Welcome to Day 5 of the Rise & Shine Yoga Challenge! ☀️ A gentle slow flow class with deep stretches to help improve flexibility. We will begin by consciously tuning into the breath before moving into a seated warm up of cat/cows and neck stretches. Open the chest and shoulders with thread the needle and melting heart pose. Stretch the hamstrings and hips with rag doll, low lunge, side bends, lizard and wide legged forward fold. Slow down the mind with long held stretches of head to knee pose, revolved head to knee and double pigeon. Enjoy the final few minutes of class in reclined butterfly or savasana. Practice this quick, standing flow to improve all around balance and flexibility. Begin with a gentle warm-up, stretching the side body and moving the spine in all directions. The main sequence consists of standing twists, warrior II, reverse warrior, triangle, pyramid, balancing warrior III, revolved standing hand to foot and chair pose. Options are given for different levels so that the postures meet you where you are. Cool down with seated hip and hamstring stretches, forward folds and twists. (This class can also be practiced in the evening as well) The class begins laying down on the ground to connect with the breath. We will move into two variations of bridge pose, a gentle supine twist and then engage the core by rocking up into boat pose. The warm-up continues with rounds of cat/cow, melting heart pose, sphinx, cobra and upward facing dog. Rest in child s pose before moving into the main sequence. This is a gentle and slow restorative yoga class to stretch your full body. We ll incorporate five different postures in this sequence -- a heart opener, side body stretch, twist, fold and hip-opener. Viloma pranayama or ‘long exhale breath’ is practiced at the end.
