Martian Mountains - Chabahar, Iran - This is one of the most unique landscapes in Iran, and in the world. The mountains, known as the Martian Mountains, might be as close to Mars as we will ever get. They are truly unique and spectacular especially because of the lack of vegetation so you can see every geographical shape and pattern. Kebabs - We then continued on to eat kebabs for lunch and fried fish - an amazing meal. The food was to me a mix of Middle Eastern and Persian, all over hot rice smothered in butter and sour orange. An outstanding meal in Chabahar, must eat at when you are there. Chabahar is a street food paradise at night, because the sun is so hot during the day. You’ll find kebabs galore, and a dish called haleem, a porridge of beans / lentils, and what makes it for me are the toppings of fried shallots, fresh chilies, and lime juice. So amazing I had to have two bowls. We continued eating more street food Chabahar, to wrap up this amazing food day in Chabahar, Iran! Today we are in Jakarta, eating our way through Glodok Chinatown! Here you can find authentic Chinese restaurants and street food! We started our day in Chinatown with Bakmi (meat + noodles) made fresh to order. Served with char siu pork (barbecued), blanched vegetables and pickles on the table, this is a satisfying bowl of noodles (Rp. 26.000 / USD $1.82). For our next food stop, we go to a street side shop serving Kuo Tieh (pot stickers). Outside of the restaurant you can watch the chefs preparing the dumplings from scratch, starting with making and rolling the dough, stuffing the dumplings with meat and chives and then cooking them over a huge flame. The pot stickers were delicious, but slightly more expensive than we expected in Jakarta (Rp. 50.000 / USD $3.49 for 10 pieces). Next we check out the fresh market in Glodok, which is full of traditional Chinese ingredients you normally don’t see in Indonesian wet markets. Next, we visited Dharma Bhakti Temple (Jin De Yuan) which is the first and oldest temple in Jakarta, built in 1650. It is historically significant, and very important for Chinese living in Jakarta, especially around Lunar New Year. We wanted to experience a full meal after eating street food, so we went to a Hakka restaurant, known as the first Hakka restaurant in the city fro 1925. The owner was very friendly and recommended several dishes to us. We ordered braised noodles (Rp. 50.000 / USD $3.49), red yeast fried eel (Rp. 60.000 / USD $4.19), minced pork steamed with pickles (Rp. 80.000 / USD $5.59), pork ball soup (Rp. 15.000 / USD $1.05) and several other complimentary dishes. Buat minum petang memang terbaik lah. Berebut-rebut makan :) ***NOTA PENTING!! 1. Adunan hasilkan 15-20 churros, ikut panjang dan size 2. Kalau takde butter, boleh ganti planta/majerin 3. Coklat yg digunakan ialah coklat masakan, bentuk bar atau coin tak kisah 4.Kalau takde gula kastor, blend je gula biasa bagi halus 6.Masak tepung smpai bergumpal keras dan licin, baru doh tak lembik. (KACAU TEPUNG ANGGRAN10-15MINIT !!!) 7. Penting!! : Sejukkan doh biar agak2 suam dan masuk telur SEBIJI DEMI SEBIJI. Jangan masuk semua telur sekali. Kalau masuk sebiji dan lembik, tak perlu lagi masuk telur yg ke 2. 8. Back in mid-December 2019, as part of my "4th Quarter 2019" Food Challenge Tour, I traveled from Louisville, Kentucky to the Minneapolis, Minnesota area, and on the way I stopped in Eau Claire, Wisconsin which is in western Wisconsin. I went to Ramone s Ice Cream Parlor to help debut their new 16-Scoop "Milk Pail" Ice Cream Challenge which mainly features 16 softball-sized scoops of ice cream chosen from 24 rotating flavor options, topped with 3 big slices of fruit pie along with other normal sundae toppings. I also had to finish a bottle of soda made by Sprecher Brewery. I chose their root beer which was so good! Thanks so much to Blayne and Kayle (the owners) and their Ramone s staff for the wonderful ice cream and hospitality, and thanks to all the amazing people who came up to watch and meet me that December evening!! For their new 16-scoop "Milk Pail" Ice Cream Challenge, challengers have 30 minutes to finish 16 softball-sized scoops of ice cream, chosen from their 24 rotating available options. All the ice cream is scooped into a milk pail and topped with toppings plus pieces of homemade waffle cone. There are also 3 slices of fruit pie of your choosing added on top from a local bakery. Lastly, you must also finish a bottle of soda made by Sprecher Brewery, and there are a few options to choose from. The whole challenge weighs around 6 pounds. You still pay $50 for the challenge whether you win or lose. $20 from each challenge and/or family purchase (to split) gets donated to a charity and winners receive a $50 gift card to use later plus a Ramone s t-shirt or hat. One giant £20 burrito. Hundreds of attempts. Could I dethrone the champ and get the meal on the house?
