A&Z #797 - Atlas and Dan "Killer" Kennedy each vs Rey Azteca s "Super Grande Especial" Delicious Mexican Food Challenge at Rey Azteca Mexican Restaurant in State College, Pennsylvania, which is the home of Penn State University. Because of how much variety there is/was, and the fact that there are no other Mexican food challenges like this one, it can arguably be considered the most delicious Mexican food challenge ever attempted!! Back in October 2019 after getting home from my 3-country Asia trip, I flew up to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania so I could try two food challenges in the area, and then head over towards Philadelphia, PA for a few more. After my burger event in Exton, PA near Philadelphia, I traveled northwest up and over to State College, PA where I met up with my competitive eater friend Dan "Killer" Kennedy. We went to Rey Azteca Mexican Restaurant so we each could attempt their unbeaten "Super Grande Especial" Delicious Mexican Food Challenge. There were over 20 different items featured, including 2 of each of the following: hard tacos, soft tacos, burritos, tamales, tostadas, chalupas, chili rellenos (cheesy peppers), and enchiladas. The challenge also featured a cheesy quesadilla and sides of refried beans and rice, all topped off with a churro bowl filled with ice cream for dessert. Dan and I were the first two people to attempt this challenge which was so delicious!! HUGE thanks to everyone with Rey Azteca Mexican Restaurant for the wonderful food and experience!! Atlas vs Brewskeez Champion Breaded Chicken Wings Challenge at Brewskeez Smokehouse & Music in O Fallon, Missouri. Hey everybody!! Back in mid-November 2019 during Thanksgiving week, as part of my "4th Quarter 2019" Food Challenge Tour, I traveled around my home state of Missouri and attempted 3 delicious food challenges. For event #3, I traveled just 15 minutes away from my family s house to Brewskeez Smokehouse & Music in O Fallon, Missouri which is part of the St Louis, Missouri metro area. I took on Brewskeez newer and undefeated Champion Breaded Chicken Wings Challenge. I had to eat 55 MASSIVE jumbo chicken wings that were breaded, fried, and served with a handful of french fries in the middle. I had 55 minutes to finish everything in front of a packed hometown crowd of people, which was much appreciated!! I was trying to become the first winner of this unbeaten challenge too which made the atmosphere that much more exciting!! Thanks to Russ the owner and everyone with Brewskeez Smokehouse & Music for the wonderful food and hospitality, and thanks to all the amazing people who came up to watch and meet me that day!! If you do not have a food processor, place Cheetos in a large Ziploc bag and bash with a blunt object until it forms fine crumbs. 3) In a food processor, blend 4 cups of the Cheeto crumbs with flour, sugar, and melted butter. Or just stir it all together by hand with a fork in a large mixing bowl. 4) Use your fingers to press the Cheeto crumb crust around the bottom of a 9 inch pie pan, making sure the crust goes all the way up the walls. Bake the crust alone for 15 minutes and remove. Keep the oven at 400 degrees! Equipment: * Food processor * Large mixing bowl * Silspat * Small saucepot * Pie pan Step 2: Apple Filling Ingredients * 8 medium Honeycrisp apples cut into large cubes (or whatever apple, who cares!) * ½ cup granulated sugar * 4 Tbsp Cheeto Puffs dust * 1/4 tsp salt * 4 Tbsp butter 1) While the crust is baking, peel apples then slice into ½ inch chunks. You can also do slices but… chunks are better #teamchunk. 2) Heat butter over high in a large sautee pan until melted and toasty. Add apples, sugar, and salt to the pan and sautee for 15 minutes until the apples have broken down and a caramel starts to form on the bottom of the pan. 3) Cover in Cheeto dust and continue to sautee for an additional 5 minutes. Equipment: * Veggie peeler * Small Cheffy knife * Cutting board * Saute pan with high edges * Wooden spoon Step 3: Streusel and Bake Ingredients * 1 bag Crunchy Cheetos * ¼ cup flour * ½ cup granulated sugar * 4 Tbsp cold butter cut into cubes * 1 baked cheetos pie dough * 1 portion apple pie filling * 1 bottle Reddi Whip * ½ cup Cheetos Puffs dust 1) Dump a handful of Cheetos into a Ziploc bag and use a blunt object to smash it into coarse crumbs. 2) Gently toss 1 cup of cheeto crumbs with flour, sugar, and butter cubes. 3) Pour your apple pie filling into the pie crust then add the streusel topping on top. Bake on the bottom rack in the oven for 25 minutes, just until streusel topping is browned. 4) Allow pie to cool for at least 2 minutes, then slice and serve topped with whipped cream and Cheeto dust.
