cook and look better when it’s served. Once you’ve soaked the rice for 6 hours, steam it for about 15 minutes, and then set aside. To prepare the coconut cream, cook 800 ml with sugar and salt, stirring gently until the sugar is fully dissolved, and the coconut cream comes to a boil - then immediately remove and start to assemble the rice. Put the fresh sticky rice into a mixing bowl, and start adding in, slowly by slowly, the coconut cream. Mix it in, until you’ve finished all the coconut cream into the rice, and you should have a consistency that’s kind of like a grain filled pudding. The sticky rice is now ready. For the toppings, you’ll need to take the remaining coconut cream, cook it on low heat with salt, bring to a boil, and then set it aside for a topping. Lastly, dry fry the mung beans on a low heat to toast them and make them crispy for another common topping (this is optional for this recipe but common in Thailand). The last part of making Thai mango sticky rice is to assemble everything together. Put a portion of the sweet sticky rice on a plate, peel and slice a mango to go right on top, sprinkle with a handful of crispy mung beans, and serve with the extra coconut cream on top. That’s all for this recipe, it’s pretty easy to make, and it’s one of the most common and most loved Thai desserts! -- FULL RECIPE: http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2016/04/thai-mango-sticky-rice-recipe/ MY WEBSITES: Migrationology.com: http://migrationology.com/ EatingThaiFood.com: http://eatingthaifood.com/ TravelByYing.com: http://travelbyying.com/ T-shirts & Food Guides: https://migrationology.com/store/ Resources: http://migrationology.com/travel-resources/ SOCIAL MEDIA: Snapchat: @migrationology Instagram: https://instagram.com/migrationology Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/migrationology Thank you very much for watching this video! --

One Pot Pad Thai You all know how much I LOVE making one pot meals! I’m all about ease in the kitchen… which includes ease in the clean up! I saw the Buzzfeed version a few months ago and couldn’t believe how many extra bowls and things they used, but still called it one pot. It also looked very time consuming because they would cook the noodles, take out of the pot, cook the egg, take out of the pot, cook the chicken, take out of the pot. You get the idea. Not to mention they used weird ingredients like sriracha and shallots! So, I was determined to make my own, REAL one pot pad thai! I made the traditional version with shrimp and tofu. AND IT IS FREAKING DELICIOUS! Let me know if you try it!! Macros for the ENTIRE pot: Protein: 96g Carbs: 204g Fat: 22g Cals: 1398 ------------ INGREDIENTS: 2 tbls sesame oil 2 oz firm tofu, diced 3 scallions (spring onions) diced 3 garlic cloves, crushed 1 egg 1/2 lb uncooked shrimp 1 tbls fish sauce 1 tbls coconut sugar 1 tbls sesame oil 1 tbls soy sauce 8 oz thai rice noodles 1.5 cups water Optional Toppings: Peanuts Lemons Limes Cilantro Scallions -------------- Directions: Dice the bottom part (the white part) of the scallion and the tofu. I found that using extra firm worked better. (You can leave it out if you don’t like tofu. It just blends right in, can’t even taste it. Good source of extra protein.) Heat sesame oil in a pot and saute the tofu, scallions and crushed garlic. After about 2 minutes, push those ingredients to the side and add the egg. Let that cook for a minute and then using your spatula, scramble it around. After it’s cooked, mix the egg in with everything else already in the pot. Throw in the raw shrimp. The edges will start to turn pink. When they do, mix everything together. (No worries if they haven’t fully cooked yet, they will definitely be cooked after the water boils.) Add the soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil and coconut sugar to the pot. Stir everything together. (No need to stir them together before adding to the pot. Save a bowl!) We used coconut sugar because it is unrefined, low glycemic and healthier for you than plain old white sugar. Add the noodles and water. (Yes, the noodles will be sitting there in no liquid. Trust the process 😉 ) Cover with the lid and put the flame on high. After about a minute, the noodles will start to get softer and you can gently push them down into the water. Cover again. The water will start to boil and then you will be able to stir the noodles together with the other ingredients. While you wait for that, prepare your toppings. Dice the cilantro, chop the peanuts, slice open the lime (or lemon) and dice the top part of the scallions. Once the water has been totally absorbed, your meal is ready! Plate it up and add the toppings! Should only take about 8-9 minutes from the time you put the raw noodles into the pot for it to be done. Advertisements
